  • You and me both! I am a proud lunk...with high goals, superior results and a strong work ethic...and unwelcome at Planet Fitness... B)
  • I cook my own meals for the week, knowing I will be with limited time some days. As for these frozen, processed things, forget it. I'd sooner eat a McD Big Mac. With me, I know only two speeds: nutritional whole foods or McDonalds. Some days I need those Golden Arches! >:)
  • I always found a way - sometimes even at work, getting in full body calisthenics just doing a fast set every 45 minutes or so. Nobody is ever too busy. You find a way...or you find an excuse. I recall the last guy who told me his life was so busy - no time for exercise! And then he went on and on later about his favorite…
  • Right, your nutritionist seems a bit behind the times. That's a red flag right there. I have found as a businessman that when people miss it on the simple things, they really miss the mark on whatever is important.
  • Good for you; the best revenge is to live well and be happy. As for weight loss, becoming the best version of yourself is a sound motivation. Forget your ex, and just focus on moving on to a better tomorrow.
  • Forget this and just get started with MFP as recommended. You'll find lots of support for steady, safe and lasting results. Good Luck!
  • I lost 100 pounds over 2 years with a weekly cheat day. At 12:01 midnight, KATIE BAR THE DOOR! Anything goes... >:) And I maintained my results while making earnest efforts toward fat loss. As I progressed in this journey, my cheat days became less and less of a food binge. I finally stopped, because a cheat day inhibited…
  • Congratulations on the big day! What's great about MFP is that you can not only get fit and healthy for your wedding but every day beyond. Why not make your commitment for life - just like a marriage but without the arguments over him eating off of his plate, not throwing out the empty milk carton, snoring, leaving the…
  • Some foods are more healthy than others. As a person seeking peak fitness and optimal health, I avoid certain foods as well as certain people, places and activities. It's not imaging demons to acknowledge reality. Further, when I eat processed foods, it triggers something, and I begin craving more junk foods. I just won't…
  • ^^^THIS^^^ She's reading my mail...lol
  • I have gravitated toward Reebok's selection for different types of training. I don't think it's the brand that makes that much difference, but I have enjoyed their variety and customer service when issues came up. I own 6 pairs of Reebok workout shoes for each type of training.
  • I never understood why some don't eat back those exercise calories. Is this a race? I always ate my exercise calories and lost close to that magic 1 pound week after week. After losing 100 pounds over 2 years, I maintained it for almost 3. My goals were never mere weight loss but peak fitness and optimal health in addition…
  • Actually, I have discovered that in life and in marriage, success is a choice. None of us are victims. Our lives are completely governed by our decisions, so I have created the exact life I always desired, including being fit and healthy with a family of like values. Is that so bad?
  • Then PROBLEM SOLVED...right? I just don't connect well with those into unhealthy living and would never be in that position anyway.
  • My kids eat what we eat or go hungry. As for my wife, she and I are on the very same page with exercise and diet. We have 5 kids...all fit and healthy, and she worked herself fit after every delivery. I am the slug in this relationship. :s BUT...if this were not so, I'd have to consider moving on like some spouses and…
  • Are you doubting the intentions of The Coca Cola Company? All they're trying to do is help humanity just as they have always done in the tireless and selfless effort to make our world a better place. In other news...the moon is made of Swiss cheese... :p
  • If you just eat in moderation, no issues, but if it's a family of obese gluttons, that would drive me nuts. I just can't be around such people without their habits weakening my resolve. I have what I call my 3 day rule. I can tolerate others for 3 days, and that is it. After that, I GET OUT! :#
  • I was issued some arch supports which helped, and I roll my foot over a tennis ball while watching TV and such. That helps too.
  • Welcome! You are taking a brave step in a new direction. Your situation made me think. If it were my time to go, the best tribute I'd expect would be for my loving wife to move on, live well and be her healthy best. You're here, and this is a great, fresh journey. I feel your grief, but it's time to buck up, gather your…
  • I got my butt kicked by a guy who knew Krav Maga. Does that count? :s We were just live sparing, and it's great exercise as well as solid self defense. ENJOY!
  • I am age 51, and this is the best fitness and health I have experienced since my early 20's. Welcome to a potential transformed life.
  • I have been a fighter all my life, and now I only engage the training as a physical challenge. Boxing is great!
  • Yes, too much sugar will cause obesity. B) And also...too much steak will cause obesity...and too much extra virgin olive oil...and EVEN TOO MUCH TOFU!
  • When I broke my leg, swimming became an exercise staple. Just show up and swim, and you'll catch on. I used a raft to help me stay afloat, but whatever. I have found that swimmers are just nice folks, and others will respect your efforts. Just by showing up, you have separated yourself from the herd. I hear some always…
  • Anything above 15% body fat makes me look too blubbery. Sometimes we must accept our genetic potential. Body builders do the cycles of bulking and cutting, so that's an option, but I say no thanks to that. Godspeed in whatever path you take.

  • I picked lower carbs...and for me that's about 50% of my diet as opposed to 80% when I was obese. My macro balance today is about 20% protein...50% carb...and 30% fat. As mentioned, in times past, the overload of carbs rocketed my calories while reducing overall nutrition which wrecked my health. I'll never go back to…
  • Normal diet is 2000 calories per day. I eat twice that just to maintain, and I was 100 pounds too fat. So, no, that was not my experience.
  • When I first began this journey, I recall getting in fist fights about every 3 days. Somebody would say the wrong thing; I'd feel the rage building, then some guy would laugh or something, and I'd just go off. I kept asking myself "what is happening to me?" It passed, and my theory is that the initial shock of not feeding…
