Walking is absolutely acceptable. As a walker (or slower runner like myself) it's good practice to stick to the right side (just like the slow lane on the freeway ; ) especially if the course narrows, to keep lanes open for runners or those trying to PR. Have a great half marathon!

I'd suggest following the original plan and doing 12, assuming your fully recovered of course. Like you said, there isn't much difference between 18 and 20 and if you've been following the HH training plan up to this point, you'll be just fine for the marathon. Good luck!

I'm a heavier runner (200+ lbs) myself and highly recommend the Brooks Beast. I also have very wide and flat feet which isn't great for running but a good pair of shoes helps tremendously. I agree with other posters that the best thing to do is to get assessed at a good running store and see what suits you best.

If you're open to dads (not just moms) with 40lbs to lose you can add me. Just getting re-started and looking to take it off and keep it off for good and to friend folks along the way in the same boat as far as # of pounds to lose. If we start now and stick with it, we should be at our goals anywhere between January to…
