Yep, https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10256624/im-going-to-lose-20-pounds-in-40-days#latest Any bets on how long it lasts?

Walking is good exercise for both you and your dog. Try sustaining a 15 minute/mile pace - great for your dog & will surprise you with the effort required to sustain that for a couple of miles.

+1 for the Pink Floyd allusion!

Recommend getting a digital scale & using it (it's very easy to underestimate the food you're eating), be brutally honest with yourself & log everything, and follow the "basic plan" (Calories In, Calories Out. If CI<CO, you will lose weight). Good luck & welcome to MFP!

Not sure if it's really 21 days, but it takes me awhile to build & sustain a positive habit, but I can make a bad habit in about 15 minutes...

Agree. There is no "right" answer - only what works for you. Personally, I weigh every day (and at the same time) and log it (in MFP & my own EXCEL chart). I try not to focus on the daily ups & downs (and it is very much up& down - definitely not linear) and rather focus on the trend (& I'm nerdy enough that I've got a…

Funny because it's true (for me, for too long). :)

Agree. "Failure doesn't coming from falling down. Failure comes from not getting back up." - Probably someone famous

I agree with many above & would also add - set realistic intermediate goals. Granted I'm only about 50 days in, but initially I had a very aggressive loss rate goal. And I was beating it - for about the first 3 1/2 weeks, then I started binging & beating myself up (for an unrealistic, unsustainable goal), and feeling…

Welcome back! & You can do it!

^This. May or May not apply to your case: I'm only 5 weeks in, but for the first 3 1/2 weeks I had a very aggressive goal - and was beating it! Was miserable, grumpy, and started binging & going way over calorie goal and gaining back. Adjusted my calorie goal to a more reasonable and sustainable one. Felt better, felt…

I'm an MFP neophyte, so take it for what it's worth - but don't think there is anything valid in concept of "Spot Reduction." Want to lose fat around the waist - just lose fat (Calories In < Calories Out) - or keep losing in your case (good job, BTW!) My $0.02

Daily and try not to focus on the day-to-day fluctuations, but rather the trendline* Tracking/plotting it in Excel, including with linear regression :)

Aimee - in terms of a plan, the MFP "basic plan" is pretty simple: CICO, "Calories In, Calories Out." If CI<CO, you'll lose weight. Personally - and you'll have to find one that works for you, personally - I try to go with lean meats for proteins, as much of my carbs from fruits & veggies and not processed foods, and the…

Welcome to MFP! My "A-ha" moment was very similar. "The camera adds 10 lbs." Damn, how many cameras am I wearing?!?
