Another view of it - a Von Flue Choke & not a Head & Arm Triangle... Gonna have to physically try both sides of it (& have some pedantic/semantic questions - isn't a VF choke just a special sub-set of H&A chokes. Same as D'Arce, Anaconda, etc. All same principle, just different geometry/set-up?)…

That seems to be the talk of the entire on-line BJJ community...can't wait until the gym tonight to hear what the purple & brown belts say about it...

2) Get a kid. They never let you sleep in.[/quote] Until they're teenagers.... Now, my dog? He does not understand weekends & always wants his morning meal at same time - regardless of the day!

I've been an early riser for years (normally 0430) - work related, not initially by desire - but now I'm almost wired that way. Here's what works for me: - Setting a schedule and keeping it without too much deviation on weekends (I rarely sleep in, because it throws me out of whack for the following day/night) - avoiding…

I do both. Weigh daily & track/trend; take measurements once a month.

2/1 Notes - January Assessment CW: 226.0 Trendweight (last 4 weeks): Actual - 226, TW: 225.3 Loss of 4.8lbs in JAN Losing 0.5 lbs/week (half of goal pace) Measurements: All no change, except "Belly: -0.25" Maybe loss, maybe just measurement error/range. Started off the first two weeks well (diet & exercise). Injured left…

I DVR'd and watched later. Sage Northcutt - really?

Broccoli (raw) with hummus (bunch o' different flavor options there)!

That said, I would also recommend taking some measurements as well. I measure monthly - it's sometimes interesting to see "hmm, didn't lose a pound, but I lost an inch off my waist..." Think there are a lot of ways to measure progress/improvement.
-
^what she said. I'm a "data geek" and like seeing it daily, how it trends, and think it is helping me understand my particular version of the amazingly complex machine that is the human body. But, there is no "right" answer - only what's right for you.

Concur with the recommendations (for all three): 1) Report it to the legal authorities (police, etc.) 2) Report it to the store/management, and 3) consider taking a self-defense course. Many places offer a course designed for women (an example at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pndPbpHLpos).

Double -Stuff! But if we're getting fancy - Breyer's Oreo Cookies & Cream ice icream; now we're talking!

BBQ sauce adds some sugar/carbohydrates as well (sauce & amount dependent).

I'm no nutritionist, but I think so (mostly lean, "white meat"). Not sure what the root beer would add (by being cooked in it) - probably some sugar/carbohydrates. Pork loin Amount Per 3 oz (85 g)1 chop, excluding refuse (yield from 1 raw chop, with refuse, weighing 151 g) (87 g)100 grams3 oz (85 g) Calories 206 % Daily…

Sounds awful, but is surprisingly good. 1 x pork loin 1 x 2L bottle of root beer Put pork loin in crockpot, pour in root beer, cook all day (about 8 hours). Remove pork loin, cut off fat, shred/pull the pork loin. Add whatever you like (or not). I like a little Stubbs BBQ sauce or Carolina Gold BBQ sauce - eat it right out…

Tonon is a beast; I enjoy watching him roll.

75% gi, 25% no-gi. No real preference - some stuff works better one way or the other, but the fundamentals/principles seem to apply in both.

The human body is an amazing, amazingly complicated, and amazingly frustrating "machine." Trust the process & give it time.
-
That is a nice sneaky one!
-
No gi BB choke - I got choked out so many times by a particular brown belt that a) I've learned to defend it pretty well and b) can sometimes get it (on folks that don't know how to defend it) from Knee on Belly. Have seen videos of folks doing it from bottom side control and other positions of perceived disadvantage - I…

My little "cheat" (which isn't really cheating at all) - I also have a goal to increase my water consumption - keep a bottle on my desk, sip on it nearly continuously, and correspondingly have to go "refill & defill, so to speak" about every hour. I used to go right down the hall for it. Changed my routine to make a lap…

Be honest with yourself (and use a scale) & trust the process (exercise patience). Welcome to MFP & best of luck!

LOL, I'd put it likely in the English translation of metaphorical Portuguese (RNC in Portuguese is Mata Leo - "Lion Killer"). Eddie Bravo stuff to me is "The Vaporizer," etc.:

@shabaity - aaah, got it. Part of my earlier etymology comment - I love that stuff!

What's the "lion's ride?" I haven't heard that one before. As an aside, I love the etymology of BJJ: some things metaphorical Japanese, some things metaphorical Portuguese, some things named after a fighter that made it famous, some things descriptively named, and then some crazy Eddy Bravo names for techniques...
