Also, when you get your weight down you can start talking to a recruiter about the physical requirements. They are always willing to help because they want you to succeed. Good luck!!

I'm not a military veteran, but my husband just completed OCS this spring...I would suggest you start now on a calorie deficit to get your weight down and work on endurance. After a little googling, I found the weight limit for your height to be 191 or so. I would start by walking and go from there. You can look up the…

I'm sorry. :( There is a lot of good info here, sometimes you just have to weed through a bit. If I'm not mistaken that thread has a bit of tension going on...I try to stay out of ones like that.

^^ Also, do you have a food scale? Some entries are entered as of they were weighed and some are just measured. If you have one you should weigh all solids in grams and measure liquids with cups and spoons.

Your stats might be helpful as well. What are your goals?

I am not a picky eater at all, but water chestnuts make me shudder and I won't eat them. It's the texture or something. :s But if you like them and they fit in your goal, they are fine. All food can be eaten while losing weight, just in portions that fit within your goal.

My suggestion would be to weigh it initially and then weigh what's left after the chickens out and subtract it.

My mom's spaghetti sauce has celery in it. Make sure when you buy it that it smells sweet or neutral, not bitter...I've had bitter celery ruin a dish.

Yes, my husband keeps a jar of them in his truck and I always put them in the back so I'm not tempted. There is no way I can eyeball a serving of them. :( I love them too.

Oh gosh I forgot the wine!!! That was a really rough reality check for sure!

^^^^^DON'T CLICK THAT!!!^^^^^ Its spam and it won't let you leave!!!!

I love Brussels sprouts!! I also had no idea I loved them until I started trying to lose weight. They are really good sautéed in sesame oil with salt and pepper. I was craving broccoli all month but for some reason my grocery store was always out or it looked rough when I went to buy it. Finally found some the other day…

Bahaha!! That's gold!! :D

Not me...I always get a serving and a half. ;)

You know, I was thinking I needed some little prep bowls for snacks.
-
Whaaaat? I need this!

I actually had a dream the other night I was eating honey bunches of oats out of a mixing bowl. It was full.

Peanut butter was depressing until I started actually making a pb&j sammich and I realized that a serving was quite a bit more than I would typically use anyway.. And when I eat ice cream I make sure it's something really good like talenti Caribbean coconut gelato...mmm...

Yeah, cereal was rough. Now instead of eating it with milk I eat it dry and just snack on the individual pieces. Cookie crisp is a good one for this. :#

My mom takes because she quit smoking and kept taking it for the mood stabilizing properties. It gave her a few panic attacks but they went away and overall she likes it. She did say, though, that it gave her nerve twitches like she used to get when she was addicted to meth. For some people it really ups your energy, but…

My sister is the same, except she doesn't put herself down to make me feel bad, she points out my flaws or makes fun of me. Usually in front of other people. Like when we were having a get together once and I had my hair in braids, she called me porkohontas (I was like 20 at the time, her 24 ish, so this wasn't a childhood…

+1 I wouldn't make it if I couldn't share. I can't say much for casual acquaintances or coworkers and whatnot, but as for family, you will find out who wants to hear. I talk about it a lot with my mom, brother, and husband, but my sister just doesn't want to hear it. I tried to help her with weight loss, bit she's still in…

I am using a vaporizer to quit. When I started with it and ditched the cigs I had a stall for about 3 weeks. Calorie intake was the same, even a little less, so it might have been a coincidence. It was hard even with the vapor as a crutch, so kudos to you and good luck!! My mom just quit as well, after being a smoker for…

The only reason a person should stay away from them is if they have a sensitivity or allergy...since you consume them often with no ill affects, then I think you are fine.

Food sensitivity questions aside, I'm losing just fine doing the moderation thing. I don't have IR either, and just scaling my calories down to about 1500-1600 per day is giving me a loss rate of ~1.5 lbs per week. I am 5'5" and about 200 right now, so you would have to adjust accordingly, of course. I have mine set to…

My husband is an officer in the US Navy and he has been informed he has to grow out his 'stash. I'm not excited really, just the moustache isn't a good look for him. :| I will be continuing my own regimen. No way would I let that go wild, being a 24 y/o woman. ;)

Greek yogurt has lots of protein. The Walmart brand I buy has 23g per serving (one cup) and only 120 calories for plain.

I do the 16-8 (roughly) naturally...I had no idea it was a thing until I joined the forums here. It works for me because once I start eating I get hungry again every couple hours.

There's a lot of unnecessary butthurt in this thread...jeez... My mom in her life has kicked alcoholism, a meth addiction, and most recently cigarettes. All without any programs. And she will be the first to tell you that, yes, she is a caffeine addict. My dad calls her a caf-fiend. (Lame dad joke, haha) Good job OP in…

I like to make custard pie. Eggs, milk, sugar, crust and spice basically. I cut the sugar in the recipes drastically and they are still satisfying.
