  • Any ideas why woman's clothing is measured as it is? I means I know men's isn't accurate but a 32 inch waist should be around 32 inches but what's a 14 and is there anything to stop it being changed as the example of MM shows it has been? Sorry if it's a bit of topic but it's got me wondering
  • Is this the maintaining forum? I thought it was general weight loss. Only saying as I haven't been on the mantanance one before so wouldn't of seen the post from the op.
  • I found when I first started to lose weight my stretch marks hurt, I checked with the doctor and she said when your skin is full of fat it sort of surports it's self but if you lose a small amount of fat there is less tension in the skin and it moves and sometimes rubs differently which was the discomfort. She also said as…
  • It's easier to lose 30 lb than it is to lose 50 lb than it is to lose 100 lb. It's your choice whether to start now or wait until your bigger and health causes you to become more serious about losing. Good luck hope you find your motivation x
  • What did you decide on in the end out of curiosity?
  • Same problem here it takes 48 hours for me to feel normal again after a coffee. First it's jittery then shaky then I feel exhausted then another burst of energy with an upset stomach before finally getting back to normal. Your not alone but why it affects some people more than others I don't know. ( a lot of sweets and…
  • I have lost 6 lb in 3 months but just redid body measurements and assuming I've put the tape measure in exactly the same spot I've lost 40 inches overall. ( even close to that I'm happy with) just goes to show that it's worth taking the time to check in with a tape measure occasionally especially when you have a lot to lose
  • Same issue for me, snacking and eating doesn't help at all so I just eat as normal and struggle through the feeling. I have found a regular patten for mine so I ensure I have only got my least favourite foods around and the fridge/ cupboard is almost empty then when I'm sorted again I go shopping! Helps keep temptation out…
  • I started weight training while in a small calorie deficit and in 4 months I've lost 4 lb but lost overall 40 inches so gone down 2 clothes sizes! I must look loads smaller as I keep getting comments saying I've lost loads of weight and no one believes it's only 4 lb. so if you want to look smaller rather than just be a…
  • I log weekly and use the reports on mfp to look at progress, not as detailed as some apps you can get but a good one to start with as your already on here x
  • How can you even say don't lick your fingers? What do you want us to do wash our hands instead?
  • I was losing half to 1 lb a week almost every week, started at the gym and went up 8lb! 3 weeks on I'm down to what I started as and now hope to start losing again so don't panic it will go , just temporary water weight x
  • Well done so far, that's a lot of weight lost! You seem to have a lot of small issues going on that added togeather are starting to get overwhelming. I would write them down in a list then make several strategies for dealing with each one, when you find something that works for one issue you can cross it off. For example…
  • You may be heavier at night than in the morning but if you always weigh at the same time you will notice the trend hopefully going down, may not look great if you compare weekly but once you have 6 months to a years worth of data to compare you notice the line is going down even if there are bumps in it!
  • Thanks everyone x I'll try a tiny bit more today x
  • Thank you, I do a bike as a warm up and did have to increase that as I was going too fast and my feet kept coming off the pedals and also do some treadmill work which I've increased the incline as flat made me unbalanced. I have loose joints so although I'm not under a doctor I don't want to rush the build up of weight if…
  • Mr Kipplings apple and blackberry pie is 215! Found this out after eating 3, should of checked first.
  • Just a thought, you are working out 4 X a week, what do you do with those calories? are they part of your 1600? How accurate is the amount burned number you are working from? No experience with this personally tbh but everyone has covered calories in weighing and logging etc so may be worth checking calories out, x
  • Have found a mug of instant hot chocolate very usefull for my sugar cravings. Have found one that is 36 calories per mug and by having that I can resist a chocolate bar ( 100 calories plus) also helps with drinking more and feeling full. I don't substitute it for my proper meals though only sweet cravings as a way of…
  • Mine is also curved , can't remember exact details as it was looked at 20 years ago by the professionals and I was only 13 at the time so didn't pay attention, I can bend forward and back ok and round to my left but can't go to the right. I was given gentle stretching exercises to help but basically told don't do anything…
  • I also didn't log it and I run 3 dogs! The few extra calories you lose from it are a nice bonus but every session will be different ratios of moving standing still and adjusting equipment so impossible to get right I'm afraid
  • I started at 20 stone, the bmi calculator said my max was 10 stone to be healthy. This number may not be 100 % right but I'm going to be a lot closer to a healthy weight than when I started so for me yes it is a good tool BUT ... When I get within that magic healthy range i aim to stay there, I may not be ideal fitness or…
  • You will probably find most people who post are the more dedicated forum users where as those who are more relaxed about measuring etc are more likely to lurk. It does work if you have a lot to lose, I've lost 7 stone so far with out using a scale but with just over 3 stone to go I'm finding it slower going so have weighed…
  • Use a smaller shopping trolley so by time you get to the sweet/ biscuit/ cake isle it's almost full and you don't throw packets in just to fill it up x
  • I oftern forget a meal and more times than not it's lunch. If iv had a biggish breakfast and a busy day it just doesn't cross my mind. Unfortunately the second I remember iv forgotton to eat my body/ mind or maybe both start to panic so I'll eat dinner as normal then without meaning to all pick all evening mindlessly…
  • Don't take medication that can cause you harm. Being over weight is bad for you and losing weight can be hard but at least hunger pains won't kill you . As others have said play around with food types and meal timings to find what helps you feel less hungry and maybe decrease your loss to start with. It takes a lot of…
  • I have never been to a gym and if I did go I would never even think about it affecting other people and I imagine I would have a good spray before going in so I didn't smell as well as puting more on after a shower. As I'm sure I'm not the only one to not know this do gyms ect have notices to warn of this problem?…
  • As far as I'm aware fitness is more important than weight for the millatry so find out what the required exersises are and work on them with weight loss a secondary benifit for now, when you start with the navy your whole lifestyle and diet will change anyway x good luck
  • Sorry ment different food needs but can't figure out how to edit!
  • You mention your oftern over on sodium and althought this won't make you gain weight it could be making you retain water. If you have been at this weight for a while then you are eating at maintanance even if you think your not but if it's a recent thing don't worry it's normal. What you should think about is that it's not…
