  • Turns out I was worried about nothing. Everything syncs fine, no doubling issues. Hope this helps anyone who has the same concern
  • Just got myself a Garmin instinct and moving over from fitbit. It would be great to get some more friends both on here and garmin connect so feel free to add me on either/both. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/profile/pirnie13 Up for challenges too!
  • Thanks @heybales you always seem to have answers to these sorts of questions! So if I understand what you're saying correctly, things will work out correctly, it just can take some time for everything to balance out. Is that right?
  • There is an activity on fitbit called "Driving" If you know when you started and ended your drive you can log it and it will negate all your steps from this time period. I use this for the 4-6000 steps I usually pick up on a bike ride.
  • It all depends what your activity level is set to on MFP. I set mine to sedentary and so 8k steps can easily equate to 700 exercise calories (I'm 6ft4 and 100kg). However if I were set to a medium activity it would be much lower as some of that burn would be accounted for in the activity level setting. Maybe around 2-300?…
  • Could it be related to the time of year? It's getting colder where I am right now which means more vasoconstriction, less blood flow at the surface of the skin and therefore a harder time to measure HR optically
  • Mines syncing again, although I've had to relink ecru) every app I connect to mfp over the past 24 hours to get them all to work
  • Check the contacts on the back. No idea what the charger on the blaze looks like, but on my charge HR the contacts would get a layer of corrosion/gunk on them that would stop them charging. If I scraped it off with a small screwdriver or similar it would charge again. Have a look at the back and if the contacts look dull…
  • I set my goals separately in both (they don't link) and log weight in MFP which transfers to fitbit
  • Just a thought, are height and weight set correctly in both apps? I know this has caused problems for people before
  • I'd never seen that happen but completely see how it could! I guess I've just got lucky so far, or not had Fitbit record higher calories. Cheers for all the tips!
  • Hey, thanks for that. Really useful info about how sync works behind the scenes. If I'm right the calorie burn shouldn't be an issue. I record my rides on my Garmin computer, which sends the calorie burn to MFP, which then sends it to Fitbit. If I understand right then this should override whatever calories Fitbit thought…
  • Never mind, starts working as soon as I post! Typical! Haha
  • If you have a fitbit with an HR sensor, it'll be using that for the calorie burn so I wouldn't expect to see a change even when you change activity types. Without an HR sensor, I'm not sure I'm afraid. If you want, in the settings, you can disable detection of certain activities such as "Outdoor Bike" and then maybe it…
  • Mine seems to be syncing intermittently now. I guess there's some back end problem that'll hopefully be fixed soon
  • Mine now seems to have synced about half an hour ago and be updating on the hour and half hour, but not regularly like it normally does. Hopefully it'll be back working soon
  • I'm getting an accurate calorie correction on MFP now, so hopefully we'll have a fix soon  Still no food synced to fitbit though
  • @ridge4mfp Trendweight updates from fitbit, so if fitbit isn't being updated by MFP, trendweight won't be either
  • Haha, yeah mines the same. My other apps are syncing with fitbit just fine so it might well be on the mfp end, which hopefully means it'll be fixed soon
  • Cool, cheers. Good to know the problem isn't with my accounts
