A stressful day, today, but I made it without succumbing to booze (bairly!)

4 weeks AF today; feeling good and sleeping well. Skin is clearer and the fog clears earlier in the morning :D

I agree with you completely. There does seem to be a 'militant' element to some of the members who can be quite critical of others opinions. Saying that, I think the majority of members are similar to you and I - looking for support, advice and friendship. Ignore the others, life is too short! :)

This 'new adjustment' is one reason why I change my exercise calories to 1. It encourages you to eat more than really need, especially if you miscalculated the calories you burned.
-
Am I wrong, but I seem to remember from 2/3 years ago, MFP did not adjust specific macros for your food diary when you added your exercise? I seem to remember seeing the exercise calories shown at the top, subtracted from your goal/calories consumed showing how many calories you could still eat, but this did not filter…

I have my goal set at losing 1kg per week, where in reality I've lost around 1.6kilos a week.

Funnily, no one has asked me how much exercise I actually do! I normally warm up for 15 on indoor bike, then 32 sets of weights, pyramid sets, on 8 machines. This normally takes an hour. When I swim it is normally 500 metres to cool off/stretch after lifting, so again another 15 minutes of cardio. So, in total 30 mins…

I am able to lift more weight on specific machines and dumbbells then I could 3 weeks ago. Whether it is as a result of increased strength or muscle mass is debatable. All I know is my clothes feel loser, I feel healthier and I am measurably stronger. My calorie deficit is mainly due to cutting out junk and booze. I am…

Lets be clear. I am not offering advice, only sharing my own experience; a big difference. You on the other hand are offering advice, which of course I and others appreciate.

TBH, I guess my 2200 calories is based on 2lbs a week loss, or thereabouts. I set my only ratio of fat/protein/carbs on MFP and I normally fall a little below the calorie goal, except on a gym day where I might go slightly over with protein shakes. Like I said before, as long as I feel healthy and not starved, I'm ok. We…

Extra calories are easily consumed when a bottle of wine contains 450/500 calories. Add to this the junk I would normally eat with the wine- peanuts, crisps, chocolate, all items I do not need because I am not necessarily hungry. In fact, they are the reason I gained weight in the first place! Cutting 1000 calories of junk…

I measure arm circumference and track all my lifting on excel. I've increasing my max load and volume as per normal over the last few weeks while I've lost the weight. I continue to increase my lifts by small degrees and my arms are more or less the same size as a month ago, maybe a tiny bit larger. If I feel myself…

Based on what I would normally eat, and what I'm eating now 1000 calories just seems like a lot. Saying that, I must be close to 1000 if I were to include alcohol or junk which I'm no longer eating/drinking?
-
A 1000 calorie deficit does seems pointless and confusing. I've managed to lose the weight and not the muscle, something I was worried about at first, but not so much now (after the last week's gym visits). I've managed to eat well with healthy portion sizes, no junk, lots of filling fruit and veg, and have not felt hungry…

Certainly does!

i think the biggest factor, if I'm honest, is not drinking and cutting out the junk food. I'm still eating 2200 calories a day and weight training/swimming 3 times a week. I'm now 105 kilos, 6' 3" and 49 yrs old. I'm eating high protein with lots of fruit and veg, tons of water and sleeping well. My BMI was 31.1 at 110…

My Polar RCX5 heart-rate monitor works in the pool, gym, bike, running (has GPS, cadence etc). Fully waterproof and you can count laps by pushing the large red button below the watch face. Only issue is with the chest strap slipping, but I compensate by wearing a short sleeve compression top which fits tight and provides…

Greek yogurt, milk, banana, peanut butter, vanilla essence, flaxseed and a few cubes of ice. High in protein, good fats and carbs. Made this exact shake this afternoon; very yummy!

Two weeks sober today, I started a few days early after my friends 50th b-day party on the last Saturday in September :D

Ahhh! That makes sense and is simple; thank you very much!

I've signed back up with MFP after a 2 year break. I lift heavy, but am still trying to lose a bit of weight and burn fat; a difficult combo! I will post my excercise once I lose a bit of weight as I don't like the excercise calories being automatically subtracted from my nutritional goals. Does anyone know how to stop the…

AF 11 days and feeling good. Sleeping well, eating well and feeling less stressed..

I have 0% Greek yogurt and flaxseed in my morning smoothie (along with banana, bluberries and 1% milk), very healthy for you!

I wish you the beat. I'm 240lbs and 6' 2" I need to lose about 40lbs to take pressure of knees, reduce uric acid (gout!) and keep up with the kids. :)

Happy to hear from anyone trying to lose some weight, AND not lose any muscle; a tough miricle to pull off! :p

Diced sweet potato with skin on, roasted in extra virgin olive oil with whole cloves of garlic and sprigs of rosemary; let it colour/brown nicely. Very yummy!

Try weighing the liquid, you may be suprised how close ml are to kg. I was a chef for 25 yrs and it works for most liquids (Thomas Keller recommends this in one of his cookbooks???)

Well done; ODAAT. Bill would be proud....

Protein bars are a good snack and will keep you going for an hour or so. Also nuts and seeds are great for protein and make a healthy snack if salt free.
