  • Hi, I'm post menopausal, too. I'm 5'3", almost 49 years old and have lost 46 pounds since last April. I'm also sedentary as its described. I reached and exceeded my goal a while back and have been zeroing in on my maintenance calories ever since (still losing a wee bit). I couldn't be bothered with tracking my macros, it…
  • Yes, this is what I've found to be true for me, too. I'm 5'3" and when I reached my "goal weight" of 126 I still had a lot of fat around my middle and backside. I figured it must be my age (48), maybe lose skin, but I only had around 40 pounds to lose so that didn't seem right. As I've attempted to find my maintenance…
  • Regarding pasta with jarred spaghetti sauce specifically: My jarred sauce says it's 5 servings so I measure out 5 portions of pasta to go with. Once its all cooked I put an empty bowl on the scale, tare it out, then add the mixed pasta and sauce. Divide by 5 to get my grams per serving and portion it all out. Voila!…
  • Ahhhh! It IS next week! Criminy.
  • I've seen threads like this before, its fascinating how individual we are when it comes to deciding on our "ideal weight". I'm 48 years old, 5'3" and weigh 124 pounds and for me, this is ideal. Now I just need to tone and strengthen.
  • Heres a slightly different angle: When I was a kid, my mom said some pretty damaging things to me always followed by the statement that its best if she "tells me before anyone else does". As I grew up and realized how effed up that was I made it clear to her that any and all comments about my physical appearance were off…
  • This is a very good example of how we create our own reality. Years of accumulated negative mind noise doesn't always go away once we reach a certain size or number on the scale or tape. I fluxuate back and forth myself with the residue of self shaming- the suggestion about trying on clothes that your mind tells you will…
  • It took me a few years of shopping at the Ren Faire to realize that my fingers will swell even with just meandering about, and so whichever rings I decide to purchase will be slightly "too small" when I'm trying them on. I know I'm a size 4 on my ring finger so thats what I stick with regardless of the fit at the time.
  • I noticed that phenomenon, too. I hit my final, final goal recently and now I'm slowly adding calories to find my maintenance sweet spot... but dang it all, I'm hungrier now than I was when I was eating only 1200 calories a day. Its a bit frustrating, but I'm cutting myself some slack and when the hunger pangs start in…
  • 5'3" and now weigh 125. I was going to stop at 130 then 127 but when I reached 127 I realized I just felt better physically so I went down to 125 so I'd have 127 as my upper end- which makes me really happy and pretty darn comfortable.
  • I started gradually increasing my calories when I hit my second and now final goal of 127 pounds. I'm still slooooowly increasing to find my maintenence calories so I can stay within range of +/- 3 pounds. As far as "junk food" goes, I incorporated my yummies into my weight loss plan. Depriving myself of chips and my…
  • I'll likely log for a long time. I get something out of the routine and the security of knowing how much I'm eating. I may relax it some, but I really doubt it. It feeds my OCD in a glorious way
  • I made a nice sausage, kale and cheese fritatta for breakfasts for the week. It gets tastier as the week goes on and it's sticking with me much longer than the greek yogurt I usually have.
  • My husband has lost 45 pounds so far and has been experiencing tailbone pain since around the 20 pound loss mark. He went to the doctor, (had an xray to rule out a fracture etc) The doc said that unfortunatly this can happen to some folks when they lose weight, it can either correct itself relatively quickly or go on for a…
  • I have nothing to add except to say that I *love* pineapple and pepperoni pizza... never thought of adding hot peppers, great idea!
  • One other thing I thought of: If you live near a hospital, usually they will have a consignment shop which benefits the hospital. I'm all for wearing my clothes until it just gets ridiculous to do so, but for those pieces I have to buy, I've been going to the re-sale shops.
  • I'm 5'3, 48 years old and weigh 127 pounds. I only do occasional push-ups and walk for cardio a few times a week. My initial goal was to weigh 135 pounds and see where I wanted to go from there, now at 127 I feel better physically than I did at 135 and at 130. At this point, I think I'll shoot for 125 to have the bump room…
  • I've found the recipies on the MFP Blog to be pretty tasty and low calorie by design. Specifically I like broth based soups are usually a good way to go, too.
  • I'll have 56 grams of tuna, 7 grams of mayo and 1 oz of chips
  • My go to is Goodwill, also. In fact both my husband and I have purchased almost all of our clothes there for a long time now. I bought a really cute pair of size 6 jeans for $3 and an adorable blazer that was on sale for $1.75 last weekend. Lots of styles and sizes and when they no longer fit, donate them back!
  • Potato chips are a trigger for me, but over the last few months I've gotten used to enjoying exactly 28 grams of them when I have them. If it's a week when I don't buy a bag at the market I've found that a serving of bread and butter pickles is a nice stand in.
  • Ah, that all makes so much sense! Thanks everyone
  • I'm 5'3" 129 pounds and pear shaped. Yesterday I bought size 6 jeans that look great on me and fit perfectly (yay!). This morning I went through all my jeans from before my weight loss for donation and my size 12 Levi's Bootcut Curvy still also fit. Not as snug as they were before, now they're comfortable and quite…
  • I'm going through this now, too. I saw my doc and he said weight loss is most certainly a factor.
  • So true. I've been weighing all my food since the beginning and though I hope to be able to eventually accuratly estimate in the future I think I'll always have to measure pasta... while ultimatly filling, the serving size for for penne is disturbingly small
  • Excellent!
  • Me, I love bread, but I did cut it out for a while to cut calories. I usually make lunch by rolling turkey breast around cheese and dipping in dijon mustard or I'll mix half a can of tuna with 1/2 serving of mayo and salt and eat it with a fork. It tastes good so I don't miss the bread once I get past the initial "thinking…
  • Every single day. In fact, I wake up excited to step on the scale.
  • Thanks, everyone, it feels really good. I so enjoy being part of this community.
