  • It all depends on you - your tastes and food tolerances - but a great range of options for you to try are mentioned here! I started out with almond milk, but discovered I'm intolerant to nuts. Switched to rice and now I'm a fan of coconut because I'm now low carb. I like both the coconut beverage for a milk substitute and…
  • Sugar is a health issue for everyone. It's just not well known. Sugar from unrefined sources like fruit is processed very differently in real life than added sugar. That's because nobody eats 20 apples. But it's easy to eat the equivalent in baked goods or candy.
  • PS: But I agree, if you do end up going to fast food, just peel off the bun and maybe get a side salad so you don't overdo the fries :)
  • I do love this there is no wagon... But I'll just add, I have been gluten free for 20 years and I do manage to eat in restaurants. My big lesson from the last 20 years? Avoid fast food! Go to nicer restaurants, and get a cut of meat (you can even nix the starch and ask for double veggies). Also, look on yelp and put in…
  • Chicken liver pate.... look up the Julia Child recipe and have on toast with pickles. Also I love the skewered grilled chicken hearts at the Japanese place...
  • Leftover meat I sometimes stash as a snack, also I like Epic bars, gluten-free beef jerky, and Real Sticks.

He figured out he was wrong. Nobody paid attention!) It does NOT raise the cholesterol to eat cholesterol -…
  • You might want to check out the wonderful book "Mindless Eating" by Brian Wansink. Not a diet book exactly, but full of insight into eating habits and a lot of help identifying your own bad habits and addressing them. It's a fascinating book I'd recommend to anyone wanting to lose weight!
  • It's not just me, then! It also took me a while to figure it out, and tracking with MFP really helped. >>Makes sense, doesn't it. How else are we supposed to absorb the fat soluble nutrients in vegetables.<< Yes, I completely agree. I always put some fat on my veggies. We increase absorption of some of the vitamins in the…
  • I find that I need to eat a balance of a lot of protein, fat, and fiber. But what's surprised me is that if I eat no carbs, or too few, I get hungry VERY suddenly and sooner. If I shoot for about 20 net carbs from fruit or starch at a meal as well, my satiety ramps down more slowly and lasts longer. This gives me time to…
