I'm usually too tired to cook rather than eat so keep a supply of hard boiled eggs, baby bel cheese and soup handy so I can grab something and have a meal in moments. Or instant hot chocolate work for me too.

Look for a beginner's running group near you, running with others who are in the same boat might help you to feel no-one is looking specifically at you!

UK Starbuck's ginger snaps or almond biscotti are lovely, grab and go by the till. The berry good bircher is divine! For other coffee chain choices, here are some of my personal favourites. If you go to EAT, they do amazing smoked crunchy corn kernels which come in little packets next to the till. Costa have yummy mini…

The walking group goes at the pace of the slowest person and we have stops as required (often for photos!), so that's really good. On my own I might walk more briskly if I know I've only time to fit in a short walk than if I was going on a longer one. I try to go no faster than being a little out of puff but still able to…

Th Thanks! To be honest, I hate swimming but cycling at the gym is ok.

I'm doing a minimum of 30 minutes a day but it does vary depending on work, if I've got a gym session; usually it's no more than 90 minutes in one go although sometimes I might have managed 2 or 3 shorter walks on one day.

Thank you for all your replies which have all been very positive and helpful; I have enjoyed spinning, running, body combat, boxing and body balance classes in the past and want to get back to those. I'm 6 weeks in and feel frustrated and overwhelmed by meal planning and prep, logging and fitting in exercise along with…

I think she feels that I'm doing too much walking and could injure myself; she also keeps saying that at this point it's all about what I eat and not the exercise that will help me lose weight.

I saw an excellent podiatrist who specialised in sports related foot problems, I now have amazing orthotics that really help; rest, non-stop icing and stretching as advised by him helped too. I also saw a physio on his advice where I had acupuncture, I knew someone who swore it helped her PF; I thought it was very good…

Glad I read this post because I do eat a lot of fruit and was annoyed about the red sugar number; now changed my settings to track fibre instead! Thanks for the info!

I don't have a recipe but it makes a great risotto.

Cod loin baked with pesto; salmon fillets marinated in soy sauce, ginger, garlic and lemon juice then grilled; monkfish tails wrapped in parma ham and baked; tuna steaks marinated in lime juice, chilli and garlic; kedgeree with smoked haddock. Go to your local fishmonger or store with a wet fish counter and talk to them…

Been there done that so many times which is why I need to lose 70lbs! Ordering in pizza, chinese or fish and chips allowed me to order enough food for 2 or even 3 people!

Thanks for that information, very helpful.

If it was 50 or 60 calories I would do that, but it's such a huge discrepancy!

I like it when I make curry but otherwise I'm not a fan eating it any other way.

Have you thought about eating tofu for breakfast?

Nakd Nibbles in Salted Caramel or Coconut Bliss. Yum and the coconut ones are like eating coconut ice.

Slow but steady and you can get there; I'm 42 and weigh 235lbs, hope to lose between 50 and 70lbs in a year. It will take hard work and planning but will be worth it to be fitter, stronger, healthier and leaner!

Porridge with fruit, seeds and Greek yogurt; wholemeal bagel with nut butter and banana; scrambled egg with avocado and chopped tomato on rye bread toast; lean bacon with sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, sugar free baked beans and a poached egg (healthy fry up at the weekend!)
