No, small sustainable changes are where it's at. Do you drive a stick shift? If you do, you'll know you go through ALL the gears to get up to full speed. This can be similar. Make a few changes; when that feels comfortable, make a few more. Keep building on each success. xo

Agree... That's an excuse. If you wait, you'll find a new excuse to match the new season. Having targeted losses, however, can be very smart. So set yourself to the least ambitious level & get really really good at this during the holiday season. Win, win.

Robert, you always bring such a decisive brand of wisdom to these conundrums!

Endurance! I've got another medal for that!

You win the internets today, sir! I only made it to 4203. But I was just in Texas where I ate two meals: huevos divorciados for breakfast in Dallas, then steak milanese with chile con queso at a tex mex diner in El Paso. Both were amazing!

                Great post rabbit!

Hahaha @WinoGelato ... that feeling is the WORST! and I was wearing stretch leggings!! ~hangs head in shame~

I tracked... I ate 4203 calories. It's reasonably accurate. We started with a mimosa breakfast @ my SILs and ended with a pie course at about 8pm. In between courses I walked 8 miles on Danville's iron horse trail that runs through beautiful wooded residential neighborhoods. I spent most of last week on a roadtrip thru the…

Had a very nice TGiving @ my MIL's. Boy is it nice to reach my own home tonight! 18855 steps, 8.1 miles. Most of it walking the Iron Horse trail in Danville, CA.

I'm simple too. The feast days didn't make me fat; it was all the intervening days of inattention. Earlier this fall I had a very enjoyable & successful week of vacation in DC where I walked, biked, ate & drank with gusto and still lost weight. This week was different; I took a road trip driving 500-700 miles a day to help…

I love Coke Zero. I mean LOVE it! But never more than 12 oz in a day. And not every day of the week. I treat it with a healthy respect, like I would beer or wine, despite its having no calories. Metabolic studies show it still has an impact digestively. What would be the harm in swapping out 3 of your 4 cokes with water &…

Another nice hike-then-drive day on the road yesterday... Our last as we arrived at my MIL's last night. Everyone is delighted to have my husband home for the first time in 4 1/2 months. Ironically, a new job he wants was posted just last night... If he gets this one, we'll be back at this again by April or May. Life!!…

                Great score on the boots!

I personally don't log any washing, cleaning, or gardening. I figure it just helps to be doing it without logging it! I count steps away from home because I carry my phone in my pocket. Steps around my home usually go uncounted. Just my way of keeping track...

Great walking Winnie. I've been AWOL! just hard to keep up with the road trip we've been on... So I think I left off at last Friday, a good day. Saturday, a bad day! My indoor cat disappeared out an open door, but came home that night. Still, stressful. Managed to get 10551 steps, 4.5 miles. Sunday, a close-but-no-cigar…

No fair, huh? I was in Las Cruces. Carne adovado & pecan flapjacks. Split it with my husband. I'll work it off after thanksgiving...

No biggie! You'll be fine. The recoveries count way more than the fumbles...

But I'm no role model. I've been on a three day road trip where I've over eaten and under walked through 4 states... Thanksgiving is just an afterthought! I will be finding my religion when I get back home Friday.

                Yes!! All of it!!

@winnie141 oh yes tartar is always involved but highly diluted by tons of malt vinegar I worry this thread is going to get me sent to food rehab. I love food! But I do have other interests too... Like... errrr.... drinking! High Desert Brewery has a very fine holiday ale on tap. Mellow little place. I recommend it.

Hahaha! @robertw486 I'm on the road in las cruces eating tacos. MFP just warned me when I closed out my food log for the day that if I keep eating & (not) exercising exactly like today I'll weigh 5 lbs more in five weeks. Egads! Tex mex food is confusing to Californios like me. I ordered a breakfast taco this morning in…

It's not like we all haven't had those periods in our lives!! All the best to you... xoxoxo

I felt less bloated which made my clothes fit better in the first few weeks. Went from 12's to 10's after the first 15. Still got that damned double chin. Work in progress ;)

I know... Sighs... In my real home magical skittle pooping unicorns really do make you thin! And tall! And above average! If I could only find a way to teleport back ~snorts~

Hahaha! @daniwilford We would have a LOT to talk about on a long walk! tee hee

Daily & I love it. Total 180 change for me. Fluctuations don't bug me now that I understand the process better. Would hate to miss that exciting first appearance of each new lower number! Sometimes I really have to be patient and waaaaaaait for it; other times a number disappears in a whoosh and I never see it again. I…
