Love it as a treat, order anything I want now & again. Spicy eggplant or those fat chow fun noodles... rawrrrr! But those dark soy based sauces just kill me with water bloat. :-/ At home I like a simple stir fry over cauliflower rice.

Nod. Smile warmly. Encourage him to eat two rounds.

Like walking around the block at 10 pm? Yup, done that. Like parking in the same spot at the furthest end of that row of central parking that isn't convenient to ANY store when I visit Costco, Target & TJoe's? Yup; I expect they'll paint my name on the spot sometime soon. Like always being the person who volunteers to run…

Mine seems to work fine. I only take the walking & cardio class burns the HR automatically picks up on; my yoga and lifting don't really register and I don't log or track them. I'm sure I burn some extra calories but I figure those even out any logging inaccuracies from the food side. I use it everyday to pick the deficit…

If you're anywhere near las cruces you are where I want to be!!! (Northern Calofornian dreaming of escaping to NM)

Thanks, I missed that little detail... This is fact: if your weight neither moves up nor down for a period of months you can rest assured you are at maintenance. Food intake is easier to measure objectively than energy output. I do think your cups and spoons may have gotten 'fluffy' with time & familiarity. Knock them…

Two days is nothing. Commit to two months & let us know how it goes. When I started I labelled ten 10-week sessions by date in the 'notes' section of my phone. I told myself I didn't care if I only lost 5 lbs each ten week session, but I was going to move the 50 lbs of overweight I had become and transform my health. Of…

I don't record my lifting or my yoga calories, and I do about 2 hours of lifting and 4 hours of yoga a week. There's no accurate way to measure so I figure it acts as insurance against other logging inaccuracies. My walking and Zumba or UrbanKick calories I capture with my Fitbit and can be pretty well assured are…

But as someone said above, if your LBM was brought down in the process your current TDEE might be lower. Anyhow, the past is past. Daydreaming about what worked before isn't doing diddly squat for your case now. If you insist on the cups/spoons & are adamantly anti food scale (sounds silly but this is your 'thing') you…

Yes, body comp and body type make for crazy comparisons in terms of sizes. I'm 5'6" and at my largest, 200 lbs, I wore size 31/32 in virtually any brand of quality jeans (Paige, Hudson, etc) which is basically a size 12 or 14. I wore some larges and some medium tops. I wore all large jackets to accommodate my shoulders &…

My Aria synchs every day. I use the weekly average weight it gives me as my 'official' weight for that week.

Recomp is the game changer. Also, try to determine your approximate lean body mass using a measurement based algorithm online & photo comparison... Knowing about how much LBM you carry will help you realize what is a realistic weight range for you. Sometimes people want to travel back in time to a version of themselves…

Weekly works great for me.

I LURVE my Aria. It seems very accurate. I ignore the BF reading. And yes, I spy on everyone's weight in the family!

I'm making a leap of faith here and assuming 'clean' just means wholesome and relatively unprocessed to you, and you are not participating in some kind of Gwyneth Paltrowesque elimination of all the foods. So if I'm correct in my assumption, I would not go out of my way to provide special snowflake food for an able bodied…

I plan meals for a family of three, all involved in athletics. I partially prep because the volume of fresh food we buy wouldn't fit in our fridge if I didn't trim it up. So my 'prepping' consists of dividing meats for the dishes I'll be making, cleaning vegetables and cutting them in advance for how we'll use them. That's…

The season in which you consistently show up to do the work...

I never understand this kind of thinking. Enjoy your holiday as-is and hit it harder when you get back. Lots of unnecessary drama over 7 lbs.

Excellent DOMS story. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

I would like it if my fitbit counted tacos. I have goals.

It's not going to magically happen. You need a plan. And if you are already rowing, walking & gardening you need to clearly understand that this will require taking your activity up a notch. First off, you can't out walk or out row several hundred calories of wine a night. I have reduced my alcohol consumption in two ways:…

Gorgeous is your number sweetie. Just flippin' gorgeous!

If you are hungry all the time you are probably not eating adequate protein for your lean body mass (subtract your approximate fat percentage). And you might want to make sure you get enough healthy fats. Those two things make me feel satiated. Also you need to find what works for you personally. When there are sweets a…

Somebody needs to create a version of that flow chart for these weight variation emergencies... Our weight varies. Always. All day. Probably all night. Forever. Then we're compost & it doesn't matter as much. LOL!

Yes, very worth a bookmark...

Just a few things: If 1200 calories feels easy, it's probably more than 1200 calories. If you are using those quick adds & just recording what you thought you ate on the fly, you are probably forgetting a lot. That's much more common than you might think. And yes, 2 lbs of loss is hard to maintain like clockwork. Weight…

Thanks everybody!

Just get back on. I do log it all, even if it's just approximations. The practice of restarting after a flop is probably one of the most important skill sets we will all need to master. So I chalk it up as practice & keep on going.

Hi! My friend and I started stronglifts last month. We learned we are really, really, really beginners at this. We spent a few weeks just getting used to an empty 20lb pole! LOL We also missed some dates due to illness and travel. A few gym guys have been super welcoming & pointed out form stuff to us all along. We also…
