You are speaking my language. I love to walk. I now have a full schedule of workouts: Zumba, yoga, kickboxing, strong lifts, cycling, etc. but walking remains near & dear to my heart. When I was my heaviest & most disorganized in terms of my health, walking was the thing I could do with the least amount of fuss or…

Eat when youre honestly hungry, but don't go overboard 'punishing' yourself. Just get back on track where you are. Instead of reacting emotionally, try to look at it with a dispassionate curiosity... Where did it start to go off the rails and why? Could you have planned differently? What might you try instead next time you…

Lots of posts about alcohol & water retention, alcohol & calorie budgets, alcohol & extra snacking, alcohol & holidays... very few about blackout binge drinking. One of these things is not like the others. Get some help with this.

Getting your diet nailed IS job one, but some walking could also do wonders for you as a pre-diabetic. Easiest would probably be to train yourself to get up and get going in the morning early enough to accommodate 30 minutes of walking before work. If that seems 'hard,' Google some graphic pictures of advanced diabetics…

I make a batch of breakfast burritos to freeze. You can customize these for fewer calories; I'm always going for max protein. Flour tortilla filled with scrambled egg, grated cheese, a few cooked tater tots (I like the WFoods version) and cooked turkey chorizo by Diestel. Delicious!!!

This week is taco Wednesday because I forgot to soak the beans :-/ But I love tacos too. All kinds. Eat 'em up, yum!

If you want to bridge the walking to running, walk for speed goals by tracking splits and add hills. But by all means talk to the doc first.

I am a walker, not a runner. I walk or hike, dance & lift a little. I am losing weight. You may find running gets easier as you slim down. It is true that all the walking in the world can't necessarily get you to a deficit if you are overeating. Follow MFP's recommendation for that, or Fitbits (or equivalent) if you wear a…

Great advice!

@cafeaulait7 I do love shrimp & grits with greens too...

I ate at maintenance. So I might not lose as much this week, but there won't be any lasting gains! I do love my buffalo wings. I never order them out. Hard to stop at just five...

I would say what you've described comes down to personal preferences based on grooming routines, work commutes, home life and individual circadian rhythms. I don't like to see people inserting vigorous workouts too closely abutted to their night time sleep schedule because I think sleep hygiene issues can follow.…

The answer is still 'no' but you are right about consistency. Also some joggers are REALLY slow & injured looking... A brisk walk would do their bodies good. I am a walker through & through. I use the extra time for deep thoughts :-)

Why the arbitrary vacation deadline AND a specific size? Break that thought into two sentences... 'I want to get in the best shape possible, starting right now, for my vacation in July.' and 'I think I would look and feel really good around a size 16 so my goal is to lose X sizes.' See what I did there? Weight loss is not…

I like the consistency tip above. I sometimes try to replicate at home, too, especially if it's something I know I'll order again. And if it's a finished dish I'll never make & probably never see again I look in our database for a Paula Deen version as my 'worst case scenario' guesstimate...

Also have iron checked. My daughter felt this sort of fatigue that was out of proportion when she was anemic.

All I can say is my naughty foods are WAYYYY naughtier than yours! Muesli bar?? ~snorts~ sorry:couldn't resist!

Yes, this is a medical question not a weight loss forum question. And it impacts both you and your child. You need to ask a doctor, nurse or midwife.

Don't eat farmed salmon if you appreciate a world with wild salmon...

You mentioned 11 days. Out of 365. That would leave you 354 days to be more mindful of what you eat. Or you could, like, me, make room in your calories everyday for a little treat or two. Because life happens. :)[/quote] THIS! still not even 80/20... Do whatever you want between your own hand & mouth but there are plenty…

You need to be in a deficit to lose weight. If you are maintaining 130 with that activity, you are not in a deficit! Make sure your 1400 cals is really the correct number you are eating.

Im like the above. Walk every day but vary the intensity & put 24 hrs recovery between everything else. That keeps me injury free. When I need a day off mentally or physically I just take one.
-
Also, it depends on how much you've always walked. If you're heavy and already walking several miles a day, well... There's your answer! Now I don't like to hear walking dissed for weight loss because it is 'activity'. You just might need more of it, or at a higher intensity. When I started MFP I tracked my walking &…

Another thought: up your healthy fats. In some people I think the sweet cravings are really for the fats that so often accompany sweets when they are trying to stay too low in fats.

I am sugar agnostic. I just don't love it personally. I eat 3-4 veggies to every single serving of fruit. My favorite fruits are tomatoes & avocados. I make my own salad dressings, pasta sauces, enchilada sauces, sloppy joe base, etc from scratch because lots of stupid sugars lurk in commercially prepared versions. If I…

Yes, weighing portions is a must!!!! Also: whole eggs instead of whites unless there's some other medical concern at play; full fat yogurt ditto; you leave off any oils for cooking or dressing which seems utterly unrealistic, so measure & add them in or try using them. That alone would bump a 900-1000 calorie day up to…

Yes, check your logging practices. People who say they are full on 1000 calories are often actually eating more....

You didn't gain. You fluctuated. Time to get used to it! I fluctuate every week. It's only by tracking my aria's weekly average weight that I see a steady downward trajectory.
-
Every day! I like the data & have made peace with the fluctuations...

We never hear from people with your kinds of goals again... I could spend time questioning the premise of some of what you've said (1000 calorie burns? Day after day like a cookie cutter?) but I won't. Best of luck to you!
