Seriously, you'll do any crazy thing to wear a sorry old pair of pants from the back of your closet for three days? Borrow some pants that fit & start getting real about your health when you get home.

Ha! Good one. Shave your head if you must but keep logging...

You're losing something; I don't think any body is able to convert fat at that pace however. There are very very very few 'special snowflake' instances when it comes to science.
-
And you're not 'keeping track of every calorie' between here and October right now are you? You're just keeping track of today's calories. One day at a time. Or, do nothing and stay the same. Maybe even get fatter. Your choice!
-
I just don't see things that way. Honestly, how long have you been fat? If it's anything longer than last October well, there you go...

I'm a sub. Teaching is a good profession for weight loss. We're on our feet all day. Start counting steps. Learn a rough estimate of your TDEE. Stop all grazing on kid snacks from the cupboards and birthday cake or pizza from the teachers lounge. Go straight to a walk or lifting some weights when the school day ends. Prep…

PS there are a lot fewer women who need to eat 1200 cals to lose than do, in my humble opinion. Everybody starts there but it's so restrictive! Yuck. I lose at much higher numbers.

Calorie burn calculators are the worst. I wear a Fitbit HR. Before the HR I would get a 500-600 calorie burn for doing an hour of Zumba. I've had a nagging knee injury so I did class low impact for awhile. My burns were different after every class with the HR ranging from about 357 calories to 478 last night now that the…

Glad you checked back in. It's hard but take a deep breath & figure backwards: if your weight doesn't change over a matter of months you're at maintenance. That's not the worst thing that could happen, right? You've got a fun workout routine in place. Now you just need to fine tune a deficit for consistent loss. Have you…

No. I honestly quite like it.

Oh and I am a special ed sub. Those little darlings will walk right up to you and sneeze full on in your face followed by a big hug. I love my work but I get EVERYTHING that travels through the public schools even with hand washing to the elbows and removing all my school clothing the moment I get home. So I know what I'm…

I'm not a big fan of 'motivation'... It's romantic & dreamy & pie in the sky. We all need it from time to time but it's like pixie dust, just a little will do. I personally am held in place by a kind of sloppy framework of band aid like rythms and routines that dictate for me 'if this, then this' or 'first this, followed…

If I'm under I don't worry by how much; if I'm hungry I eat within reason trying to keep as close to weekly maintenance as I can. If I go over that too I shrug my shoulders and move on. I've not gained weight from being sick, that's for sure.

I think some family counseling is in order. I missed some of the issues my first time through. You are probably both still hurting inside. A good family therapist could help you unravel this skein of hopes, fears, hurts, losses and triggers.

If you want help opening your diary is the first step. No one your age & size gains on 800 calories. You're probably not logging as tightly as you should & eating more than you think. Think about it: no one has ever gone into famine sites or thrown open the doors of prisons and found 'special' outlier heavyset people who…

So you live in his home? And he pays for your college? And he says things to you as a physician that he knows to be clinically true? And you have a problem with this? Why don't you use this time to start a healthier lifestyle instead?

Lucky you! I go up :-(

This is why I cringe at wedding weight loss threads. It's just ONE day. A party day. Get your dress tailored to fit the body in which you currently reside, enjoy your damn party and then get cracking on a lasting lifestyle overhaul if you're not satisfied with what you've got currently going on. Enough of the drama and…

Record & move on. If it's something I want to remind myself not to eat or drink again I might split it up across the next few days to remind myself on each day's log. My week ends on Saturday, so as long as it's accounted for in the week I ate or drank it I don't care.

Your weight will fluctuate whether you are gaining, losing or maintaining! As long as you are a living, breathing, drinking, eating, moving & eliminating creature you are a range of weights that reflect your last meal, your recent sleep, your current hormones, the amount of sodium & fiber you've been getting, etc. I like…

Hahaha @robininfl Good question! I don't know... All I know is I resent women with huge surgical implants and modifications (ahemmm... kardashian girls) being touted as any sort of body type' example. Their 'type' is silicone, collagen, saline & lawd knows what! Ugh

Most Apple shaped women started life as a rectangle or ruler shape and lowering their overall body fat will send them back that direction. It's an athletic looking build and clothes drape well on it. There are plenty of models & actresses with that build to use as examples. At midlife, many women drift toward an apple…

Wow this is a nutty thread! The logging is not accurate. The deficit seems small so mistakes could negate it. Calculators just provide approximations, not thermodynamic realities. If something is working slowly? What's your question? If something stops working? Look for modifications of those assumptions & approximations…

Stop indulging in all-or-nothing, catastrophizing thinking. Log the food and move on. Also eating too few calories and going for huge deficits is a recipe for binge eating. Plan a sensible deficit and have treats all along the way instead.

Anyway, all my big money these days gets directed at technical outdoor wear and a wicked running shoe habit. Walking over 100k steps a week means I kill a pair of running shoes every 10-12 weeks.

The person who creates the 10 piece weight-loss capsule with modifications to take a wash and wear but professional looking assortment of basics through about 3 sizes could make a FORTUNE! you know, things like the inner button adjuster in kids pants, and tees and jackets with inconspicuous venting that could be let in or…

Thrift stores are your friend, plus consignment shops and sites like Craigslist or Freecycle. For professional wear there are internet rental sites like Gywnnie Bee. My daughter was a big fan of Rent the Runway for special events like prom. If you have a black tie wedding or fundraiser to attend you can rent a beautiful…

Nobody, and I mean nobody, loses 3 lbs a week like clockwork over 4-5 months.
