Thank you cwolfman and meghrose for your encouraging comments. I agree with what you say and I am very grateful for your advice which I will follow. For some reason I lost my incentive for exercise for a while there, but it is now gradually coming back because of you guys, thank you!

if its keeping you accountable and not pi**ing you off as it does with me sometimes, then I guess daily is ok. I weigh once a week.

After divorce I lost a lot of weight 25kg (55 pound) to be exact and I felt great when it came to shopping for new clothes, looking in the mirror, going out, attracting the men and then meeting a new guy so in that way yes, it raised my self esteem and gave me hope in seeing I could have a bright future ahead. But these…

I used to struggle with this too, binge eating disorder. I deal with this now with "mindful eating" and meditation and if I am truly hungry, I will have a yogurt just to settle any hunger pangs and help me to sleep.

Great post, I like your story and how positive you sound, very encouraging :) I am so fed up with diets which is why I am here too. I also like the concept of MFP and logging every day. Hey that's great it has already worked for your two friends, living proof right there and gives me a feeling of hope. I now log my food,…

Why are nearly all your comments to others negative? I try not to knock what someone else is doing unless I have done it myself.

LOL

Grandma, these "diets" (especially the ones that make us feel very hungry and grumpy) do not work. Calorie counting, mindful eating and exercise does :) I would love to cheer you along if you would like to add me.
-
Well said and I agree!
-
These wonderful looking pics are making me feel hungry! lol - for dinner we are having chicken nibbles with salad and kumara (sweet potato), keeping it simple

Good for you cherrie! I wasn't a great housekeeper until I came across flylady. Now I can get it all done (15mins a day, a bit longer sometimes) without feeling overwhelmed: http://www.flylady.net/
seafood chowder sounds amazing! that is a great idea! i can do fish and shrimp to make it more palatable! Yes you can :) and if you wanted to make it more filling, you could boil up some pasta, fresh egg fettucine or whatever you fancy, put pasta in bowl, scoop chowder on top and voila there is dinner :)
-
The exact same question I ask myself - why cant I keep it up? I know why. For me it is cant be bothered, excusitis (long list of excuses) and no self discipline.
-
I make seafood chowder but I dont use cream, can use milk instead and thicken w cornflour. Onion and garlic (can use crushed garlic in a jar if not fresh) gives a good flavour to the chowder. Also fish patties are nice which is basically tinned fish mixed with spring onion, egg, anything else you'd like to add in for…

Your body needs sleep. Its our minds that dont want to sleep and start craving carbs or desserts late at night, unless you really are hungry, then I would suggest yogurt to hopefully help those cravings go away.

On 1200 calories, no I dont feel totally full. I feel half full and satisfied which is enough for me. I practice mindful eating. It really does work and I might feel a little peckish at times but I never feel hungry :)

It's very relevant, as I said in my previous post; if someone has a Doctorate in Radiography and is giving me nutritional advice... I'm instantly not going to listen to it.... Was my thread so my decision on whether it was relevant or not. [Edited by MFP Staff]

Thank you christine you are as kind as you look in your pic. I'll be okay.

How was I to know it was not an M,D. if you didn't mention it?
You weren't supposed to know as I didnt think it was relevant. Assumption is the mother of all F ups lol
-
Dude's a chiropractor, not an MD.
I didnt say he was an MD and used the word "certain" from which people made assumptions, sigh

Was this doctor here who I only saw once and didnt bother to see him again: http://tenpointwellness.com/about/

Thank you kimny for your helpful reply - what is CICO?
-
Sarcasm, thanks for that. It was actually 1 tsp every hour from a person who is not a medical doctor and if you had read my post properly you would see that I DID NOT take his advice. Any other questions?

for me it is eliminating or reducing sugar (w the occasional sweet treat so I dont go crazy), low carb and low GI. I previously thought OMG this looks hard I dont think I can do this! but now I have learnt it is totally doable. I hope you find your own way.
