  • You just answered your own question, for sure. Are you not counting calories anymore? If you think you're eating more, count for a week and see. If you are, eat less. But, yeah, if you weigh more, you might be gaining weight. But give it more than a few days. And only weigh first thing in the morning after using the…
  • I drink two cups of hot tea and a tall glass of water. After that, I go for high-volume, low-cal, like buffalo cauliflower or a brothy soup with shirataki noodles. Last night, I borrowed from the last few days because I was under my calorie goal. I was still in a deficit and my daily average came out to 1195 (my goal is…
  • I wrote an article on this once: Modern digital bathroom scales are factory set to be within 2 lbs. accuracy. Analog scales have internal components that can get moved off-kilter if the scale is tipped or banged or if it's not on a hard, level surface. They also get dust in between parts pretty quickly meaning nothing is…
  • Mavrick, do what I do: use your Biggest Loser watching time to draft your healthy eating plan for the week or prep ingredients. The contestants won't mind if you walk away from the TV for a few minutes. ;) But, seriously, if my TV is on, it's because I'm watching a rare movie with my bf OR because it's background noise for…
  • Full-time work at all hours of the day and night and full-time school with lots of homework, here. You just get through it. There is no magic, unfortunately. Simplify your life and home. Throw out anything you don't use or need. A place for everything and everything in its place. Before plopping down after work, do your 20…
  • P.S.: I was miserable at 1200 calories so I kicked it up to 1400 and I am AMAZED at how much better I feel. I still WANT food sometimes but I'm not HUNGRY. HUUUUUGE difference! And much easier to manage. I'm losing a bit slower at this rate but still losing!
  • Long, but here's what worked for me. Also, advice at the bottom: I joined MFP in 2011 after a friend very kindly told me I was gaining so much weight he was worried about me. I already knew I was huge but it took someone I cared about saying it out loud to kick my brain on fully. I lost 80 lbs. the following year. Was…
  • 35 lbs. down as of yesterday. That puts me at 200 on the dot! 190s, here I come!!! EDIT: 35th post, too. Serendipitous. ;)
  • Alatariel: You're right. I won't worry too much if the scale didn't move because I know it'll catch up next week. :) My daily average has never been over 1200 since starting.
  • kassandra, that is awesome. Keep up the great work!!!
  • AWESOME. I did it. I burned it all off this morning (an hour on the stationary bike and elliptical) and afternoon (2 hour hike with the boyfriend and the dog). I feel awesome. Thanks for all the great comments! We'll see how it plays out on the scale during my weekly weigh-in tomorrow! :)
  • Emma, thanks for commenting. I knew all that already! Yay us! I guess I should have titled this a science question and not a "how do I lose weight?" question. I never use the MFP burn. I average what my heart rate monitor spits out and the Brayden online calculator. Worked to help me lose 80 lbs. last time. I keep a…
  • jgnatca: Nah, 3 or 4 slices. I eat fine before my hike. I still have my normal 1200 calories. That's not my question. Then how is it? Can you source your comment? lyric: I sure will. ;p
  • Thanks so much, y'all! Micheller: Onederland is only a few short weeks away. Stoked!
  • Thanks, guys and gals. :) dangerouscurvs: No one wants to see me in them either! haha But I know being real about this is going to help me get to my goal without too many hiccups. And if it can help someone else, too, then why not?
  • marsinah: Thanks! I appreciate it. becknomad: It came in a set of 3 or 4 from Walmart and cost maybe $15. It just says "Exclusive of Decoration" on the tag. They are not really the best bras, but I needed something quick when 3 of mine broke in the same week. I would say get the Victoria's Secret Demi if you want a similar…
  • You have 91 lbs. to lose. Trust me when I tell you that you won't starve to death. You could go weeks, probably months, without eating. Not that I recommend it.

  • andrikos, I did not know that. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I just bought them because they're smaller and cuter. I had no idea there was much of a difference. THANKS! ;)
  • If you want to calculate potatoes more specifically, red potatoes are 0.71 calories per gram. :)
  • It's totally up to you. I like a lot of volume so I eat this all to myself as a meal. But it's completely customizable to your tastes. :)
  • Thanks for the links. I haven't used those. I just do a cup of hot green tea (with a packet of splenda) and a small bowl of greek yogurt with some salt, pepper and smoked paprika. Always kills the hunger and for very low calories.
  • I like only logging once a week because I still have so much to lose. And it gives me something to look forward to. I always hope for 1 or 2 lbs. but when it's more I get so stoked! ;p When I'm maintaining, I'll weigh daily.
  • Oh, wow, your pic of Kerr Smith reminded me he ever existed. Now I wanna watch Dawson's Creek. ;p Anyway, pretty solid list. I disagree about breakfast, though. I get up, have my coffee, hit the gym, come home and shower, do some chores, THEN eat a meal. But that works for me. You do you.
  • Bumping for the weekenders. :)
  • Every Friday morning. No questions asked. IMO daily is too often but whatever works for you! :)
  • And, yes, it's about a NET number. So exercise = higher calories to consume. :)
  • Cut your losses, start fresh and don't do it again. :) If it were me, I'd spend the next two days netting 100 calories less than my daily goal just to help negate some of that overage. After that, back to 100%. Don't worry too much. You will have off days. Just learn the lesson and be better moving forward. :)
  • I keep splenda in the pantry and do green tea throughout the day. Kicks any sweet craving, hydrates you and helps you feel full til your next meal. Hope it helps. :)
  • I use coconut oil a lot. But not "to lose weight." The only way to lose weight is to net the right amount of calories. But coconut oil's great for coffee, foods, baking, skin care, hair care, etc., so we keep it in the pantry. :)
  • I thought, up until recently, that I was 5'2". Turns out I'm 5'4" on the dot. I feel like my identity as a shortie has been taken from me and I don't like it one bit! lol  So, while I'm closer to average than short, add me. ;p SW: 235 CW: 217 GW: 114
