Went to the gym last Saturday. Did the usual stretching and lifting. Since I didn't have to go to work, I added some lunges and tire flips for fun. Then went home and took the dog for a 3 mile walk. No surprise - I was very sore on Sunday. It's Tuesday and the soreness is finally dissipating. HAHA! A good lesson for this…

Heard that. Back to the gym this morning after a couple of weeks off. One thing I have learned on this journey - I am always glad that I have gone to the gym after the workout is done. That has motivated me to drag my carcass out of bed several times.
-
Jacob's ladder - I've done that a few times. Eight minutes non-stop is my record and my *kitten* is whipped after that workout. Good on ya' for doing 30 minutes!

I think all are welcome here. I'm 65 and they haven't run me off. HAHA! :D

I've been out of the gym for a couple of weeks, but I've been walking with the dog regularly. Back at it this week.

The age limit is not strictly enforced here, Tony. I'm north of 50 (way north :D ) , but I don't act like it. I say, "Hang out here if you like it".

Saw this on the "Maggie's Farm" blog today. Came here to share it and Mark (@mtaratoot) had already posted it. Great minds think alike. HAHA! :D

Happy New Year to all you crazy people! Staying in tonight and entertaining an eight year old. I'm sure to get schooled at some board games. Perhaps an adult beverage or two. Have fun and be safe!
-
@Versicolour - Please don't be cranky for the whole year. A check in here cheers me up every time! :) Laughed out loud at that comment, @IslandGal3. I considered doing something similar - not letting anyone in my house who was bringing Christmas goodies with them. HAHA! ;)

My friends host a solstice party every year. This year it actually takes place on the day of the solstice. YAY! I'm ready for some longer days. It's hard to get some dog walks and hikes in on these short days.

I think you are on the right track by concentrating on building the good habits that contribute to maintaining your weight loss and overall health. I have been overweight most of my life - lost weight - regained it - yada yada yada. Using the tools here has shown me a way to lose weight and keep it off. Stay the course.…

Seasoned oven fries. Sirloin beef patties with slices of pepper jack cheese and red onion on a small hamburger bun. Satisfies my craving for a fast food burger and fries with less calories.

Cheers, young man! 🥃

Deadlifted again today. No back pain. YAY! 4x5x185. Back over 200 (bodyweight) next week.

Heard that. That extra insulation is the only thing I miss, though. A good tradeoff for me!

Please let me know your opinions.

There's a great book for older weightlifters. "The Barbell Prescription" by Jonathon Sullivan and Andy Baker. They are both Starting Strength coaches. Lots of good information geared to older lifters. https://www.amazon.com/Barbell-Prescription-Strength-Training-After/dp/0982522770 Sullivan also has a YouTube channel. I…

Hey there! Just checking in and trying to keep this thread active. What are you all up to these days? Back in the gym this morning - no pain - I'll take that any day!

Hey there! Just checking in here. Back in the gym today - no back pain - life is good!

Back in the gym this morning. Back pain seems to be gone. The usual warmup and stretching. Did box squats with a 60 lb. kettlebell. Bench presses. Finished with some weighted carries with two 28 kg kettlebells. I'll feel that in my forearms tomorrow.

Shrimp ceviche. The first time I have made that at home - it will not be the last!

I am still bouncing around. Started the year at 205 - have been as low as 191 - aiming to finish the year under 195. And next year I will get rid of the last 10 pounds permanently.

Here's a link to a thread with a table listing protein contents for lots of different foods. You should find some foods that you like in that list. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10244142/list-of-foods-with-highest-protein-calorie-percentage/p1 I make oatmeal and add cottage cheese and protein powder as…

Tweaked my back on the third set of deadlifts last week. Stopped immediately that day. I didn't let that keep me from working out, though. Deadlifted light today and should be back to the regular program next week.

For anyone looking for support, consider joining this group. Lots of good folks there who know the struggles and will help you and encourage you. I joined last year and I'm going to reenlist for next year.…

Heard that. Still learning to eat mindfully and listen to my body instead of cleaning the plate.

@AliNouveau - Glad you discovered the defective furnace before anyone was injured or worse. A good reminder to everyone to install a carbon monoxide detector in your house along with smoke detectors. They save lives everyday.

Nice! Are there also golfers on the course while you are fishing? (Love your screen name, BTW. I sometimes call myself a walking checkbook. :) )
