My wife, my daughter and I had a meeting with a social worker from a palliative care/hospice provider today. It went well and my wife finally seems to be accepting the realities of her situation. We discussed filling out some of the legal documents that are needed. She refused to even discuss the health care directives and…

Heard that. Congratulations! Love to see those ones on the left side of the scale reading. Aiming to be back there myself by 1 April.

Hi, Patricia. Welcome to the group. You've come to the right place for support and encouragement.

That is awesome progress, @swimmom_1. Congratulations!🎉🎈 I shared your skepticism about the social aspects of this site. I started here because a friend (another nurse) recommended it for the calorie tracking. Didn't get active on the forums for awhile. They are great, though, and the support has helped me stay the course.…

Greetings, all. Welcome to the new folks posting here. You've come to the right place for encouragement. Nothing new in my world. We are continuing this cancer battle. My wife is dealing with constant pain and so she's cranky sometimes. Been sleeping pretty well, but only 5-6 hours a night - not long enough. Evening gym…

That's not it, Jo. 😁

Thanks, @swimmom_1 . The counselor at the cancer clinic reminds me of that during every session. "Take care of yourself, too." And so I do. My hat is off to you and all health care providers. It's a tough job and you deal with difficult, heart-wrenching situations every day. Thank you for choosing to help others. 🤗

Red cars also get more traffic tickets. Do not make me explain how I know this. ☹

Greetings, all. Just checking in. Have gotten several workouts in the last week. Still trying to go in the evenings when the spouse is asleep. Continuing to deal with her cancer - a daily challenge. Nearly constant pain for her. Lordy, this is hard to watch. Hang in there and make good things happen this year!

That's a great point. Try different lengths to figure out what is comfortable for you. I start with them at elbow length for level ground. Then I shorten them when hiking uphill and lengthen them for downhill hiking.

Bumping this thread. Hoping that a few LBD's might be in the cards for the New Year's Eve festivities. 🎉🥳

When I feel that way, I tell myself that I will feel a sense of accomplishment when the workout is done. That reminder has gotten my lard *kitten* off the couch many times. And it never fails. I am always pleased with myself when I have completed a workout

They're like ski poles. You use them to stabilize yourself or take some weight off your knees. Some people also use them to walk faster on level ground. Hikers and climbers use them doing uphill or downhill
-
I learned a new word today - nibbley. That cracked me up, Shar. 😄 I will use that word in the future! A second on the walking poles. I use them when hiking in the desert hills and they are great for lessening the strain on your knees. Please let us know how they work for you.

Greetings, all. Haven't checked in here for a few days. Good to see that you all are keeping focused on your healthy lifestyle goals. I am a member of another group here on MFP. It's called "Lose 1 Pound a Week and Keep It Off". A great support group with a weekly weigh in. There are other optional challenges that you can…

Welcome, @bobbieg101. You've come to the right place. Lots of support and encouragement here. Just start slow and increase your activity level as you can. Start logging your food and you will get a handle on the appropriate calorie level for your situation. Things are up and down at my house. My wife has constant joint…

He also skipped the 40's. Still love the badass attitude!

Ran across this on Tumblr this morning. Love that attitude!

I have been a member of this group for two years now. There's a weekly weigh in to monitor your progress. Lots of positive encouragement and support from other group members. There's a daily chat thread where you can pop in whenever you like to share your successes, vent about your problems, or ask a question and get some…

Read the comments about Nugo bars. I'll have to locate some and try them. I have experimented making my own protein bars. Started a thread here asking for other's input and suggestions. One of the respondents pointed me at Kirkland's (Costco) brand protein bars. She said they were as good as Quest bars - and at less than a…

@SbetaK - Sorry to hear about your mishap. I'm glad that your injuries weren't more serious. You kids need to be more careful. 😁 Hope you're back to full activity level soon. It's Christmas season, for certain. Temptation is everywhere. Someone posted this reminder recently somewhere here on MFP. "It's okay to be hungry."…

Well done, @anawake13. 👏👏👏 I always enjoy a break from the routine. And then back to the regularly scheduled program. 😁

I'm not old. I'm not. I'm not. HAHA! 😁 As @swimmom_1 noted, we're seasoned. Very well seasoned. Gotta' embrace it and make the best of it. You're in good company here, @sirk401. Welcome to all the new folks here. You've come to the right place for support and encouragement. Condolences to those of you remembering those who…

I miss the group workouts and talking about fitness and techniques with other gym rats. Need to get back to that. @tnh2o - Regarding hiking - gotta' agree. Be prepared. I have a couple of light packs with hydration bladders. I try to keep them stocked with supplies that might be needed, balanced against carrying stuff that…

Bumping this to keep the thread active. What are y'all up to? 😁

Congrats on the whoosh, @swimmom_1. Those always brighten the day. Checking in and hanging in there. Things are up and down at my house. One day at a time. Remember to breathe. 😁

Happy Thanksgiving, seasoned citizens! I am thankful for many things, and all of the great people I have met here are at the top of the list! Appreciate you all!
-
Well done, @Melwillbehealthy. You have determined what works for you and you are following your plan. That's the ticket to long term weight loss and maintenance.

Welcome to the group, @catsch1958. Are you logging all your food? Using a scale to ensure accuracy? I've tried different eating schedules and food plans, but none of that is really important for me. I can lose weight when I'm burning more calories than I'm eating.
