Checking in. Yesterday was another good day food wise. Got a little whoosh going right now. That is helping me stay on track in the evening and limit the late night snacking. Have a great day, all you beautiful people!

Checking in. @j29t - Thank you for the kind words. I need all the positivity I can find. Meeting with the oncologist tomorrow. Decisions about restarting chemotherapy. I have no clue what wifey will decide. She has discussed stopping it completely. I'm trying to give her the space she needs to make a tough decision. I…

Love your birthday idea, @AnnPT77. I have some catching up to do! Haha! 😁 @swimmom_1 - Congrats on the whoosh. That always brightens the day a bit. Just back from a 4 mile walk with Daisy. Overcast w/ temps in the 60's in SW Idaho. I'm going to enjoy this unseasonably warm weather while it lasts.

Checking in. Did a 6 mile hike on a local golf course with the dog yesterday. Felt good to get out. Usually can do this route nonstop, but I paused to rest several times yesterday. Lower back is a little sore today. Need more hiking to restore my conditioning. Got a little whoosh on the scale this morning, too. Looking…

@qclady2 - One other thing you might try is a diet break. Long term calorie restriction can cause hormone imbalances and lead to weight loss plateaus. There is some research that suggests that a diet break can help to reset your hormone levels and break through those plateaus. There is a detailed explanation in the thread…

That is great news, @Melwillbehealthy. All the more incentive to make the lifestyle changes that you want to undertake.

Checking in. Welcome to the new folks!🙋♂️ Weight is up a bit after the river trip. No surprise there. Also up because I have been stress (over)eating and not getting any regular exercise. I have got to get a handle on that. Back to the program in earnest today!
-
Thanks for the kind words, @swimmom_1. You're right - the break was just what I needed. I did NOT want to go back to work today. HAHA!

Welcome to all the new folks. This is a great group for support and encouragement. Just back from five days camping on the Salmon River in Idaho. Old friends, whiskey and campfires. 🔥🥃😎And some fishing for good measure. Good times. Add me as a friend if you like.
-
Off to the river until Tuesday. See you next week. Have a great day and weekend, everyone! 😁
-
Thank you for your kindness, @IslandGal3.

@Gardensoul57 - Welcome to the group! @swimmom_1 - Congratulations! That is awesome progress. You should make your 1/31 goal, even if your rate of loss slows down some.
-
Thanks for asking, @IslandGal3 . She's hanging in there. Along with the family. On a chemo holiday right now. Her mood is better but the pain is constant. She has discussed stopping the chemo and just letting nature take its course. Some hard decisions ahead. The classic "no good choices" situation.

Checking in. Missed a few days on the forums, but I'm still logging food and tracking weight. Holding the line weight-wise. So that's all good. Still riding the roller coaster at my house. Had a couple of laughs with Kathy yesterday. 😆That was nice. Not enough of those moments lately. Trying to keep it positive. River time…

Awesome transformation, sir!

Enjoy that cruise, @anawake13. I'm in that same situation - just maintaining for now. That's all I can do until this cancer thing is sorted out, but I'm good with that. Hang in there!
-
Amen, sister! I've gotten some good ideas and insight from others here over the years. The best lesson, though, is that you have to figure out what works for you. Doesn't matter what anyone else does. Congratulations on your progress towards your goal. You're an inspiration!

Like you, Ann, I like to eat and I like to cook. I'm not doing this limited foods regimen every day because I want to. Just works better with the time I have available right now.
-
That might be an advantage. Several people have posted here over the years that they eat almost the same thing every day. They eliminated taking time to figure out what to eat for each meal. They know they will be in their desired calorie range. Boring from a flavor standpoint, but effective. They changed from taking…

So I am learning, Margaret. I appreciate your insights as someone who has a lot of experience. Thank you.
-
Love that thought! Brought a needed smile to my face. Thank you for the observation.

Thanks, @Yoolypr. Great advice. The counselor at the cancer clinic reminds me every time I see her, too. She says "You have to take care of yourself to be able to take care of someone else".

Checking in. Joint pain is unabated for my wife. Chronic pain must be mentally debilitating as well as physically uncomfortable. I get down about life sometimes, and then I remember that it's worse for her. Much worse. Hanging in, though. Trying to keep it positive. 😁 Thanks for letting me vent in here. It helps.

Mel - I'm sure that losing some weight will help you. I donate platelets every couple of weeks and get my blood pressure taken then. Haven't had an extremely high reading in over three years. Usually in the 130 over 80 range and drops even more when I'm leaner. Great point about another downside of the pandemic. The…

To add friends on MFP on the desktop app: 1) Click on the username in the left sidebar. A window showing the username will open. 2) Click on the username again. The user's profile will open. 3) Click on the "Add Friend" button on the user's profile page. Formerly, there was an option to send a message along with the…

Welcome, Mel. I had to take blood pressure meds for a while. But my doctor (bless him) told me, "If you lose some weight, you won't need the meds." That led me here. I did it and was off the meds in six months.

Rockin' the red, Lucia!

Great point, @ridiculous59. Getting outside everyday for some fresh air and (hopefully) sunshine is great for your mental health, as well as your physical condition. I missed walking during the week due to la vida loca. Went out and walked the dog today and have been in a good mood ever since.
-
Just checking in. Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and positive thoughts. The oncologist has put Kathy on a holiday for four weeks. No chemo during that time. That may help. She also requested a referral for in-home physical therapy, so that's a good sign. We will see if she elects to restart the chemo after the…

A couple of strategies that might help you. 1) You don't need to exercise to lose weight. You will need to log your food and get the intake in sync with your daily calorie needs. Exercise is beneficial for you in lots of ways, but people can and do lose weight without it. 2) Regarding eating late at night - I do that, too.…
