Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. The oncologist had a frank discussion with her yesterday and laid out her options. The crux of the matter, though, is that she has to put in some effort to get stronger. She did some minimal physical therapy back in May but did very little after she got home and is doing nothing now.…

Checking in on the cancer front. Things are not going well here. My wife is resisting going for her treatment today. When I told her, "You need the treatment to get better", she said, "Let's get real. I'm not going to get better." 😢☹ I'm worried that she is just going to give up. I think she is just tired of the constant…

And then the Mariners went all Mariners on us. So close. Just teasing us. There's always next year. Before 2004, I would tell my sons, "There's enough heartache in the world without being a a Red Sox fan." Now they have turned that around on me. HAHA! 😆

Same here. Watching the MLB wild card race along with the football games. While "trying" to do some household chores. 😆

@anawake13😍 and @annliz23 😍 - Thanks for the encouragement. Feeling better today. Even managed a smile or two! 😁

Awesome transformation!

Welcome to all the new folks. This is a great group for encouragement and inspiration. It has helped me through some dark days. Dealing with some depression here. Need to do more walking and working out. That is the best thing I have found to elevate my mood and keep me from sinking into the abyss. Seeing what you are…

Checking in. We've had a few pretty good days at my house recently. Kathy has a new chemo regimen (😁) and more morphine (☹). She's more alert and lively than she has been. Still a little foggy mentally but it's good to see some improvement in mood and demeanor. Still losing the pounds slowly. I'll take it. Walking the dog…

Thanks for sharing that video, @sijomial. Anything that encourages people to remain active is a good thing! 👍

Well done, sir! Your hard work is paying off! 👏👏👏

I tend to want to eat a lot in the evening. I did IF for about 6 months - 16-8 - 2 pm to 10 pm. It is hard for me to overeat in that window. Now I usually have something small in the morning - like a protein bar - but I learned to consume most of my food late in the day and that helps me keep the calories at the desired…

Very cool, @AnnPT77. Love your adventurous nature! We have gone hiking at night under the full moon. And wading rivers for fishing. Being out in the dark adds a level of excitement to the experience.

Tracking food and counting calories is tedious at first, but once you have a database of foods you eat regularly it gets much easier. Lots of people on this site have commented over the years that they need to track their food or they tend to regain the weight they lost. It's too hard to lose the weight only to regain it,…

Awesome progress, @swimmom_1. 👏👏👏 Keep checking in here. This group is great for support and encouragement.

I've done IF, too. As others have noted, it only works with a calorie deficit. But it did help me because I tend to eat more late in the day, so it was more difficult to overeat in that 8 hour window. You may find that it works for you, too, for that reason.

Hi, y'all. Been MIA for a few days. Still riding the roller coaster at my house. Some good days - then some bad days. They changed Kathy's chemo regimen and she seems to tolerate these drugs better - most days. Constant joint/back pain has never gone away. They have decided that she can't take muscle relaxers - they said…

Good morning, everyone. We have had three good days in a row with Kathy. Her appetite and mood are better. Hoping for a good stretch for her now. I'm hanging in there. Fighting some depression when I wake up. My mood usually gets better once I'm up and moving, so I'm going to try to get up immediately upon waking. Not lay…

Sending positive vibes for good news for you, @anawake13.

Thanks, everyone. Woke up in a funk this morning but I'm trying to shake that off. Then I checked in here and found all these replies. You guys are a great online support group. I appreciate all of you that take a moment to write a note. Got a smile on now! 😁

Things are looking up at Casa Steve. They changed my wife's pain meds and her pain is better controlled, but still not gone. She's in better spirits, though. She helped cook dinner a couple of days ago. Everyone has been sleeping through the night. That is a welcome relief. Easier to deal with all this when I am well…

Yeah - the request feature works - the notes do not.
-
You're probably right - I know they do not work on the desktop app. I sent this last request using the phone app. Apparently they don't work there, either. ☹☹☹
-
@MargaretYakoda - I'm curious. I sent you a friend request - I know you got it. Did the message come through with it?
-
Margaret - is this method done on the phone app? I did not see the "Invite Friends" option on the desktop. It would be great to able to send a message along with the request. Edited - DOH! Now I see the phone keyboard in the last screenshot. Will try this method on the phone.

Welcome to all the new folks in this group! @anawake13 - Love your ELMM diet acronym. Very simple but it works! @NC_Girl - Wear what makes you feel good. No one else's opinion is important in this regard. Got away to Seattle last weekend. Slept for ten uninterrupted hours Friday night. Went to the Museum of Flight on…

Margaret, I'm glad that you found something that helps your husband and you deal with his issues. That calming effect is noted by lots of users. I find I'm still able to do normal things around the house - chores, prepare meals, etc. I find that it makes me more active - can't sit still - need things to do. A win-win for…

Thanks for the suggestions, Ann. She is taking an antidepressant (and has taken various types for years). But that was combined with excessive drinking at times - not a good situation - led to some erratic behavior. No drinking now, though, so that's one less contributor to depression. She was also a daily marijuana user,…
