  • Thanks, @bethe. I may do that in the future. Going to try to deal with this condition with whole foods first. All is well for me and my family here in Idaho. I am the only one venturing out of the house most days. I have not been doing any lifting workouts, but I have been walking nearly every day with the dog. Food intake…
  • Thanks, Kriss. I should have checked the Red Cross site myself. DOH!
  • Love that look, Kym! You may start a new fashion trend. Good on 'ya for finding a way and the motivation to work out. The local golf courses are closed, so I took the dog there for a couple of long walks this weekend. Hills and varied terrain and there is no traffic, so I can let her roam off the lead. I walked her there…
  • Had a good weekend here. Two 7 mile hikes with the pup - she's sleeping beside me now - she's "dog tired", :) Those deserted golf courses are a great place to walk that dog right now. We shall see if we can still walk the perimeter when the golfers return. The workouts are helping me deal with the stress and anxiety of…
  • Greetings, everyone. Made it through another work week. A couple of long walks with the dog on this weekend's agenda. And the usual chores around the house. What do you have planned for this weekend?
  • Like the "Old Man's Club" shirt. From Ranger Up?
  • I'm struggling with motivation to workout at home. Just walking into the gym always energizes me for a workout. The recliner - not so much. Obviously, I'm going to have to change that mindset. I will be a puny human when this is over if I don't start working out at home. Thanks for the inspiration, y'all!
  • Great idea, @7sorok. I will remember that the next time I'm stuck in a queue somewhere!
  • I saw several marmots (groundhogs) on my Sunday walk with the dog. They are out and about with the warmer weather. They do look similar, but beavers are usually close to a water source. Marmots will den in rocky areas far from water. @n2gardens56 - Do not feel guilty about working from home. I am doing what I can from…
  • Reenie, we've been hanging out at the fire pit in the backyard almost every night. Come on over for toasted marshmallows - in a S'more or by itself. Your choice!
  • Excellent, Lynn! Your efforts are paying off!
  • Thanks, Barbie. I did not leave the house with the intention of walking that far. When I saw the opportunity to walk the entire course without disturbing anyone else, I could not pass it up. I admire your consistency. I don't go every day, but the pup never lets me skip more than a couple of days. Re: your podcast comment…
  • Just checking in here. Hope y'all are doing well. Life goes on. Stay strong and keep working out at home. I keep remembering the phrase, "This, too, shall pass."
  • I understand that feeling - "Nothing works for me". I sometimes felt the same way. I'm on my third year here. Lost about 45 pounds in the first nine months. Am currently down about 55 pounds from where I started. That is by far the longest time I have maintained any significant weight loss. Keep coming back here and…
  • That's a great challenge, Rob. I have done some local hikes that I did not complete the first time, either. Third time was the charm. Keep going back until you reach the top! Walked 6+ miles today around the perimeter of a local golf course that was closed. The dog and I had the whole place to ourselves. It was grand!
  • Went out for a desert hike today with my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and the pup. Walked about 3 miles through the rocks and the sagebrush. The dog got a swim in the Snake River. Lots of folks out hiking - many with dogs, but everyone kept their distance and was on their best behavior. Like many of you, I am…
  • Hi, y'all. So Idaho got the stay-at-home order yesterday. We will see how compliance goes. There are a lot of very independent people here. I'm going to try to continue to walk in deserted areas. I will go stir crazy otherwise.
  • Thanks for asking, Lynn. The walk went fine, but the paths that were deserted all winter are full of people now. I spent a lot more time wrangling the dog than normal. I have some other options where there is more room to allow the dog to run more freely. Had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, so we missed a walk then.…
  • I feel your pain. I really like the gym environment to encourage me to push myself. My gym was still open last Saturday. Have a session scheduled for tomorrow morning - will call later today and make certain they will be open.
  • This is a very common occurrence. Thirteen pounds in a month is great - actually a little faster than normally recommended. Most people find they are unable to continue to lose at those high rates. Also - are you weighing all your food to ensure an accurate calorie count? Sometimes we are eating more than we think. See…
  • Congratulations, @Terytha! Here's to persistence (or stubbornness). HAHA! :D
  • Greetings, all. Working from home this morning and will venture out this afternoon. Have a safe day, everyone! Add me as a friend if you like. I check in here most days and I'm always ready to share support and encouragement. To add friends on MFP using the desktop app; 1) Click on the username in the left sidebar. A…
  • Ann - good job on the bread. I have had similar experiences. But everyone eats the bread, even if it looks substandard.
  • One more vote for figuring out what you can do, given your situation. Asking some questions in the forum should provide you with some guidance for an exercise program. Another alternative would be to meet with a personal trainer who could customize an exercise program for you. My trainer has several clients who deal with…
  • Google Maps shows the distance for drives and walks. You could use it to map the route ahead of the workout. MapMyWalk allows you to save your routes, so you could use that after the first time you walk a new route. They also allow you to see the routes saved by other users. You might see if there are any routes in your…
  • Welcome! You will find a great community here. I tell people that the best feature of MFP is the mutual support and encouragement.
  • Good on ya', Rob. I do a semi-local hike that features an 800 ft. climb in about 1.5 miles. Excellent exercise for building aerobic capacity and strengthening your legs. The drive is about 30 minutes, so I don't go as often as I should for conditioning.
  • This group has gone sort of inactive. Like @Evamutt, I am also posting in the 60 yrs and up thread. Come on over and join the fun! https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10718336/60-yrs-and-up/p1
  • Got up early - went to the local grocery, only to find that they have changed their hours again. Okay. Onward to the Red Cross - my hemoglobin was low - no donation today for me. Back to the grocery store - got some rice. Alrighty then - the day is improving! A hike with the 🐕 later. Life is good! Wishing a good day for…
