Drive by check in. Good to see you some old familiar friends still posting here.👍 No changes in my spouse's condition. The myeloma remains dormant. That's the good news. She continues to get more immobile. The injections in her knees lessened her pain for a few weeks, but the effect abated more quickly than normal. They're…

Great achievement, @Pdc654. Best wishes for you as you move to maintenance.

Had a family birthday dinner yesterday. Cooked a prime rib in the oven for the first time. It was delicious. We ate outside on the patio for the first time this year. That was enjoyable, even though it was a little windy. The yard is greening up. That "should" inspire me to do some yard work. We shall see. We got my wife…

Drive by check-in. Glad to see some active folks here. I'm upright and breathing and hanging in there. My weight has been stable. 200-205 over the winter. That's a miracle considering the lack of exercise. Getting out with Daisy a lot more now. Take care and hang in there. I'll try to post here more often.

Awesome achievement, @Pdc654. 👏👏👏

Hey, y'all. Just checking in. No significant changes in my spouse's condition. Less pain meds, so that's a good sign. Still sleeping a lot and very sedentary. All we can do is keep her comfortable. Saw Onederland for a few days last week. Maintaining around 200-205, though, so I'll take that. Have been stress eating a bit,…

Welcome, @listvanek61. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You're in the right place for some support and sensible advice.

Greetings. Haven't checked in here in about three weeks. Typing this on my phone, and I can't insert pictures. AARRGGHH! Oh well. I went snowshoeing a couple of weeks ago. Very enjoyable and a good workout. Will certainly do that again. The trip was capped with an one hour soak in a hot springs. A bald eagle flew by the…

Weekend check in. Holding the line weight wise, but haven't broken through to Onederland. Yet. 😁 No change in Kathy's condition. Some good days and some bad days. Pain seems to be less, but her mobility continues to diminish. That's a problem. We live in an older house, and it is not suited for a wheelchair. I'm hoping we…

I went to Lava Hot Springs in eastern Idaho. It was enjoyable, but commercialized. I go to Kirkham near Lowman or some of the hot springs on the South Fork of the Salmon for a more primitive experience. I

Hey hey hey! Just checking in. Got out of town for a couple of days. Some R&R in the hot springs and catching up on sleep. Ready for whatever comes next. 😁

Congratulations, Megan. I like your commitment - "I don't want to gain it back". Heard that. Lots of stories here from people who have lost substantial weight and then regained it. I lost 45 pounds five years ago and have managed to keep it off. Still logging my food and weighing myself every day. The support and mutual…

Just stopping by for a drive-by check-in. Dry January continues to go well. 13 days in and have not been tempted to get off the wagon yet. Holding the line weight-wise. The days are getting longer and I should be able to get some walking done in the evenings Planning a little caregiver R&R for the weekend. Looking forward…

Just stopping by for a drive-by check-in. I am somehow managing to keep in good spirits, upbeat at times, even considering the depressing situation at home. Dry January continues to go well. 13 days in and have not been tempted to get off the wagon yet. Holding the line weight-wise. The days are getting longer and I should…

Another recommendation for hiking poles here. I'm a seasoned citizen and I use them regularly. Takes some stress off your hips and knees. They also help with balance and stability in steep or rugged terrain. I sometimes forget them and I regret it every time. I walk and hike with my dog whenever I can. She is trained off…

Thanks to all of you who shared your photos. Seeing them inspires me to get out more. Let's keep this thread going!

I appreciate the kind words, @BCLadybug888 and @Pdc654. The best feature of MFP is the community and encouragement and both of you are shining examples of that mutual support. That support keeps my spirits up on the dark days. Thank you.

Hey, y'all. Starting the New Year off right. Headed to Onederland. Now to cross that border and never go back.
-
Just checking in. Same old same old here. No change in my spouse's condition. She has good days and bad days. I love it (not) when the person with memory issues decides to argue about whether she has taken her meds. I keep flirting with Onederland. Time to cross over that border and stay there forever. Did get three days…

Yes Yes, this group is active. Stop by regularly and join in the discussion. Bookmark the thread to make it easy to find on return visits. It's mostly seasoned citizens here, but no one is checking your ID. All are welcome as long as you mind your manners. 😁

@ridiculous59 - Thank you. 😍 Your guidance was just what I needed. We'll be on a groomed trail, so my hiking boots should work fine. I'll try to remember to post some photos after this adventure. 😁

@ridiculous59 - Love the photo of your dogs in the snow. I have my first ever snowshoe hike scheduled at the end of the month. What do you use for footwear? Rubber boots? Waterproof hiking boots? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Great idea, @IslandGal3.This thread was very active and entertaining in the past. I'll try to contribute something, too. Happy New Year, one and all!

Greetings, all. I haven't posted here for awhile. Welcome to all the new people. I believe that the mutual support and community is the best feature of MFP. No significant changes in my caregiver situation. My wife's condition continues to deteriorate slowly. She is in constant pain. It's hard to watch, but I try to…

Thanks for the encouragement, @Yoolypr. I'm blessed that my children also help out as needed. I'm lucky that I don't have to bear this burden all alone.

Greetings, all. Just checking in. No significant changes here. Caregiving continues to be a challenge. Starting to feel like a grind, every day. I don't know how people do this for years on end. The breaks and an outside social life help, but the realities of the situation are never far from my thoughts. Have been diligent…
