  • The page doesn't exist and there is some stuff on your list that doesn't make sense from the most recent recommendations. Yes bacon and any meat is low, but too much protein or salt contributes to stones. Wheat isn't super low, neither is rice.
  • I don't think you understood my post. Calcium levels in blood aren't any indication at all of what you are eating or absorbing if your parathyroids aren't working correctly.
  • This wouldn't be accurate for some people, like those with parathyroid issues that cause blood calcium problems. I track my calcium, and if the entry doesn't have the correct information I look for a new one or make my own. In spite of what another poster said- it is on nutrition labels.
  • No. Spinach, chard, almonds, and black beans are all very high in oxalates. Also the research shows that a high calcium diet produces fewer stones. I'm on prescription potassium citrate. It does not dissolve calcium stones. It does help change the urine PH to prevent new stones. And bile salts? That's not science. Plus…
  • I freeze in measured portions. It's just me at home. Then I can pull a serving out, heat it- cook a serving of rice or pasta and add veggies if it needs it, log and eat. I don't see myself stopping because I have nutrients I'm watching for medical reasons.
  • Sounds like me, but I am 3" taller. But while I wasn't in any organized sports, I was very active. My high school was a big old school and it wasn't unusual to have one class at one end and then have to get to the other end. I loved to hike, ride my bike, rollerblade, dance and so on. I started to gain weight when a…
  • What benefits? If I want to cut weight, I count calories.
  • Sadly, she sounds toxic. I've had to make it clear to my parents that if they make mean comments to me, they don't see me. She probably will pick on something else if it's not weight. You need to want to lose weight for you, not her. Also, talk to your husband and set up a game plan for boundaries when she tries this…
  • It depends on how overweight they were to begin with, and how active they are. But usually they are sneaking in some food in spite of their claims. Most people would be too weak to function after a few days of water only- have you ever met someone doing it for religious reasons?
  • How tall are you? First thing I'd do is look up what the range is for a healthy BMI for your height and sex. Set the top end of that as your first goal. Then once you hit there, re-evaluate and see how much more you want to lose. I know I wouldn't want to be back to 100lbs. It may have been my HS weight, but I was…
  • I don't worry too much about fat or white flour. I watch saturated fats and cholesterol because I have some family issues, but overall I don't worry because I found it's not a huge part of my diet after tracking. I made bierrocks this weekend with some ground meat that needed to be used up, and white flour in the dough. So…
  • I freeze extra servings and eat them later. I just put a few servings of chili in my freezer this weekend.
  • If this sort of thing is happening, it's probably time to talk to a professional.
  • Figure this one out. Most of my family drinks a full sugar soda or two, then water. Most of us are healthy weight.
  • Though on the other extreme a person in a FB group was throwing a fit and decided to go off a medication because "it made her gain weight." How did it make her gain weight? It's a med that you need to take with food to not damage your stomach and instead of setting her times to take it at meal times, or just eating a…
  • I just wondered because you mentioned needing a physical to compete and that's usually a high school thing.
  • I'm curious if you are over 18.
  • You are actually exaggerating facts, the increased risk is very small.
  • You may want to talk to a therapist before you end up with severe orthorexia.
  • Why? And asbestos depends on the form. Most types aren't that dangerous because they can't get in the air and into your lungs. I'm not worried about the tiles hidden under the laminate in my house.
  • That list doesn't even rank them by risk level, or amount of exposure needed. And it points out that some things put you at higher risk of one cancer, and lower of another. And the "processed meats" that they refer to are things treated with nitrates/nitrites. I hope you don't live in California. Pretty much everything is…
  • Cheese isn't a bad source of protein, though not the greatest, and some fat isn't bad. But if you read labels you can find all sorts of fat/protein contents in different cheeses. It's a great source of calcium too. I get a lot of my protein from dairy, like cheese.
  • My family is odd. In the genetic linked health issues, it's equal opportunity. My entire immediate family gets migraines, my brother and I get hemiplegic migraines. The diabetes and kidney stones are evenly spread too. Though the diabetes hasn't hit anyone in my generation yet. And only has been prediabetes in the…
  • Exactly. I once tried to explain the genetics link to someone and she insisted the only family link was because they learned bad lifestyle choices. She refused to believe that one of the relatives played tennis before breakfast every day, another was an avid sailboat enthusiast, and another worked extra miles of walking…
  • One of my grandmothers drank diet a&w root beer nonstop. The other one didn't. Neither were obese (except the diet root beer one near the end of her life- in her 90's) both were slightly overweight at times though. The A&W drinking grandmother never had any blood sugar issues. The other one developed type 2 in her 50's.…
  • My grandmother got a throat abscess from that woo.
  • That's like the people who claim coconut oil helps you lose weight.
  • Boiled eggs. I boil several every Sunday or Monday and keep them in the fridge. I also keep tuna in water around- or those flavored packets of tuna.
  • The only thing that I might have a problem with is that if the under day is too much under, I'm going to want to eat a lot again the next day. But that depends on you. For weight loss the average matters. For self control it may vary.
  • I used to do that with mushrooms as a teen. I miss unlimited sodium.
