I'm ready for my 5k on Saturday. Whoop! I've been keeping up with my goal to run 3-4 times a week.

@katharmonic, @PastorVincent , @Avidkeo thanks for the input. I think we're going to go with the vivosmart. @Avidkeo , I also have the viviactive 3, and I really like it. It's my first smart/fitness watch. I think it does a great job for the price. I would get her that one, but I know she doesn't like how big the watch…

Hey all! I'm hopping on here for the December challenge. My goal is to run 3-4 times a week this month. As a side note, I'm looking to get my nearly 70 year old mother a fitness tracker for Christmas, preferably Garmin. I need it to be simple, water proof (she does a lot of water aerobics), and possibly less than $100. Any…

I went running yesterday, as I said I would. I believe I'm at 15 miles for the month. Going to try to finish out the month by running 3-4 times next week.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I was going to go for a run today, but we're traveling this morning. So... I'm going to go tomorrow! That'll get me my third run this week. Trying to check in more at the end of this month.

Hey! We're almost 2/3 of the way through the month, and I'm just chiming in. I'm still running. I'm not sure how much I've run this month, but for the rest of the month my goal is going to be to run 3-4 times each week. I'm feeling very winded when I run, and I'm not running far...usually only a couple of miles each time.…

I'm up to 6.8 miles for the month. It doesn't seem like much, but I did 2.74 today. That's the longest I've ran in awhile. I really hope my knees don't hate me tomorrow. It was so nice out this morning! And I think that contributed to me being able to run longer this morning.

Hey all! I'm still running. I started this journey in February. I think this is the longest I've ever committed to running since high school. I don't think I'm ever going to become a marathon runner (I know people in this group will say never say never), but I'm sticking with it. Just wanted to jump on the October board…

Hey everyone! I can't remember if I posted in August at all, but I'm posting for September. Still running! I'm usually running 2 miles 2-3 times per week. Just wanted to check in and say hey!

Just checking in. I've been trucking along through the month of July. I've mostly been keeping my runs to two miles. And I just got back from a beautiful trip in the North Carolina mountains. The hiking was intense as some running. It turns out hiking up a mountain gets your HR up. I have a couple of races coming up in…

Hey Everyone! Just posting now, on July 6th. I'm still struggling with knee pain, but I'm pushing through. Been doing a lot of cross training and short runs. Plus, it's so hot out here. I'm going for 20-30 miles this month. No matter what, I'm proud of myself, because I'm still doing this workout thing. Started my running…

Is there a challenge like this for the summer?
-
Happy June everyone!!! My goal for this month is just 15-20 miles. Mostly, I want to continue allowing my leg to heal, so I'm doing a lot of cross training and strength training. Also, as they say in Parks and Rec, "It's as hot as the devil's butt crack" in South Carolina, so unless I run before the sun is up, it's HOT.…

Wow! I have been completely absent from this group the last week or so. I'm never going to catch up. 400+ posts behind. I went to PT on 5/18, and I have to say my right leg is doing much better, so hopefully I'll make my goal in June. Not sure I'm going to get there this month. May 16, 2018 1:09PM 5/1- rest 5/2- 2.1 mile…

I just looked up the Five Fifty Fifty Run. That is so cool! There's not a race near me, but I'm considering doing the virtual race. I think someone else had mentioned the series in a previous challenge month. It might've been you. Very neat!

Ok so here's my update for May so far. I'm still struggling with pain in my right leg. This is kind of a summary of what I've been doing, not just running (because right now I'm trying to take it easy. It's so hard!): 5/1- rest 5/2- 2.1 mile walk with my dad 5/3- 3.2 mile run, race the landing 5k 5/4- strength training…

@lporter229 congrats on your marathon run! Sounds like it was a wonderful race. And congrats to everyone else who ran this weekend. I enjoyed reading all the race reports. :)

@Elise4270 I don't have a specific cross training plan, but I do yoga, strength training at least once a week, and I've taken up swimming on Saturdays. I love swimming. I used to be on the swim team in high school. It's a great work out that's easy on the joints and helps build up your breathing stamina, if that makes…

@7lenny7 yes, I definitely think the tendonitis could've affected my stride. At this point, I just need to humble myself and back off on the running until I start to feel better. In the mean time, I will cross train. I love to swim laps, and that's a lot easier on the joints. I'll keep strength training as well. I have a…

My 5k went alright yesterday. It was a nice night, and the course was well shaded. I wish I had brought bug spray, though. The course was in a park called Charlestowne Landing, and it's surrounded by wetlands and water, so lots of mosquitoes! But also really beautiful. As soon as I started the race, my right leg was…
-
@PastorVincent good luck on your marathon this weekend! @amgreenwell I have two little kids as well, so early runs on the weekdays are the only way I get it in. I'm glad to know I'm not alone. :)

5k day here! I've actually debated not running, as my right knee is still in bad shape. I told myself I would decide this morning to run or not run. Thankfully, my knee is feeling a lot better this morning. I'm sure it'll be sore after running tonight, but I'll ice and rest the rest of the weekend most likely. I did get in…

I did some strength training today. Have a 5k race tomorrow. Went to the doctor yesterday for my knee. She said it's most like tendonitis, so I haven't ran since last Wednesday. Hopefully it'll feel better tomorrow for my race.
-
Going for 30 miles again this month. Hoping I will crush my goal. I have at least two runs scheduled this month...a race series on the 3rd and a mother's day run on the 12th.
-
That was actually one of the things that came up when I googled my symptoms. What are they doing for treatment?
-
To run or not run? I've been having pain behind my knee that radiates down my leg. It kind of makes my foot feel like it's asleep. I'm running a 5k this Thursday, so I don't want to injure it by running more early this week. I haven't actually run since last Wednesday, so I don't think that it's from running. What do you…

Yes! The reviews I've read have not been kind to Fitbit. And from what I've heard from other people.

Thank you for all the advice. Not just from you, but all the others input, as well. It seems that everyone thinks Garmin is superior. Now I'm looking at the Garmin vivoactice 3, which is waterproof and good for swimming. The price isn't bad either.
