This scares me. Does this mean I can stop eating altogether?

Thanks for the tip, but sadly not all the USDA entries are correct. I've found many that only offer "cups" instead of "grams" for measuring or lists "one medium size" instead of "grams." I've also found verified USDA entries that have missing or inaccurate data. So for many of the common things I use the most, I like to…

Ouch.

Go to the USDA website, look up the various raw cuts of meat then create entries under "My Foods." It won't be perfect, but better than guessing!

I take my coffee with 1 fl oz of low fat milk and a tiny bit of "Frankensugar" aka fake sugar. Can't quite appreciate it "straight up!"
-
Funny you should mention this. I think this was one of the big reasons I gained weight. I would get caught in the anxiety/fear-of-sugar-crash loop and couldn't tell if I was really in need of food or freaking out that I might need food. However, now I think I've finally reached a point where I can tell the difference.

Thanks for all the feedback. I did have a chance to do one brief training session with the new trainer and that's when it "clicked." He's a bit obsessive about form, which is what I really liked. The original PT was not too assertive and only corrected me when I asked for feedback. Nice guy, just very shy but got me…

Thanks for all the comments. I was just really curious if anyone had ever used a scale since there are a lot of hardcore "weighers" out there! I take it super serious at home, but just TLAR the logging when I go out unless I have access to the nutrition data (which I don't take as gospel).

This absolutely makes sense. I guess I asked because I often see responses to posts related to lifting/resistance training implying that you shouldn't get excited about starting to see muscle definition cuz it's just an illusion due to being a beginner. Kinda like saying losing water weight really isn't weight loss...which…

Nothing as serious as that. I was just wondering if anyone has actually done it. I'm fine with guestimating and planning ahead the best I can without losing sleep or adding more gray hairs!
-
Okay, I think this makes sense. But how do I log it? I've now got to figure out what % of the raw I ate so I can accurately log the amount in MPF. I also fear that all my previous entries for the last few months have been waaay off. To me, 100 cals is a lot to be off by for one item!
-
Hmm, getting more confused since the posted suggestions on calculations differ by almost 100 cals. Maybe I'll just stick to raw foods...
-
Thanks usmcmp. *face palm* Maybe I should wait until AFTER I eat to log stuff since my brain is always fuzzy beforehand. ;)
-
Yep. Made homemade chips. I was surprised that they lost that much weight too. Hmmm...guess that would be "water weight," huh? :D

This is a great site: http://www.truthinoliveoil.com/extra-virginity The book is a fun read as well!

This ties in with a thought I had today: In a strictly dietary sense, are humans white meat or red meat?

This is one of my "go to" recipes: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/poached_salmon/ Super easy, quick and doesn't smell up the kitchen!

For me, I count it as exercise since I don't do it every day and when I do garden, I'm hauling bags of dirt, wrangling hoses, clearing brush, digging planting holes, and schlepping plants from one end of the yard to the other. And occasionally I do a quick sprint when I disturb our resident black snake and we scare each…

Thanks! I love Spanish cuisine and my MIL was the BEST cook! I have a few of her recipes, but it's just not the same without the amazing fresh Spanish produce. I know I'll be guzzling gazpacho whenever I can!!
-
Thanks! Good tip about the 100g serving size, I had forgotten about that. Does make things simpler, imho. ;)
-
Nevermind! My bad! I just reread what you posted and it makes sense!

I get how to I can weigh the cauliflower, but once the oil and spices are on it, how can I break it down to get the amount of oil?
-
Thanks for all the replies. I must be doing something right since the scales are starting to move in the downward direction! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and try not to "over think" it. :)
-
So, how do I NOT estimate? I'd love to get exact numbers of my burns and calories, but unsure how to do so. I weigh my foods, use a heart rate strap for cardio then subtract 20% from the calorie burn listed and do my best not to eat back calories, buy maybe that's not the best approach?

I really like the Hojica green tea from the NM Tea Company (website). Lower in caffeine than most other green teas, but with great earthy flavor!
