Local beef and pork products

Anyone but their beef and pork locally? We bought half a cow and a whole hog. I have no clue the calories in the stuff or the best way to calculate it. This meat will last us all year so it's pretty much exclusively what I'll use. Any suggestions?

The meat includes burgers, ground beef, steak, roast, bacon, ham, pork chops, etc.

Did the butcher label the cuts?

Go to the USDA website, look up the various raw cuts of meat then create entries under "My Foods." It won't be perfect, but better than guessing!

Can't help you, except suggest the UDSA database - but I do enjoy buying from the local butchers; they're all Halal, so no pork though :#

Pefect. Didn't even think of that. I've never used the "my foods" took.

I get meat from a CSA. All of the cuts are labelled, so I kook up the cut+"usda" in mfp.

I bought a pig locally this year, previously we've bought and butchered sheep. I use the USDA entries.
