Your story sounds similar to mine. The first time I made a real effort to improve my health in 2014, I started at 345 pounds and got down to 235. A change in jobs and stress at home led to me getting lax in my eating habits and discarding my exercise routine which resulted in ballooning back up to 300 pounds prior to…

Congratulations on your success! Terrific work!

Broke 210 on St. Patrick's Day - must be the luck of the Irish! New mini-goal is 205 by April 15th. Even better, I can see the first major goal ahead at this point - dropping below 200!

I brought my sneakers and a change of clothes to work. My office is next to a trail and I want to take advantage of it to run right after work before I need to pick up my son from practice.

Slow runner victory lap. I ran my first 5k in two years (and my first outdoor run of the year) on Sunday. Not only did I run the entire distance, I exceeded my expectations by running at a "blistering" 11:38 pace. I only had two goals going into the race 1) finish it without walking for extended periods and 2) break 40…

Under 215, new mini goal is 210 by April 1

Been there. Dad things were once beer, pizza and sports on TV. I was sedentary, morbidly obese (to the tune of 350+ lbs.) and unable to play with my son for long periods of time if it involved any physical exertion. Several years and multiple attempts later, he and I go to the gym together several times a week and I am…

@Lietchi Most of the races I have run place the "real runners" up front so they can get off to a fast start, then stagger the rest of the field by their average mile/km time to try to make it a good experience for all involved. It works well as long as people are honest about their pace. Even as a slow runner, it is no fun…

I found my people! I've started running after a 2 year absence and I'm currently running 13-14 minute miles. Even when I was running on a regular basis, I was a 11:30 miler with a PR of just under 10 minutes. I have a hip that occasionally gives me trouble and pushing the pace irritates the joint. I'm running a 5k soon and…

Last night I had to attend a hybrid meeting for a volunteer organization. Without thinking (and because I was running late), I positioned myself in full gaze of the webcam. When I looked over at the screen, I actually liked the way I looked on camera. As a person who would shy away from photos (not to mention video), this…

I am so close to sizing down from 2X to XL shirts. I love the idea that this is a mini-goal rather than a long-term goal at this point in my progress!
-
Technically not 100% a NSV, but I recently had to change my profile to move my "long term" weight goal to my "short term" goal and create a new long term goal weight.

Weighed in under 220 on Valentine's Day. New mini goal is 215 by St. Patrick's Day.

I got a haircut last night and the stylist asked "are you still losing weight?" After that affirmation, she could have butchered my hair and I still would have given her a tip! People notice, but it's good to hear someone tell you once and a while.

I adopted a plant-based diet at the beginning of the year. My plan is to become more creative in the ways I use plant proteins when I cook. I'm hoping to build a library of go-to recipes; right now, I'm watching a ton of videos on YouTube and Instagram to come up with ideas.

Broke 225 this morning - excited to see the scale moving in the right direction. New mini-goal is 220 by the end of February.

After a long plateau, I broke into the 230's - next mini goal is to get to 225 by Valentines Day

Hi! My name is Shawn and I recently committed to veganism. I had a good friend who is my age become vegan after he suffered a "widowmaker" - the health transformation he has achieved by eating a completely plant-based diet and working out is truly remarkable. Additionally, I watched the documentary "The Game Changers" and…

According to my Fitbit, my cardio fitness based on my age and heart rate is in the now in the good to very good range

Every pair of pants in my closet is either loose or too big. My wife convinced me to purchase a pair of size 34 jeans and when I tried them on, they fit comfortably. I haven't worn a 34 since I was 16 years old, so this is a huge NSV for me!

This is the first month since I recommitted myself to better health I haven't seen a loss (actually a small gain). My mini-goal for November is to either maintain my weight or get back to my low-water mark by the end of the month. I am trying to play the long game on this and realize there will be setbacks along the way…

Realized I completed Sober October without even thinking about it.

The best thing anyone ever said to me is from a friend I hadn't seen in a long time "Every time I see you, you keep getting younger."

My favorite (and to be fair, I think some people do this when they're really not sure whether you've made changes to your life or that you could possibly be ill): "You meant to lose weight, right?"

For the last several years (with the exception of last year), my friends and I go on a boys weekend. Simply put, I am tired of being the fat friend.

Remembering that fluctuations are natural and you can be up a couple of pounds (hello, salty foods!) and still be on the right path

That clothes that are "comfy" and clothes that "fit" can be two entirely different things. More than once, I have left the house in a shirt I thought looked good on me because it was comfortable, only to catch my reflection to see it was hopelessly too large to be worn in public. Other times, I put on a shirt and wonder if…

It's a solitary experience. People won't comment on your weight loss either out of a sense of decorum or a fear that it's unintentional, both which I understand. The weigh-ins, measurement and logging of food, and activity tracking are rituals you perform alone for the most part. There are few people with whom you…
