Congratulations on your success Mike and thank you for posting today. It helps reinforce what I am trying to do as a man in his early 50s. Keep up the great work!

I was volunteering at my son's school the other day and one mom said to another "He's been losing weight for a long time but doing it the right way - slow and steady." It was a reminder that everything I am doing is making a difference and others are noticing (even if most don't say anything!)

I gained a lot of weight during 2020 and alcohol played a major role. I'm not a heavy drinker, but I found myself drinking more often while spending so much time at home. As part of my recommitment to my health, I cut out alcohol for the most part. Since January, I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a drink…

Less than 2 pounds from being 75% towards my current target weight.

Same. I was heading out the other day and haphazardly grabbed a "comfortable" shirt. When I saw my reflection in the mirror later, I realized I should no longer wear it out of the house as it absolutely hangs off me (and not in a good way!) Congratulations to you and continued success!

I pulled my favorite hoodie out of the back of the closet (The Land of Misfitting Clothes) and it fits perfectly! It's time to do a closet rotation and donate the clothes that don't fit because they are too big. It feels good to be able to say that!

A couple of tenths away from 245 - now eying 240. I am really close to reaching my lowest weight since I was in my early 20s.

Goal met this morning! New mini-goal is 245.

Less than 4 pounds from 250

My favorite jeans fit again!

Don't be surprised if it takes close friends/relatives a long time to broach the subject of your weight loss with you. I literally had to lose 40 pounds before my mother, whom I see on a regular basis, said that it looked like I had lost weight. The outfit I had on "fit" a few months ago and is now fairly baggy, so it must…

Less than 3 pounds until I hit 40 pounds lost on my current efforts which is almost the halfway mark to my goal.
-
That's the best for your self-esteem (and worst for your budget!) I'm in-between sizes right now and can't wait to ditch the bigger size.
-
I'm working in 5 pound increments these days. I just broke the 25 pound weight loss barrier (which put me at my pre-pandemic weight), so the next goal is reach 30 pounds lost.
-
I'm within 3 pounds of my weight before I started working from home due to the pandemic.
-
My current goal is to lose the first 20 pounds - I've got a little less than 5 to go.

I have a few NSVs. 1) Two weeks at home so far and I haven't let my eating habits go completely to pot. 2) I'm finding a way to workout every day. 3) Most importantly, my wife and I have been getting along well and working hard to help our teenage son navigate his feelings about all of this. I think the lack of a regular…

Make sure you get a ring guard or the ring resized. I failed to do so and lost my wedding ring when I took some recycling to the recycling center and it fell off in a dumpster.

Found out I did not get a job I had applied for at work which would have involved a promotion. While I am disappointed (and a little angry, if I'm being honest), I didn't try to self-soothe using alcohol and food. Instead, I am channeling those emotions to fuel my workouts at the gym.

I take a sabbatical from Facebook during Lent each year (less for religious reasons than for mental health ones). I find I don't miss it that much while I'm gone but slowly get sucked back in after a few weeks. Honestly, if it weren't for pictures of friends/family's kids and pets, I'd probably have left long ago.

For me, I think it is a combination of weight loss and confidence. When I'm losing weight (or at a comfortable weight), I feel good about myself and that kind of positive attitude is noticeable to others. That being said, I definitely get flirted with more when I weigh less - if I notice I'm looking better, it makes sense…

Delete? Most of my friends just stop logging into MFP one day and never come back...

Deliberately stepping into an argument with someone who has radically different political or religious views than mine. Not to say I haven't activated this landmine on accident, but I definitely try to avoid doing it on purpose.

My son likes the glacier cherry flavor in Gatorade zero and the blue flavor in the Powerade zero. Powerade is generally a few cents cheaper than Gatorade in my area, so if cost is a contributing factor, go with the Powerade.

I cleaned up my closet and removed anything that didn't fit because it was too big; I also got rid of anything I didn't like but bought solely because it "fit." I ended up donating 4 huge bags of clothes to my local mission. Bonus - I found several shirts I really like I thought I lost by thinning out my closet.

I don't say "No" as much as I did. I'm more comfortable in my skin and willing to try most anything. In the past 3 months, I competed in a bacon-eating contest (came in 4th out of 4 - not as big an eater as I thought I was!), became ordained and officiated a wedding ceremony, and began training for a 10k.

I do it to maintain my physical and mental health. I simply feel better when I work out.

Same here (both for my love of metal and use of sarcasm). People who don't know me well are always surprised when I show up in a Slayer T-shirt or talk about metal shows I attend.
