I do not subscribe to the magic oils. It seems like such a white suburban craze.

I don't think it works that way. You can grow new fat cells, but when you lose weight, you do not see a decrease in fat cells. That's why I think it is easier to change your set point up rather than down. I appreciate your comments. I have been slowly losing from my highest at 196, to now somewhere in the 170s, using high…

A slice of Ezekiel bread with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and a teaspoon of raw honey is my usual.

I try to burn about 400-500 calories in exercise before a night drinking, and I mix my own drinks with fresh-squeezed lime, lemon and grapefruit juices ... and as you lose weight, you won't need as much to get a buzz!

I won't do low carb for this very reason! It feels awful to me! I second Metamucil and I eat a slice of Ezekiel bread everyday

I think it makes things very complicated for some. I think there needs to be more research on metabolism, metabolic damage from high-sugar western diets, and the science of weight maintenance. It's not an excuse, but many people come here frustrated by lackluster outcomes in their fitness/health journeys, and there could…

I like green giant steamers with a side of chicken

I genuinely love vegetables and whole foods and I'm a good home cook, so my meals are prepared by me with lots of vegetables and that is the key for me.

Today I weigh 5 pounds less than I did last Friday and I didn't do anything different. I've been at it awhile. I'm in my 40s and I measure how I'm doing by my average highest weight. My highest weight continues to trend downward and that's over a long period of time.

Alcoholic beverages. I make mean cocktails but exercise endorphins have me reaching for alcohol much less as a stress reliever.

Sometimes kombucha or wine is a nice appetite suppressant for me. A slice of Ezekiel bread with PB is a go-to for me also. I think cabbage is the greatest vegetable for this too. It takes so long for your body to break down so I eat lots of raw cabbage with wraps and different light dressings like Asian sesame. I also make…

I think for some people, sugar cravings are an issue when you want to change your diet. It was for me an urge that could only be cured with chocolate. Frankly, I had to spend a couple of weeks with these uncomfortable pangs, and once I started having less and less refined sugar in my diet, I no longer craved it. I get by…

I am 43 and I can vouch that it's really hard. 20 years ago, slight changes would result in significant weight loss. Now, significant changes result in only slight weight-loss! It really takes close monitoring of calories! And I question whether I'll ever be able to get to my goal.

Raw cabbage in salads and wraps. It's like spinach is to Popeye!

The pain and misery does end when your body adjusts. You are probably used to eating more sugar, and it is particularly difficult to break yourself away from the clutches of sugar.
-
I eat a very high fiber diet myself, but I'm in my 40s, and am going through some hormonal changes that contribute to intestinal problems. I need Metamucil sometimes!

What's HCG?

I think you have to break with your emotional attachment and anxiety towards eating for either of those strategies to be successful.

I think a lot of the reasons people give up on their weight loss efforts is because they are too strict with themselves and don't allow real life to happen sometimes. Enjoy your brisket and beer! As long as you don't overdo it and not everyday is a brisket and beer day, you're doing well!

Sugar is another addiction, and it's a difficult one to break. I think it's important to recognize that the cravings and overwhelming desire to sweet treats is part of that. Headaches and other problems like fatigue may occur. But once you get past it, a tomato or a peanut tastes swet.

Every day I try.

Okay well even at 65%? I had heard in other places that it was 90%. But let's use 65%

I think more dangerous than canned chicken are meats cured with sulfites-deli meats, hot dogs, etc. And meat in order to not be carcinogenic has to be eaten in SMALL quantities. Processed foods DO harm people. Nearly 90% of all Americans get high blood pressure in their lifetimes. I agree that food needs to be fresh and…

Pick out what you like the most and have it once in awhile! A burger but no fries!

Food marketing. The way food is marketed is so out of step with the amount of calories we can have in order to not be obese, it's stunning. You pretty much have to swim upstream against American food culture in order to be remotely healthy.

I will definitely have to work on this. Thanks for your input.

No that's not it at all. I ate 122 grams and logged 99 and 23 (because on my phone it only goes up to 99, so then I added 23 to make 122). The inaccuracy is in the calorie content of the food. It was way under what it should've been in the database.

Thank you so much. It's almost time for my annual blood work, and I know that being lighter always results in better cholesterol numbers. It's frustrating to work hard and not see results.
-
Definitely. I see that now. It looks like I'm going to have to become more sophisticated with this. Thank you.

I'm 5'6". Currently 178. I really wanted to avoid telling y'all that!
