Hi Carol. Yes, it helps to have a supportive group. Whenever you have a bad day and need support, post it here! Glad you joined us. BTW, I'm 77.

@Joy1580vb... Living on a farm in Canada! How nice must that be. I bet your summers and falls are spectacular. What part of Canada?
-
@Joy1580vb... Hi and welcome. I didn't start this group but have been on it daily. Having a supportive group makes all the difference. When the weather improves, you'll get out more and the activity will help you a lot! Where do you live? I'm in Florida. Had to turn my air conditioning on today! I cruised in the Gulf of…

@nsk1951... I enjoyed your post. I'm going to postpone going on the computer until much later in the day. Also, not turning the TV on in the morning. Let's see if it helps me with getting my projects done. Lots of spring cleaning to do. @Corina1143... I can relate to you about the clothes. I'm in the process of sorting…

@nsk1951 You're doing great! Keep up the good work! My goal has been to get going on housework and projects as soon as I get up. Usually, by the time I've had my coffee(s) and signed into the pc, checked emails, etc., I've lost my momentum and do nothing much for the rest of the day, just what I HAVE to. I did better…

@jonni82014 So glad you joined us. You certainly fit right in. You sound very disciplined and that's good. I went on a cruise a month ago and got covid the week I got back (from my son, not the cruise). I've been extra tired since getting over it and my housework has piled up. I'd be mortified if anyone came inside my home…

@Corina1143 But you're making improvement! You took care of the bedroom and bathrooms. The kitchen can wait until tomorrow. I did a little better. Needed to vacuum but had to run errands so I drug out the vac and put it in the middle of the living room floor. When I got home, I jumped right on it and got the whole house…

@nsk1951 Good for you! I hope this will be a day when you stay on target. Sleep is so important. If we don't get enough, then we feel tired and that leads to eating haphazardly, the wrong foods and too much (for me at least). I'm dressed and ready to go out and run errands now. When I get back, I plan to keep the momentum…

Corina, that's a really GOOD start. Congrats! I told myself yesterday that I was going to jump into my projects first thing this morning, but I spent the last 2 days at my highschool reunion and I'm tired. Think I'll take it easy today.
-
@nsk1151 "Get an earlier start to my day by getting ready to go out first thing instead of playing some wake-up games on my computer"! Me too. I'm guilty of that and then I lose all motivation to do anything and just lounge around the house and don't get anything done (and I have a long "to-do" list I need to tackle.)…

@nsk1951 I can't wait to make it. I'll let you know how I like it!

Thanks! I'm going to the store today to get the sausage. I have all the rest. So, no tomatoes or marinara? It would definitely make a nice main dish without pasta or wraps.
-
@nsk1951... Now THERE'S a great idea. "Chicken Italian Sausage" I've never had it but will look for it the next time I go to the store. What kind of peppers... also, onions and marinara sauce?
-
@nsk1951 Well, they didn't turn out so great. They needed to be a bit firmer so next time, I'll remove them from the crock pot when they're almost done, pour the sauce over them and either broil or bake them. I love wings so will keep experimenting until I get it right. Today I'm taking the chicken off the bone and putting…

That's a great tip! Thanks! I bought bagged chicken wings yesterday (BOGO). I froze one bag and cooked up the other bag in the crock pot, drained the broth (saved, froze it) and added Buffalo sauce... cooked a little longer. I'll have Buffalo wings today and freeze what I don't eat. Cost? About $3 @ meal. Glad to see you…

I bought two pork tenderloins yesterday (BOGO), cut them into medallion size pieces and zip lok bagged them into (8) half pound bags. They're in the freezer now and all I have to do is thaw out a bag when I want and pan fry them in coconut oil or bacon drippings. I had some last night, and they're as tender as filet…

I went to the grocery store today and realized that 90-95% of the food is not whole, unprocessed food, so is not on my diet. I bought some meat and kitty litter then came home. Earlier I had a big salad and a cup of cabbage soup and for dinner I made a grilled ground chuck patty with grilled tomatoes, brussels sprouts in…

Mel, Congratulations! It's harder to lose weight when we're our age but you have done it! I need to be more mobile and losing weight will help. I took a cruise earlier this month and had to use a rollator walker to get around. I want to go again next year (my reward for reaching my goal of -100 pounds) and to be able to…

We've all been there and understand, and we're here to support each other. Losing weight is hard but we need to lose it. Being heavy is hard on old bodies. The other day I told myself, "I'm too old to be this fat." Younger bodies can handle it ok... They have young hearts, backs and knees but I don't. I want to live as…

I can't imagine fitting into a 10..... Good for you!

A BIG WELCOME TO THIS NEW GROUP! I can relate to everything you said. After losing 66 pounds over 2 years, I was very disheartened to put back 35 over the course of just a few months (so easy to do)... but I'm back on track now and have dropped 5 pounds in the past 10 days. This is not a vanity project for me. My life…

Corina, I'm not saying I have this eating thing licked but keeping my appetite under control is my aim. I find that sugar and high carbohydrate foods trigger my appetite (and I have no restraint then) so I have to stay away from them. My first meal is a big salad around noon and the second is meat and veggies between 6-8…

Hi, Corina. I've tried different combinations of food and just now have started eating only meats, fruits, vegetables and a small amount of raw nuts. It's working too. I've only been back from my cruise for a week and have already lost what I gained (and I really let myself go wild and ate a lot!) I think I got all the…

Nicky, I think we just have! About overeating.... I find if I keep sweets and carbohydrates down to an absolute minimum, that my appetite stays under better control. If I have trouble with hunger before dinner, I eat some protein, like hard boiled eggs, to hold me over. Do you know how to bookmark this thread? It's helpful…

I'm 77. Lost 66 pounds over 2 years and then put some back on over the holidays and a cruise. Getting back on track now. It's a mental thing for me and I have the right mindset now. My goal is -100 pounds and I'm determined to reach it. I wear a pendant/necklace everyday with the number 100 on it to remind me of my goal.

I think your thoughts are normal. It takes a while to adjust to your new body image and you have to be somewhat obsessed with what you eat to lose 45 pounds. People who are not trying to lose weight might see it as obsessive though. I've been doing IF for several years and have lost 65 pounds. My appetite is normal or…

@shellifish7295... Good luck on that contest. I was in one years ago (2011)... Won the top prize of $2500 and became the national poster child for the company/product (won't name it). Unfortunately, it was a crash diet kind of thing, and I ended up putting it all back on and gaining an additional 20 pounds. I've learned to…

I haven't been feeling well for this past week. I thought I was depressed about my weight gain but I just took my blood pressure. It's low (for me). Think I'll start monitoring my BP more frequently and notify my doctor if it gets too low. Might be why I haven't had much energy. I'm back on track diet-wise and discovered…

I got down in the dumps for several days because it looked like my weight was going up and I felt powerless to do anything about. Stayed home, ate and didn't want to talk with anyone. Ever been like that? But as Rod Stewart sang, "I got my nip and turned around..." and my weight is coming down now. I'm counting calories,…

Hi everyone, Just wanted to say that I got down in the dumps for several days because it looked like my weight was going up and I felt powerless to do anything about. Stayed home, ate and didn't want to talk with anyone. Ever been like that? But as Rod Stewart sang, "I got my nip and turned around..." and my weight is…
