@AnnPT77 Thank you Anne! This is the most consistent I have ever been. It feels good. And I feel good.

Today, August 1st, is exactly one year since I started my weight loss journey. To date I have lost 79.2 lbs and have logged for 365 straight days. I feel so much better than I did one year ago. I move better, easier. My back no longer hurts. I have way more energy. Consistency has been so important for me.

@springerling62. Yes! Let me know what you think about them if you do try them!

That's suppose to say " Sporti brand" NOT sporting

https://www.swimoutlet.com/products/sporti-heavy-resistance-buoyancy-aqua-cuffs-8114181/?color=black I use these. These may be heavier resistance than the blue ones. With the sporting brand the black are heavier than the blue. Also they stay in place extremely well. I have never had to readjust them after I got it set…

I now eat less low nutrient high calorie food (junk food) and more nutrient dense lower calorie food. This allows me to be satisfied with a lot less calories. I haven't given up anything but really limit the junk food now.

Welcome @BlessedGmaof4 ! You've found a supportive group of people on this thread. I also had 100 lbs to lose when I started my journey. The thing about different eating plans is that they all work if you stay within your calorie limits. You need to decide what you are most comfortable with. I for one don't follow a…

I do agree though that whether you do low carbs or higher carbs is a personal decision and everyone should do whatever makes them feel the best wirhin their calorie budget, and gives them good energy to accomplish what to want to do throughout their day

When I first talked to my doctor a year ago about losing weight he mentioned a low carb diet as a choice ( he was also taking into account that I was pre-diabetic at the time and knew reducing carbs would help). I don't think I could be satisfied on a very low carb diet but many people I know do like it. I've been keeping…

Thank you @AnnPT77 . I hope I have the same experience you had with bone density results. @nativemistlg Welcome. This is a great thread. Very supportive people here @Ineedtolose50lbs. So sorry you have Covid. Take it easy and don't try to do too much too soon.

@springlering62 I recently found this thread and just finished reading it in its entirety. Loved it! I wish I had found it earlier. So much good information here...presented clearly and with humor. I have it bookmarked for future reference. The mental vision of BL with the chip clip holding up his pants had me LOL!

Saw my doctor today to talk about medication for my declining bone density. I now have a prescription for a generic of Fosamax which I will take once a week. He also wants me to increase my calcium and they took blood to check my vitamin D level. Hopeful I can keep my bone density from deteriorating any further. (And maybe…

For me, MFP has been an blessing. So far I have lost almost 80 pounds in almost a year tracking my food. By weighing and logging my food I know if I'm in a calorie deficit. Other methods of weight loss can work too but what's common among all of them is that they put you in a calorie deficit even if they don't note that in…

@AnnPT77 I did not know that about Tamoxifen. Thank you so much. Many of us on this forum are grateful for your informative, thorough, and well articulated comments in many areas of health, weight loss, and exercise. I have much respect for you.

@AnnPT77 Now that you mention it, my mom was on Tamoxifen for about 5 years after she had breast cancer. They caught it early and just had a lumpectomy with radiation. No chemo. But they did put her on that anti estrogen drug. So that may have effected her osteoporosis progression as well. Who knows. Glad you're okay now.…

Today I was able to zip and button a pair of size 14 non-stretchy pants! I started out out wearing a size 22 and every time I get to the next size down I start trying on the size down from that every couple of weeks. So encouraging to go from barely getting them over my hips to see the zipper gap get less and less and…

@AnnPT77 Thank you so much for this information regarding your experience with medication for bone density. That was very helpful and makes me feel better hearing that you did have improvement with it with no side effects. I really don't want to go down the path my mom did. She had osteoporosis and was pretty frail in her…

Yes, I understand about how that can be expensive. I've lost 75 lbs over the last year and mostly had clothes in my closet in all different sizes to get me through. However the last time I was at the size I am now it was winter. So I ended up buying some summer clothes and also wearing some clothes I had that were a little…

Today I weighed in at 165 lbs which is 75 lbs down from my highest weight of 240. My mini goal is to reach a healthy BMI by my 70th birthday October 14, 2022. Right now my BMI is 27.5. I need to lose just over 15 lbs to make my goal.
-
Thank you, @coblujay. Yeah, I hope the medication for the bone density works well. As far as the high blood pressure, getting off at least one of the meds will be a goal for the coming year.
-
Ann, I know how you feel! Two of my doctors are retiring this year, well, one is my dentist but I have been with both of them for decades also. Very frustrating.! Speaking of doctor visits I had my annual physical this month and a bone density scan. After losing almost 75 lbs, I was hoping to come off at least one blood…

Love this post! So very true!

Thanks @Timberlan127. Yes, there is strength training involved with the water aerobics. The water alone provides resistance and we use aqua dumbbells in many of the classes. So it's helping. I feel it afterwards. However, I know lifting is more effective. I hope to start doing that soon. Like you, I just need to make…
-
@bethe I also don't love strength training and I know that is one thing I am lacking with my exercise. My aqua aerobics does incorporate a lot of use of water weights in the classes and running against the current is definitely a leg strengthening exercise but I know I need more. Since I've been a yoyo dieter in the past,…

Hi, everyone! It's fun to see what everyone has been doing now that summer is officially here. Wasn't sure it was coming as the first couple weeks after Memorial Day were cold and rainy. Our Y took the aqua classes outdoors starting Memorial Day. It was really cold those first couple weeks but it's amazing how fast you…

I so agree with this statement! I had to very slowly increase my activity and was amazed at how good I felt when I exercised. My energy level is so much higher now. I used to feel just drained all the time. It's important to start slow, increase gradually and be consistent. If all you can do is 2 minutes around your living…

@Crash_Lynn82 Welcome! I do understand the junk food dilemma! This is a wonderful place to come for support.

I agree that easy is what works for me also. I usually eat the same breakfast everyday of oat bran hot cereal with 2 tablespoons of chia seeds. Simple no cook lunches and rotating dinners during the week. Sometimes on weekends I'll fix a large batch of chili in the crockpot and freeze in individual containers for lunches…

When my doctor and I discussed losing weight last summer he suggested Weight Watchers which he said worked for his parents and many of his patients. I'm sure it did and I know it's a good plan. However, I told him I was going to use My Fitness Pal because it worked for me before and I actually like calorie counting. I'm…

Restarting exercise for me was a very slow progression since I was recovering from a bad couple months of vertigo and I had just spent 2 years basically just sitting on my couch. I was worried about making my lower back pain worse (exercising did just the opposite) and I was worried about falling due to the dizziness from…
