  • Recently I have been eating more carbs (mainly veggies) because of having company over. I have been cycling the same 5 pounds forthe past 2 months or so. Since increasing the carbs, the scale seem to be moving downward again. I am going have to ponder Pomroy's way of eating. I have ordered the book on Amazon. Going to…
  • I did not know that about shredded cheese. I been using them because it is easier. Okay, time to find that Cheese shredder that I got as a wedding gift. LOL.
  • Welcome. I second this forum. It is very active and tons of information from knowledgeable people who are at different levels to weight loss and/or good health. This is one diet that I can stick to for a lifetime because I can eat all the foods I love and as much as I want (within reason of course). I am never Hangry! All…
  • Last time I went to Cheesecake Factory I asked for a hamburger with no buns. Other than the Caesar salad, there really does not seem to be anything that would be okay for LCHF.
  • sent you a friend request. You can add me
  • I don't lose when having dairy, especially cheese. I eat cheese very rarely. The only dairy that I have daily is butter. I am a little lactose intolerant. I wonder if you have some degree of lactose intolerance it affects weight. Since butter is very low in lactose it does not affect me.

  • You may want to drink ACV. My husband has gout. Being on this WOE caused a big flare up. So right now he has cut back on the amount of protein and upped his carb (mainly from veggies and fruit). he rarely eats bread, pasta, etc... He is not on low carb, but lower carb. He takes ACV 2-3 times a day and it really helps. He…

  • So egg fast is that for every egg that you eat, you need to eat 1 TB of fat, butter or mayo. I am not sure what the calculated ratio would be between fat and protein. You are allowed to eat small amounts of cheese. So it is very low carb. I think you can get the same benefits if you just went very low carb to zero carb,…
  • @KnitOrMiss - So I went on a few sites to see if I have low stomach acid. And it looks like I do. I probably need to be more consistent with my ACV. I always take it first thing in the morning, but not so consistent throughout the day. Do you take a probiotic as well? I have been toying with the idea for a few months.
  • My husband thinks I am eating way too much meat. But he stills cooks up my hamburgers and steaks for the week anyway. I think he is just jealous because he has to be careful how much meat he consumes because of his gout.
  • I have gallstones. Since eating this WOE have triggered an attack twice (I've had attacks before the WOE just did not know what it was previously). Although the 2nd time was very mild, more just general uncomfortableness then a sharp stabbing pain. I try to eat very low carb. I think the attacks come when I eat too high of…
  • I make mine 8 oz coffee. Put in 1 TBL Kerrygold butter and 1 TBL of MCT oil. Blend in my magic bullet. I love it. It tastes like latte. I am up very early morning so the BPC is my first meal. Often it will keep me full so I don't need to eat for another 3-5 hours (depends on the day). I have also drunk it with breakfast on…
  • Congratulations on your milestone! I am so sorry about your illness. I pray for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery.
  • Are you eating enough and having enough fat during your meal time? Often my meal will consist of 10 oz 73/27 ground beef patty. Sometimes I may add a little extra butter. This would keep me full for hours (most days). Some days I can't even finish the full patty. I am on the side of not counting calories. I just make my…
  • Oh Yum!
  • @DittoDan by "heirloom" seeds are you referring to tomatoes? We grow a lot of different types of heirloom tomatoes. Although we haven't grown it by seed. There is a great book that talks about all aspects of growing heirloom tomatoes.…
  • Do you eat protein that has a lot of fat already? For ground beef I have the 73/27 kind. I get roast duck and eat the skin. If you want to make chicken parm make it with crushed pork rinds. Always get beef that is marbleized. I also eat pork belly. For me I like eating animal fat, although I understand it puts off most…
  • Congratulations! I also realized that I was snacking too much. I now I eat 2-3 meals, but I make it bigger meals with lots of fat to keep me fuller longer and drink lots of tea and water in between (this helps the urge of wanting to snack). I try to make my last meal no later than 6PM. In the morning I have BPC with butter…
  • Congratulations! That is awesome. I also like that you took pictures with the same clothes it also highlights how far you have come!
  • I think it does get easier over time as you learn to replace the old treats with LCHF treats and your taste buds evolve. I usually just keep things out of the house that I should not eat, but I live with my mother-in-law, who buys a lot junk food. It is getting easier NOT to give into eating junk food. I make sure I have a…
  • Do what feels good and fun for you and the rest will follow. Now I am exercising to keep stress down and I feel the need for physical activity. I am also doing more weight lifting and HIIT exercises for a more toned body. I am thinking of starting yoga for stress reduction and improved flexibility. There is a yoga studio…
  • Thanks. Bought it.
  • I grow marjoram. Most herbs and spices are not hard to grow. Just make sure you give them enough light and well watered every 2-3 days. I am not a gardener. My husband does all the gardening and he really does not pay that much attention to my herbs. All my herbs do very well with little care. I just need to remember to…
  • I don't know the medical and science behind LCHF and metabolism, there are many of you in this group that has a better handle on it then me. These are just my thoughts based on things I have read and contemplated since starting this WOE. The take away I get from this article and other related articles is that we need to…

  • I have gallstones and have yet taken the steps to have the gall bladder taken out. I am trying to be VLC or ZC, so I am eating lots of protein and fats. Definitely, if I eat something with high fat with high carb then I will get an attack. If I eat too much fat, I'll get an attack. For example last month there was the all…
  • I love my buttered coffee. Thinking about bringing my magic bullet, butter, and MCT oil on my Las Vegas trip so that I can whip up BPC every morning.
  • I have been losing hair for years. It has been big worry for me the last 7 or more years because my pony tail is a lot less thicker and I see more skin scalp. I have been taking for biotin for years but it really did not seem to be effective. I came across this article…
  • I agree with everybody. There is a lot more going on with your body when you are on LCHF then just weight loss. Not only is your body shrinking but many health issues that get cleared up. Look at the thread http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10358330/which-of-your-ailments-was-cured-by-low-carb. There were…
