I'm 5'2", 60 years old and I have 101# of lean body mass. I think that the LBM number really defines what's a good weight for you. About 135 is an ideal weight for my age and LBM as that gives me a fat % of 25%, which is fine at 60 years old. I'm about 142 now and feel I could lose 5-10 but I'm not unhappy here. However,…

Here's an interesting read, it's been in the news lately. Be sure to read it all the way through to see the chart interpreting the number. http://www.lchf-rd.com/2018/08/28/a-new-estimator-of-whole-body-fat-percentage/

Ever see a keto rash? My daughter did keto for 8 days and wow did she get a horrible rash.

Thanks so much!

I have a muscle disease and I'm in constant pain. I lost 70 pounds without exercising. It's more about portion control than working out. Now that the weight is off, though, I find I am able to swim without causing additional pain.

I'm curious how to figure out how many calories you burn walking in chest deep water, like in a pool.
-
How about walking in chest deep water?

Thanks for the replies! Lots of good things to try.

Definitely see a doctor. When I get dizzy, it's from low blood pressure. A couple of quick glasses of water (as per my doctor's advice) fixes me right up. See what your doctor says!

I'm in the same boat. Someone here on MFP's community posted a while ago (sorry, can't credit the source, don't remember who it was) something that changed my whole way of thinking. Another member was complaining about having to always weight, track, measure, and so on to maintain their weight. This member posted that it's…

I am fighting a huge LNS urge right now. This challenge is helping me win. Off to make a cup of herbal tea :)

I'd like to join, too!! I think maybe I don't eat enough fat, because I'm always starving by about 7:00 at night (I eat dinner at 4:30). I find if I don't take the first bite, I'm okay. But even one bite of anything, it becomes a downward spiral. For December (I give myself gold stars on my calendar app, lol, so I know…

I have a degenerative muscle disease and I see a big name neuromuscular specialist at a big university hospital. When figuring out my protein requirements ( which are higher than for a normal, health person) he used lean body mass, not body mass. It's an important distinction when figuring protein requirements, you can't…

Thanks for the replies, enjoying reading them! BTW, I have reached my goal weight, and it does seem to be a "set point" for me, quite possible for some of the reasons given. So no, I'm not using "set point" as an excuse.

I've been zero thyroid for almost 40 years, taking full supplement. My doctor says that it "doesn't play nearly as large a part in weight control as people like to think". Apparently studies have shown that being low thyroid for several years *might* account for about a 5-10 pound weight gain, but there have been no true…

I've learned to love Arctic Ice ice cream. The chocolate is especially good, I like the pomegranite as well. It's made with whey protein and fiber, only 150 calories in the entire pint, for several of their flavors.

I read somewhere, probably on MFP, that you have two choices. You can either be hungry, or you can be fat. I have to remind myself of that all the time, because I am always hungry. My maintenance level is only about 1400 calories, and despite eating large amounts of veggies and lean protein I can't add much fat or I will…

I am so envious of some of the maintenance calorie amounts! Mine is about 1400.

I like the fettucine alfredo, I add a packet of tuna and some broccoli and get a super high protein meal for just 250-ish calories.
