  • I'm confused. Why are people cheering for someone who ate a diet composed almost entirely of junk food? He says he did this unhealthy thing because he didn't believe it was possible and wanted to see for himself - is that why they're applauding? Because he didn't believe it and now does?
  • I don't see a double chin. You have full cheeks, but no double chin. Your face will thin out. If you're anything like me, other people will see it before you do. I had to look at old pictures and say, "Oh, wow: Yes, I guess my face is thinner." Give it time and you'll be gorgeous as you wanna be. :)

  • Almost everything. I don't track sugar alcohols and a couple other minor things, but I track vitamins and minerals, including the carotenes. Those things are important.
  • With rice, people don't say that white is bad, just that brown is better. You get more goodness from brown rice, that kind of thing. I've never seen anyone say that white rice is actually harmful. With flour, depending on where you live, there can be actual problems. In America, we haven't outlawed bleaching flour and the…
  • The criticism I've seen regarding the counting of calories has made two points. The first is that it can get obsessive and foster eating disorders, which IMO is putting the cart before the horse. The second is that people who use calorie counting to lose weight won't bother eating healthy. Some people eat healthy while…
  • Unless you're pregnant, you get 12 oz of tuna per week, which is three standard size cans, so you went over by a can. If it's not a regular thing, it's unlikely that it would pose any problems. If it's albacore tuna, you get half that amount. The albacore stuff comes from older fish who've had time to absorb more mercury…
  • Tuna, edamame, strawberries and cherries
  • Freeze some grapes. They're sweet and a real treat on a hot summer day.
  • Different studies say different things. I think bras help women stay perkier longer. I cannot wear a tight-fitting bra to bed, but if wear a loose, shelf one. Otherwise, the girls are just too dang floppy. I just don't feel right. We all get saggy in the end, so do whatever makes you feel best.
  • It's the equivalent of a Get Rich Quick scheme. They're lying to you in order to try to get your money. You can lose weight without giving anyone your money. You cannot buy weight loss. Well, short of surgery, you cannot buy it. If you want to lose weight, you must work at it and be patient.
  • Digestion is complicated and unless you study it in depth, you won't understand it. Like everything else in the body, it doesn't work alone, so you need a little background in cells, histology and other organs in order to understand it. Almost 100% of the people who blab about it have no idea what they're talking about, so…
  • I eat all day, little meals, tiny snacks. I stay fuller, feel better and have more energy that way. I absolutely eat breakfast. If I don't, I'll be hungrier later in the day and it'll be harder to eat right.
  • The only con for me was that I had to go through caffeine withdrawal. The pros for me were that I felt a lot better, didn't want to eat as much, felt cooler in hot temperatures and I saved money. I'm very glad that I switched to water.
  • Weight loss gets harder as we age, especially for women, but you're not that old. Don't worry about whether or not it's harder, just keep going. Stick with it and you can do it!
  • Life is short. Do what you want to do.
  • Get a cast iron Dutch oven and there will be almost nothing you cannot make. Lids often do double-duty. Even a cast iron skillet would improve your meal selection process. Cast iron goes right into the coals, sits there a while and comes out none the worse for wear.
  • When we are losing weight, it is much harder to get the nutrients we need, so the focus is usually on how many nutrients for the calories. Where milk is concerned, the no-fat stuff will generally be healthier than whole or 2% for dieters.
  • I like rules, too. I set my own rules, though, because other people's rules are too hard to follow. If I had to pick a diet from your list, I'd pick South Beach.
  • I will second this. I figured out early in life that dairy did not agree with me, but if someone had told me to start a daily dairy, listing foods and amounts as well as symptoms, I'd have figured it out sooner. You might find out what helps and hurts. Needing to poop when it's not the best time to poop...it sucks. No…
  • Roasting me is the easiest and arguably best way to eat them. Try to get some vegetable cookbooks. There are so many things you can do with vegetables to make them taste good, if you want to do that. Where there's a will, there's a way!

  • I was The Lord God Empress of garbage food. It's all I ate. It tasted good. Then I worked on flipping my diet and now I eat healthy. It tastes good. For me, it was a lot of work, learning to cook, learning to shop, learning about nutrition, finding ways to not want to eat the junk. Lots of trial and error, trying foods I…
  • I think everyone has to do their own thing, but here are things that I've done that worked for me... Staying full. I eat four, five, six times a day. And I eat breakfast so that I don't pig out later. Eat healthy. It's much easier to stay full when I eat healthy and it's much easier to get my nutrients. Drink water. On…
  • 100 pounds is a lot to lose. Whoever said it wasn't was daft. Being young, your skin should snap back. No way to know until you lose the weight, though. You'll be healthier if you lose the weight, if that's any consolation. At 25, most people don't care about their health, I know. You will later, though. So do yourself a…

  • If you enter your info, the MFP will tell you how many calories to eat. You'll stay fuller eating healthier foods and you'll probably feel better, too.
  • I don't do it either but I will. I have to know about polenta and quinoa and how to make them. I have to ride the short bus to clean school but I will
  • How do you look up the groups?
  • T those look really good. I don't know what polenta is. Is there a site or a book that just tells you how to do it. I want to start but I need the beginning class!
  • I don't know that's what I need to know. How. What do I do? Just tell me anything on how you do it.
  • This is the best help.
