  • I had to figure out my "Big Why," the reason I wanted to do this. Was it to get fit so I could impress others or be attractive of feel better about myself? Was it for my kids or my health or my peace of mind? I asked myself why I wanted to lose weight and the answer was to be healthy, feel good about myself, and be around…
  • Nope, not the only dude in here, there are a few of us! Welcome!!!
  • Yup, I take a men's supplement & a DHA/EPA supplement with breakfast and a 5-HTP supplement at night. The men's supplement doesn't have Potassium in it, though, I get more than enough from the fruits and veggies. The biggest thing it gives me is B12 and D3.
  • When I started I kept my potassium up by eating at least 1/2 pound of fruit with breakfast (usually including a banana, orange, or cantaloupe which all have high potassium) and at least 1/2 pound of raw vegetables (especially spinach salad with cucumbers and some peas or broccoli in it which all have a lot of potassium) at…
  • I'm committed to logging everything daily as well! Add me! My diary is open.
  • Something that helped me was to go through a process that allowed my taste buds to like vegetables (I used to HATE raw tomatoes but now I love them!). I've found a gradual process is best, which is also one that Dr. Joel Fuhrman in his book, "Eat for Health" advises. Just like stemoo67 said, don't change your diet…
  • I'm 47 and been up and down with my weight the last three years. I'm 6'2" and started at 325 in 2015 and got down to 180 by end of 2016 but then back up to 257 in January. Ready to be consistent with what I eat and what I do with my body. Been eating Nutritarian for last 5 weeks and started jogging & body weights this last…
  • Started last week on my own but I also joined a running club that is doing the C25K challenge to prepare for a 5K it is sponsoring in May and the program starts on Tuesday. I figured I'd just repeat the first week since I've never done any distance running in my life. I started the C25K program a couple years ago and…
  • I'm IN. Started getting serious about a month ago. I'm a 6'2" guy, starting weight Feb. 13 was 249 lbs., currently 235 lbs., and my goal weight is 180 lbs. More importantly for me is to get my body fat under 22.5, not sure if I will reach that by end of May. Just started working out this week using the C25K plan to run a…
  • I'm on day 34 of no alcohol. With it being St. Patrick's Day today and celebrations last night was the first time to really struggle with it but made it through.
  • Couch-to-5K running/walking for 30 minutes (end of week 1, which is run for a minute, brisk walk for 1.5 minutes); body weight workout for 20 minutes.
  • Summer of 2014 I was 325 lbs. (I'm 6'2", & 42 at the time) and doctor told me to make some changes if I wanted to see 60. December, 2016 I weighed 180 lbs. I did it through a juice fast (ala Joe Cross from the movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead") which helped reset my taste buds and becoming a Nutritarian (through Dr. Joel…
  • I was 325 in summer 2014 (had a come-to-Jesus meeting with my doctor who told me to make some changes or be dead by 60), got down to 180 by end of 2016 and gained back to 255 by the beginning of this year. I'm currently at 240 having made a decision a couple months ago to get serious and do something about my long-term…
