Type 1 pumper here. Always open to new friends :) A1C has always been decent until last fall... I had a personal high score. I started on Dec 5th, lost 24.8lbs, average insulin in Dec was about 100 units, now I'm averaging 53 units/day. What has helped my glucose the most is the logging / weighing of everything and…

Heart, eyes, feet, kidneys... The list is goes on. I appreciate that you said to check with the physician, but that statement is…

Great job taking steps to manage your diabetes. I am a type 1 and I love MFP; I enjoy the premium version and think it is especially helpful for those of us managing diabetes. I agree with the others that meeting with a RD is a good idea. A diabetic educator can be helpful as well. Exercise and balancing your meals really…

I've actually been keeping a few sweets hidden (otherwise kids would eat them in a day) for when I want them. This way I have something available that is small but will take care care of the urge, but not mess up…

However, it is not the end of the world and you can control it. The fact that you are already using MFP and considering your…

I am checking my sugar a little more often. This helps because I am more likely to go low as I am using my insulin more efficiently with exercise... and because I do not want be forced to eat before what I had planned. As far as for weight loss... Yes you absolutely need to log and count those calories. Your goal should be…
