I realized yesterday: I have a waist again! That was very exciting!

Any of you still on here? My name is Mari and I'm trying to get leaner and stronger so I can get back to doing the things I love, like dance (esp. ballet), and gymnastics.

How's everyone doing today? I had a major case of the DON'T WANNAs, but I got up and I got out, and I'm glad I did. We only walked for 45 min today, and I kinda had to push my little four-foot along at the end of it, but we did it. And then I did a yoga video.

What a cutie! How old is he?

It's much harder when we're not single, or living alone! I've got a husband who is not interested in changing his eating habits or losing weight and a tween, as well. Here are some things that have helped me: * My DH and kid have places to keep their unhealthy snacks that are basically out of sight for me 90% of the time.…

Let's not quit, together! Feel free to add me as an accountability-buddy.

I could have written what you did in January. I'm down 16+ lbs, and still trying to find my way. Feel free to friend me if you want! We're at a funny age: young enough to have plenty of life ahead of us, old enough to have health scares in our friend circles. Some of the things I think to myself to keep myself plugging…

My new hero(ine)!

My weight dropped too low when my l.o. was nursing. We both needed more calories than I was used to consuming. What we did was start eating a lot of avocado, and coconut, and a lot of protein in the form of beans and rice, especially sweet brown rice. My doctor wanted me to eat a lot of eggs, too, but my l.o. was allergic…

Walking is currently 95% of my fitness each week. I'm trying to get stronger so I can start doing some of the other stuff I used to do, that I miss. But for now, I'm mainly walking, with tiny bits of yoga or biking or random other things thrown in once or twice a week. The thing is, walking is great for us! And I will keep…

Yikes! @projectmefitmom, I hope your family members heal up quickly! I could try an exercise a day for August. I say this kind of shrugging and cringing, but if you all are gonna do it, I should try, too!

@slherber: Nice! Here's me: 7/20 - 163 7/27 - 164.5 8/3 - 161.5 I'm okay with this!

This is about as much "action" as we get with our doggie. She actually runs home most nights at the end of her walk, but no one who hasn't seen it believes us, lol.

Shadow is beautiful!

@CoachFrenchie , I'm sorry. That's rough. And I know the feeling of going through the process of getting a dog only to find out they are not as healthy as you were led to believe! When we took ours to her vet appointment two days after adoption, the vet flat-out said, "Where did you get this dog? Take her back!" She had 8…

Macrobiotic folks make kanten, which is like a vegan Jello-type dessert, often with fresh fruit suspended in it. When it's done right, it's light and refreshing and can be really delicious. Unfortunately, whenever I try to make it I can't quite figure out when to stop cooking it, and it either comes out underdone and…

It's maple tree sap. At least that's what the brand I find around me says on their website. (Drink Simple). I'd love to just tap my own but don't know enough about trees to do it right/not harm the tree. Plus, I'm sure they clean it up some before they bottle it, and I'm not sure how I'd do that. I always thought sap would…

@projectmefitmom, are there any meals you all already agree on?
-
@Steve25k, did you make your mood board? I have not made one yet, but I DID get my bike out and cleaned up, and took it for a short spin. I think I just need my husband to show me how to adjust the derailer, because something isn't quite right, but then I should be good to go! And my husband says he's not biking until…

@Ccricfo, glad to hear Darwin is doing better! @CoachFrenchie, what's up with your pup and the antibiotics? Tummy trouble?
-
Oh, wow! What were the chances?! The one with OJ I feel like would be perfect when I have a cold. Did you make the green one, too? That's the one I'm trying to figure out right now.

I am also jealous of folks' homegrown produce! Nice job, all you gardeners! I love squashes, which is definitely not a phrase younger me would have ever believed would come out of my mouth. But I love kabocha and delicate and Hubbard, when I can get them, and summer squash and zucchini when I can't. And I love, love, love…

So, I'm following this with interest, as I am an emotional binge-eater, too. I come by it honestly, lol. My mom struggled mightily with food -- so much so that my own disordered eating paled by comparison and I didn't realize how messed up it was until I became overweight in my 30s. I have not figured out how to tame the…

@Saskatchebun, that sounds like a really good balance. I smiled when I saw he even weighs your food for you! That's very sweet.

Yes, I'm sure this is true. And right after my internal rant, I thought some version of this to myself, coupled with, "It's not fair to expect him to be a mind-reader. You can't read minds, either. And how much of this is you are just mad at yourself?" While I would love for him to be more of a cheerleader-type, I also do…

That sounds really hard, and you sound really strong! You are one of my new real-life inspirations, and I need those, so thank you for sharing this.

You're not off track at all! This is a thread for those of us doing it alone who have challenges with it! I appreciate your thoughts, and for what it's worth, Reenie and @Onedaywriter, snacks in the house are my kryptonite as well! I have a tween. Who loves snacks. So, yeah!

I'm in, and walking is my main form of exercise atm! Feel free to add me to your list!

So, maybe I should have added that I'm not drinking this stuff for the detox properties as much as because I love the flavor and it's healthier than an iced coffee or a sugary drink! But also, to your point: My liver and kidneys aren't in such great shape. My doc is trying to figure that out...
