Because a lot of people just don't care and it's a non-issue for them. I was thin until after my third pregnancy, gained a lot of weight in my early 3os, and at that point I honestly didn't care. It was a non-issue for me until I found out I was a pre-diabetic by chance. If that hadn't happened I wouldn't have lost the…

Yep yep :) This is one of the reasons why I deleted my FB account a while back!

This. I started succeeding at this whole thing once I got my mind in the right place, and a big part of that was realizing I control the foods I eat, it doesn't control me. I refuse to give food any power over me anymore and in the process I've lost the extra weight, improved my health and am now successfully maintaining.

How many are you eating a day? Eggs are a great food choice, so unless you're eating cartons at a time you're probably ok :) I get free range chicken eggs from a relative (for free), and my family of five can go through several dozen a week. I ate 5 egg whites plus1 whole egg that had two yolks in it yesterday myself .

I didn't do anything to celebrate milestones, because for me losing the weight that I gained in the first place, isn't a big thing to celebrate. I actually felt pretty sheepish about the whole thing. I'm not ashamed about talking about how I eat, I just think it's kind of odd that I would. I don't care how other people…

120lbs for someone who is 5ft 6in is still a healthy weight/normal bmi (19.4). Someone at that height can get down to 115lbs and still be a healthy weight/normal bmi. Just wanted to point that out, because there's people who are doing fine at that height/weight range, me included :)

This, I don't talk about it unless someone specifically asks me.

I've lost over 50lbs, have been in maintenance for over two years now, have excellent blood work panels and am in perfect health, and I consume artificial sweeteners every single day. Nothing wrong with them, unless you have an allergy/sensitivity to them.

This. For myself, I prefer to eat my biggest calorie meal at around noon (my first meal of the day).
-
That is not intermittent fasting.

I had a few of the ones my kids didn't want. Mini Almond Joys and Butterfingers mostly.

One of the things I had to deal with was night time snacking. As I went through my weight loss phase I started pushing back my cut off time for eating-started at 10pm and ended up at 7pm over the course of several months. This made a huge difference in controlling my calorie intake. Now I'm in maintenance and I still…

I think this is one of the big reasons why so many people fail at long term weight loss success. The initial excitement does go away, the motivation fades, and alls you have ahead of you is years and years, and then more years of the same old same old maintenance routine. In a nutshell-maintenance is boring :| There is a…

The biggest thing is to realize you're going backwards, acknowledge it and then make the decision to make the changes needed to correct the weight creep. You say you've started eating bigger portions, so right there is a great thing to work on-just cut back on your portion sizes. Simple to do, and it will help you get back…

It can take several months to get your weight to stabilize after you've officially called goal. It took me around 6 months-I couldn't stop losing and had to do lots of trial and error adjustments before I finally settled into my current maintenance range (which is around 15lbs less than my original goal weight and at one…

The biggie for me is my glucose number-when I started this whole thing back in 2012 I was labeled a pre-diabetic. Now I'm consistently seeing glucose numbers in the 80s :) I've lost a couple relatives to type 2, so I'm pretty geeked about my numbers!

This has been the case for me. I focused on eating less/calorie deficit but didn't change the kinds of food I ate, and as the weight loss happened my blood work improved quite a bit. Now I'm in maintenance and still eat all the foods I like, and I still have great blood work panels (last month's gave me a new HDL high at…

I've never stepped foot into a gym and never will. Not a necessity by any means.

Is that realistically how you're planning on eating for the rest of your life? What happens after you hit your goal weight and go into the many, many years of maintenance? I'm 5'6 and my maintenance range is 120-125lbs, no exercise currently, (37 yrs old). I eat all the foods I enjoy, just in moderation.

This.

I don't exercise at all right now :p I go in phases with it (mostly walking), but I haven't done anything since the beginning of September when my schedule changed. My last blood work was taken two weeks ago, so exercise wasn't a factor. I don't really know why my HDL is so high right now-that's the highest its ever been…

I haven't cut out any foods that I like-I've lost over 50lbs and have been in maintenance for over two years now. I've also improved my blood work and I'm in excellent health. I eat fast food 2-3 times a week, fried food, sweet stuff, salty stuff, drink alcohol and diet soda etc. I also eat lots of veggies, whole grains, a…

I went the IF route for weight loss/maintenance and only spot check calories. During the weight loss phase I counted calories every other day. Now in maintenance I count maybe 2-3 days a month. However, I do other things instead of regular calorie counting-IF, daily weigh ins, blood work twice a year etc, that I use to…

It's actually called intermittent fasting and there's many people who are very successful eating this way. I've lost over 50lbs and have been in maintenance for a while now-I break my daily fast after 11am and finish eating by 7pm. This way of eating is called 18:6IF and it's pretty awesome actually.

I'm 37yrs old/5ft, 6in. I've been in maintenance for a little over two years now and my maintenance range is 120lbs-125lbs. Working on a bit of a weight creep right now, and today's weigh-in was 130.5lbs, the highest I've seen on the scale in over a year blech. Back at it and working towards the low 120s again.

Dr. Michael Mosley goes into this a bit in his BBC documentary Eat, Fast & Live Longer. Some pretty interesting research coming out about longevity of life and how it relates to how we eat.
-
One thing I've learned throughout my weight loss phase and now in the maintenance phase-I will never, ever cut out any foods that I like. That's just setting myself up for failure. Instead I focus on eating the things I enjoy in moderation.
-
Time. Time and more time. I's so stinking easy to lose focus in maintenance when you're looking at over 40 years of it sigh... The motivation fades and it's very easy to put maintenance into the background. I've been in maintenance for about 2 and a half years now and I'm dealing with some weight creep right now. Just a…

Mornings is cereal for the kids before they're out the door for school. I don't eat in the morning and my husband usually picks something up on the road. Lunch time we're not together. Supper time depends on what night it is/what sports or activities are going on. We usually sit down at the table together 3-4 times a week.

I did alternate day IF for the weight loss phase and then a 5:2/18:6 IF hybred for maintenance. It's worked really well when I've stayed focused, but the last few months I've lost that and here I am, up over my maintenance range blech. Re-focusing and will be getting stricter about IF again to lose the creep and get back…
