400 miles in one day of biking...24 hours
-
The best machine is the one you love. Seriously what do you like to do? If you do not like it you will hang clothing on it... Many home machines gather dust. All exercise machines burn calories, harder you go, the more you burn. But hard is hard so you better like doing the exercise. Go to the gym try them all, buy what…

Just go ride a century and be done with it
-
2:01 yesterday and 4:26 today. So 38:43 for the month. Held 232 watts for 4 hours at 60 kilograms. That good if you understand wattage in cycling John
-
Hmm..2:00 Wednesday 1:12 yesterday 2:32 today 32:17 hours for the month.
-
I used my HR at 150 watts and 200 watts to know where I am at...obviously RPE matters to but 130BPM at 200 watts is a good day for me. But this only works inside, outside it takes longer for me to know, 30 minutes sometimes
-
Perfect, thanks for finding that
-
I turned off the recovery feature, it seemed silly to me, but never bothered to research how they figured out the recovery time
-
Hmm..so I did 2:45 on Sunday....think I posted that I did 1:10 ish yesterday And 2:01 total today So I am at 26 hours and 28 minutes according to Strava. Finally starting to feel fit again. Got 2 major centuries in 2 weeks...coming up soon. Both are personal time trails for me. Do them every year. The big one is 107 miles…
-
Wow that totally sucks...but sometimes maintaince is a start J
-
I ride 14 hours a week. There are so many ways to get fit. But 65-70% of max HR all the time will do very little unless you are untrained, after 8-10 weeks in fact you will make no gains unless you increase volume. I have research where they did exactly what your are describing. Pro cyclists train like this but ride 30…

Actually most world class athletes remarkedly fall into around ~90 foot strikes per minute (each foot). Read about Jack Daniels observations during the Olympics. But you are spot on, most of the 90 per minute is from world class while racing...foot strikes actually seem to vary depending on pace. Just did a search and…

So 18:43 total for the month
3 hours...burned 2500 calories...yes its accurate....totally shot 21:43 so far....more to come
So 25 more last night. 2:25 today so far. So 24:33 for the month. Guess I'm done?
-
Month to date according to Strava....23:15 Going to be hard to hit 700 for the year but it still might happen 655 hours for the year
-
Spot on...funny but the most efficient candance is sometimes 60...which is totally crappy to pedal at
-
Read my additional post afterwards about biking cadence.
-
With your dedication pick something!!!! Impressive
-
And biking all winter even 2-3 hour per week would help a ton...a ton
-
To really finish well bike a ton. But hills will only work for a little while unless you keep pushing after the hill. You have to stress the aerobic system for more than 5-8 minutes of a hill. Way to many people slow down after the hill. That is fine for 4-6 weeks but after that adaptation to the training slows way down.…

Sorry this is not totally true...90 (left or right foot strikes per minute) for running is correct, cycling it's depends on way to many factors. Cadence is a red herring. Just pedal at what you want/feel most powerful comfortable. I have read a ton of research (and running steps ) on this is you want to know more. John
-
I have also completed 5-6 half ironmans, so if you need some guidance let me know. I think my best time was a 4:48ish...been 4/5 years. I just bike now
-
That's a great shirt...I quit triathlon partially for that reason...one of my new quotes "I did not hate myself enough to keep running" J
-
So I am training for a century in 3 weeks, another fast 100 in May, a hill TT in May and a 24 hour race in June. Are you training for something, your volume is impressive
-
47...silly active, in fact maybe stronger than I have ever been, and very determined to keep progressing. Been a rock climber, weight lifter, triathlete, and now just a long distance competitor cyclist. Happy to support if you want to add me.
-
Join Strava, it's a great way to meet people who bike
-
3 hours...burned 2500 calories...yes its accurate....totally shot 21:43 so far....more to come

If you really want the bike to benefit running it's pretty simple. Build up to riding as long and hard as you can. A day or two between bike rides to recover. I have trained a ton of athletes and biking is a good adjunct to running but the fitness will only partially transfer. Obviously start small...15-20 minutes. Warm…

Most people do not realize unhealthy is actually a million little choices made each and every day. I am always amazed at how many people sit in there cars and wait for there kids after practice. I always go and watch them or walk across the field they are playing to greet them. I take the first parking spot i see and I…

So 1:37 today of biking. 20 minutes body weight last night. So 18:43 total for the month
-
I would say with your amount of biking you are clearly an athlete. Most of the world does nothing.... My link https://www.strava.com/athletes/5058093
