Me too! Starting over after a long absence!

Agree! Its not a process where u start n end......it goes on even when u reach your goals (maintenance), and goals may change too. Every time I've done the start-stop thing, I've ended up 'stopping'. If I look at it as a journey, it becomes more sustainable and instead of stopping, its just a hurdle or a road block I need…

So i did a major deload...just to be on the safe side. Feel a slight strain on my back after the last workout. SQ: 35kg 5x5 Bench: 27.5kg 5/5/5/4/4 Barbell rows: 30kg 5x5

DDHFree, you're doing great. It took me 3 times to progress from 20kg to the next step up! And I'm stuck at 22.5kg now. We'll get there! Yesterday's Workout: SQ: 52.5kg - 5/5/4/4/4 OHP: 22.5kg - 5/4/5/4/5 Deadlift: 40kg - 1x3 This whole workout was heavy and hard, think I might have strained my back a little trying to keep…

Way to go! I'm about 15lbs from normal weight. See ya there!
-
Awesome progress and inspiring! How many calories did you consume when eating on deficit? Those abs look fantastic!
-
Welcome Isca_1 and dcresider. Those lifts are very bad a@@ and motivating! Thanks to everyone else for the motivating & encouraging words! I was a bit disappointed that my weight had only decreased from 72kg to 71.5 in the last 40 days. But I measured my waist and it has gone from 36" to 34" I've just taken…

Thanks canadianlbs - i struggle with rows, have looked at some videos and it still feels super awkward, made worse by the fact that its the last one to do. They are not my favorite atm, will try one more week and then maybe deload, so I'll love them again
-
Way to go DDHFree! I struggle with the rows as well, mostly because i'm tired and then my form starts to go off. I reset after every pull though and try not to rush it...if not i feel the strain on my back :| Better to deload if you feel very strained , getting injured is worse than a slightly slower progress. SQ: 47.5kg…

Sixpacklady....nice work. Are you working on doing a pull up? That is one of my goals this year but wasnt sure how to work towards it other than trying the assisted pullup machine.

Great work DDHfree. Awesome benches! Wed workout. SQ:45kg 5x5 Bench:27.5kg 5/5/4/4/5 Barbell Row:35kg 4/4/3/3/2

Thanks for the tips n sharing ur pics happymom. It is inspiring. I wish i started lifting earlier....but i'm really glad im lifting now!!! Im so happy to be in this group...it is motivating to have like minded people and not always having to defend my strength goals Keep on rockin' y'all!

Wow!!! Fantastic progress! Have you been lifting since u started in Jan 2015?

I have issues with dandruff from time to time ...especially when transitioning from colder to warmer months and vice versa. My go to solution which helps both the itch and flaking....is washing with diluted apple cider vinegar or using diluted apple cider vinegar as your last rinse. Your hair will smell like a salad but…

Awesome loss DDHfree!!!!!! i havent taken any measurements or proper pics. I shall do this today. Here's to a great week everyone. !.

Monday workout. Missed friday last week. Squat: 40kgx5 for 4 sets 42.5kgx5 for 1 set OHP 22.5kg 22.5kg x4, x3, x5, x3, x5 i cant believe i got this up!!! My arms just hung limp after the last set and i had to ask for help to put the preloaded barbell back. The rack for it was the top shelf, i had difficulty unracking it…

That is an awesome transformation!!! Inspiring!
-
Welcome mustb60. Its hard without a power rack....great progress so far! I started without one as well but got tired just hauling the weights up into position to perform the lifts. Hope you find a modification/solution soon. DDHFree...love the idea of the small rewards, nice way to keep the motivation on!

If you are using the mfp calculator, you are meant to eat back your exercise calories. Though I have read that most people eat back about half the exercise calories as it's overestimated how much is actually burned. Headaches could be due to the dietary change...I sometimes get them when I stop drinking coffee or soda, or…

Thanks for the tip DDHFree. Will look into it. Did workout A today. SQ: 40kg 5x5. It was hard....could feel my form going off kinda. Might repeat this next time rather than increase. Bench Press: 27.5kg 3, 4, 4, 4, 4...another repeat. Rows:30kg 5x5. Its getting challenging...i am taking more time to complete…

Nice work everyone! Great to have you here, happymom221-and inspiring to hear you have lost so much! I'm hoping my abs will pop by end of this year! I'm back in the swing of things - took a good 15minutes to warm up and stretch and foam roll those tight shoulders. Hours of hunching over the computer everyday :-1: Also…

Thanks sixpacklady and DDH for your input. I will work on a better warmup routine instead of my current random one. The nerdfitness one looks pretty thorough. Definitely sucks to hv injuries hinder my progress. Have a slipped cervical disc too. Workout B: Squats-32.5kg OHP-17.5kg DL-30kg. Did not increase the weights for…

Workout B on Wed: Squat: 35kg Bench Press: 25kg Barbell Row: 27.5kg I dont think I was properly warmed up when i started as I felt some stiffness over my R shoulder during the squats, or my form was off? Though it felt stiff from just the warmup sets with the empty bar. Felt a bit more limber as I progressed but woke up…

I felt overwhelmed by the amount I had to lose but breaking the weight loss into smaller manageable goals helped. I started by losing just 5kg at a time, when I reached that, I felt motivated to go another 5kg. As others have mentioned, don't worry about the loose skin, I lost weight and saw some wrinkly skin in various…

Yes thanks for that! I have a right shoulder which gives me trouble from time to time. Will bear this in mind. I'll post mine here. (started about 1 month ago using home barbells but just joined a gym so last week's workout was more accurately tracked) SW: 73.5kg CW: 72kg GW: 65-67kg Workout A: Squat - 25kg OHP - 15kg…

Thanks! This is the first time I have properly started a strength program and I'm happy with the way I feel so far. When I started, I was doing some cardio after SL. But the last 2 times I went, just couldn't manage...too tired. Do we post our training here? Or measurements? Or BW? Its already summer here in Australia…

Hi, I would like to join too. Some accountability will help when I feel intimidated/ unmotivated to hit the gym. My stats: 1. Beginner 2. 5' 4 tall 3. Weight 72kg 4. Goals: To maintain muscle and lose fat and inches. Currently eating on a deficit. If I can lose 4-5kg, I would be happy! 5. Program: SL 5x5

Am fairly new to SL - will post my goals here though Body: Reduce bf% - my scales say 37.5% fat, would like to drop to 30%. Reach my goal weight of 62-65kg. Am currently 72.5kg Will reassess as necessary as I've never been lighter than 70kg, as an adult! Lifts: Do stronglifts for the year. Increase weights but learning and…
