  • I'm in my junior year of college, having gone right after high school. I first joined MFP during my freshman year due to packing on weight fast. My biggest struggle was self-control and that "I can, so I will" mindset. Remember those "no, we have food at home" discussions you've had with your parents while passing…
  • I'm with you! I'm terrible at controlling myself around food. I managed to lose 20lbs in the past few months and I'm pretty sure I put it all back on since the start of October. :s (Edit, forgot to say this!) You're welcome to add me and we can support each other!
  • Hey there- first off, thank you so much for your response! Second, congratulations on graduating! I do share the sentiment that my states aren't extreme and I could be off a lot worse. I think the bulk of my problem was the result of gaining so much in such a short time frame and after never having that issue…
  • I didn't really consider "addiction" to be an applicable term until recently when I sat down and thought about how much sugar I was taking in and wondering if that had much to do with it. I recognize that my habits simply need to change and I need to exercise some self-restraint, for sure, and figure out a different…
  • I didn't know there was a prescription for BED. I thought it was... I don't know, something you had to go to counseling for. I don't know if I meet the criteria for BED but I've had my suspicions, so this is kind of interesting to take into account. Regardless, I admire you for sharing your story, and I'm sorry you lost…
  • Aww, thank you for making such a nice post! I've also struggled with anxiety and depression most my life, in addition to relatively recent body image issues, so this post is well appreciated!
  • 35g of fat, 27g of carbs, and 5g of protein... That adds up to more than 420cal, too. (35*9) + (27*4) + (5*4) = 315 + 108 + 20 = 443cal. For the record though, this is common across all food labels to be inaccurate to a certain extent! I think the regulations dictate that they have to be within a 50cal window.
  • I know I'm at roughly 26 BMI. I don't know my body fat %, though, which is really important to know if you're gonna use your BMI as a reference. I've got probably 20lbs to go before I'm in a healthy range, and I'm working on it! :p
  • I think I might be your twin! I'm 5'6" and 20yrs old! HW: ~170lbs LW: 130lbs (upon graduating High School HA!) CW: ~157lbs (haven't weighed since March, but I was 163 then and I know I've lost a little) GW: 145lbs
  • I like to keep english muffins on hand, so I had one of those split with a little bit of cream cheese spread on both halves, topped with 2 poached eggs. Unfortunately, I don't have hollandaise sauce, but this is still delicious. It comes out to approx. 300 calories, too!
  • I do the exact same thing; I just really love to eat! Every now and again I'll get a hankering for something, or I'll go through some emotional event, and I'll eat my feelings. Hell, just this past week I went through a break-up and while I can honestly say I didn't go out of my way to eat my emotions... I did happen to…
  • Female, 19yro, 5' 6" Highest: 170-171lbs Lowest: 130lbs Current: 162lbs Goal: 145lbs.
  • That's kinda what I thought- I know it's dangerous to deprive your body of nutrients and that an excess of calories is an excess regardless (unless you burn it off). Thanks for clarifying that for me. :) That's part of why I tried this method, so I can focus less on what/when my next meal will be and more on everything…
  • (I just realized I only kind of answered your question) I think 8lbs in 3 weeks is doable, as that is about 2.67lbs a week. You just need to be very careful about making sure you're eating enough to balance out the amount of exercising you're doing. Safety is critical- exercise won't out-do a bad diet and a good diet won't…
  • I would suggest an intake of no less than 1,000, as it is important to eat well during weight loss (otherwise you risk screwing up your metabolism!). I'm 5' 6" and ~150lbs and shooting for a 2lb-a-week loss, so my intake is ~1200 a day, if that gives you a sort of ball-park of what you want to shoot for. Since you're…
