  • Coffee and alcohol both put me in rare form. Alcohol is by far the worst and one of the main reasons I quit drinking about 6 years ago. I only drink coffee once a week and thempn only an Americano which seems to have less of an impact. Tea doesn’t do this though so it’s not the caffeine.
  • Been keto for about 3 years. Not going to prothletize however, behind giving up alcohol, it was the second best health choice I ever made.

  • Recently several people have asked me what I did to loose all that weight (75#). In answering this question I've often noticed that people are often asking for a quick and simple answer to their question. My simple answer is that I eat the way my ancestors eat. That answer is not that simple though. The process took a lot…
  • To me avocados are a carrier food for garlic! My breakfast is 2oz avocado, 1 tbls chia seed, 1tbls pumpkin seeds, 1 tbls coconut or some other oil, ghee or butter and a bunch a fresh garlic squeezed on top...and salt. I often use a product from Costco called wholly Guacamole which uses organic avocados. Sometimes I do the…
  • I tend to eat the same foods everyday so I only count calories when I’m making a change or coming back from a trip and need to remind / retrain myself. I also use it when I’m doing occasional experiments.
  • I posted this elsewhere so please excuse the duplication. Just trying to help. I had forgotten how much this was a problem when I went keto. As I look back on it I think it was a gut biom problem. I realized that the more quality probiotics and prebiotic foods I consumed the better things got. Today I’m eat fermented foods…

  • From my erase history keto and alcohol are a very bad combination. Marks Daily Apple had a podcast of a blog on this with the host El Russ discussing the mechanics of this. Good luck.
  • I had similar symptoms when I went ketogenic. Was frustrated that few people were talking about the keto flu. In retrospect I think it was really withdrawals. Another issue that came up was salt, are you eating enough of quality sea salt. Persevere it’s worth it.
  • Serious binge food for me for I keep it at the grocery store and enjoy on special occasions
  • I worked up to 16:8 and do it most days but it's hard when traveling as I've been doing the last 1.5 months.
  • Oops, yeah...i said to myself, if I'm really insulin resistanct then if I stopped eating anything that digests as sugar then I should notice a big changes. So I did just that and the results supported my theory.
  • Congrats on dropping the hooch. I'm +5 yrs sober and it was the best choice I ever made. As soon as I quite drinking I started binging on sugar and t digested as sugar, including excess protein. The total result was going from 250 to now at 175. I'm totally ketogenic and still making tweaks. it's what works best for me. I…
  • I had an ALCAT test done recently and BINGO...gluten allergy. Which I had already figured out just by noticing my tendency to binge on bread.
  • Same here. For me I found the whole carb refeed thing to be not helpful at all. I'm totally fat adapted and much happier that way.
  • BINGO! recovery is the goal.
  • Thanks for your comments. The problem with the live meetings is sloppiness. I've been to as many different phone meetings as I know of, 2 hr HOW, hour of power, a vision 4 you. The phone meeting are much better and much less game playing... Face to face HOW has a prescribed food plan that would kill me. I have been through…
  • Stop guessing and start testing. One can easily get the right number for you is by purchasing a glucometer at your local drug store ($15) and checking blood sugar regularly. It's a very informative thing to do. I'm at 75f 10c 15p.
  • This is why a high protein diet is really a high sugar diet.
