I joined with the old plan too that counted calories fat and fiber ? it was a slider scale. The orientation meeting was very good back then, she told us about turkey deli meat, stir fry frozen vegetables, whole wheat pita, very practical ideas that I actually taught you how to shop. The pamphlets seemed better too.

Can you ask them about Cytomel? Ask them for 5 mcg once a day they may be OK with that if you insist. So sorry you are dealing with this.

The patient is no longer hyperthyroid at that point though they are treating hypothyroidism. It's not used to treat an overactive thyroid.

Every food is assigned a point value. They assign you so many points per day. Most produce has 0 points and they recommend you have 5 servings a day. Lean meats have low points. They won't give Synthroid for an overactive thyroid, they may give methimazole or propylthiouracil (ptu) and in some cases a beta blocker.

The online calorie counters have made the points harder than calories. 40 Points would be easier than 1800 calories if adding on paper or in our head but we only have to enter a food's name or check a box in 2015.

There are people who under estimate what they eat but it doesn't mean metabolism is a myth. People with over active thyroids can eat like a horse and not keep weight on. People with under active thyroids can gain while being completely compliant food plans that work wonders for others.

I've known more than 5 people IRL who lost over 50 lbs with Weight Watchers. These people did not measure everything, one lady worked nights and babysat her grandchildren during the day, she ate fast food around the clock.
