Goal = 2010 cal/day for 3 weeks (no longer than 4 weeks if less than 5 lbs weight loss). Day 1 = 2,016 cal Day 2 = 2,018 cal Day 3 = 2,071 cal Day 4 = 1,977 cal Day 5 = 2,503 cal Day 6 = 3,176 cal Day 7 = 2,552 cal Weekend was a flop. 3.5 hours of cardio not making up for extra calories eaten.. try-try again this week.

Justin - thanks for yr feedback. Getting enough protein is tough and will try to bump it up. Will know in a few days if this regimen is doable. It's getting the last 10 pounds over with that I'm looking forward too and a short diet period is motivating.

What - 50! that's awesome!!

Thought I would follow up to this post since it's summer now. I've lost 5 pounds (-2.5%) since winter. Would say I've been eating at maintenance so mostly from increased activity from Winter to Summer.

I've followed a registered dietitian's calorie guidance for the past year. I was eating back most/all of cardio. Lost 25 lbs since last June. Been maintaining for last 1-2 months and finally feeling like tackling the last 10-15 pounds. Does 5 lb weight loss over 4 weeks period sound drastic? I was thinking it's 1.25lbs per…

I'm not sure my TDEE but I do quite a bit of cardio. Where do I find TDEE on MFP, Garmin Connect? Day 1 - hit my target - consumed 2,016cal (251g Carb; 67g Fat and 90g Protein).

lol! my biggest mileage week is 28 miles (Hal Higdon intermediate plan) and it's manageable. Hunger is much worse if I do a 2 hour bike ride - want to eat everything is sight!!

I've finished 9 weeks of a 12 week 1/2 marathon training plan and have lost 10 lbs. I've been eating about 200 calories below maintenance and not counting the calories burned running. Usually one cheat meal a week on long run days. I'm still 16 lbs from my target weight but the steady weight loss has definitely improved my…

according to web-md 1 pushup = 1 calorie. So, if you do 3,500 push-ups per week and not eat more, then you would lose a pound a week. Doing 500 push-ups a day would definitely make you good at push-ups but much easier ways to create a calorie deficit.

Well never got a swoosh in weight loss. My opinion, burning a lot of calories in exercise in big events does not equal big weight loss. Must be something occurring with recovery that prevents body from adapting too much in one day.

Sounds a little crazy but I will buy a salad/fruit and keep in hotel room frig. If I have a business dinner, I will eat in the room before dinner so I'm not very hungry going into the restaurant. I then try to just eat a little protein at dinner and only one glass of wine. People rarely notice what's left on yr plate.

Hi, I weight myself every morning same time on fitbit scale (aria). I took the average of the last 5 days prior to event(all within .5lbs) so no big swings.
-
Update - I'm still 2 lbs. heavier on the 3rd day after event than I was the previous 5 days before the event. No exercise since and eating same calories as prior to event. Hopefully a swoosh coming up else it really makes me wonder the weight loss impact of big events. Will update progress in a couple of more days.

I will see how it changes in the next couple of days and post the changes. As far as being sore, I always feel a little sore - I'm old.. Thanks for pointing at water retention. I was craving salty food after the ride and when I just went back and looked at mfp nutrition from yesterday, I consumed a lot of sodium - 3,850!…

How many days would it take for water retention to return to normal?

Thanks for the great feedback. I have not tried a snorkel but maybe it's worth a try. I don't want to get reliant on it but I think I would be more enthusiastic if I manage to swim a few (4-5) laps without stopping to hang on the side of the pool + maybe more use to being in the right position with my head down. I get…

Enyagoboom - yr much more structured than me. I usually do the kick board to warm up and then just repeats of freestyle with rest mid-post lap. End with treading water - I just sink unless I moving like crazy. My biggest problem is breathing and treading water(makes me nervous in the deep end when I get tired). For…
-
enyagoboom - how many laps are you swimming now? I just took 3 group lessons and have been going to the pool 2x week. Feel like I'm getting worse. Curious how fast others progress.

I really like the idea of ebikes (good to commute, haul the kids and groceries, etc) and probably a good stepping stone to get people into proper cycling. My concern is the lack of infrastructure to support them and the ability for people to ride way over their skill levels. No safe bike lanes for me to commute and I would…

Wow - a lot of people do a lot of volume! I estimate if I complete a full week as planned it would be: lunch 45minx5=225mins + 2 night runs 60mins x 2 = 120mins. Sat ride 150mins Sun run 90 mins = 585mins = 9.75hrs. In reality given my life, I probably avg. closer to 5-6 hrs maybe less if I have to travel for work.…
