I used to LOVE eating plain crackers out of the box. I was never a chip person, but crackers were my jam. Then I joined weight watchers and had to count them out and they became WAY less satisfying. But I'd still keep them around and count them and then inevitably binge them because I felt deprived. I could mow down an…

@gadgetgirlIL Congrats on getting your doctorate! I'll be pursuing my doctorate in Educational Leadership. What field did you earn yours in?
-
You've got this! Data is definitely a nice thing to have :)

I gave up fried foods, and now I literally can't go back to them or my stomach goes into full revolt and it's awful. If only it would do the same thing with sweet foods and I'd be set lol.

This is going to sound really boring, but the thing I'm looking the most forward to is setting up a new routine and a new normal in the new house. In more exciting news, I'm likely going to start my doctorate program in August :) And somewhere in there my SO and I are going on a cruise!
-
Happy New Year! It looks like everyone took the same break I did! How did the holidays go? Do you have any resolutions?
-
WL gave me the ability to run 4 miles yesterday and made it feel relatively easy. I've got 1 more day of the holidays left (tomorrow) and then I'm looking forward to being done and back on the wagon.
-
The New Year will be all about establishing a new normal now that we are in the house and somewhat settled. With that new normal will also hopefully come my healthy routines that I've missed so much in the chaos of this past month

I'm a budget girl to the extreme, so it pains me to pay $5-$10 when I can make food at home for a fraction of the price which means I always have grab and go options ready. If I'm truly stranded, I do what @minimyzeme does and pop into a grocery store. They have A TON of grab and go healthy food items for a fraction of the…

You are absolutely right, it will get easier with time. But when my SO and I are both climbing the work ladder, so to speak, it is important we go to these events for networking and career advancement (and with Grandparents now in their 80s, some of these events may sadly not be an option the future).
-
@minimyzeme Your LTL post this morning made my day :) Thank you all for thinking about me! I'll add some context to why that list is so obnoxious :) Sadly getting out of the events, or even arriving late, is a bit of a no go. My SO is a second year attorney, which means that it is extremely important that we make a good…

I live in a college town so there are A LOT of bars per capita. There's specifically an area downtown called the Barmuda Triangle where all the bars are within stumbling distance of one another. My Uncle's girlfriend started the tradition over 12 years ago with her college friends as a drinking challenge to dress up in…

@gymprincess1234 I'm thankfully a morning person or there's no way I'd be able to pull that off! I'm glad to hear your December is going well! Happy Wednesday! My holiday craziness starts tomorrow so I'll likely be MIA until the New Year but I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season :)
-
My problem is that even though I "make the better choice", I'm still eating different foods than I normally would and having more cocktails than normal. This month alone I have: 1) My office holiday potluck 2) My department holiday party 3) My significant other's holiday party 4) The gala sponsored by my SO's firm 5) My…

@SusanDSME I'm glad to hear she wasn't offended! It sounds like you're doing great on your pacing, although running indoors is never as fun. Happy Tuesday! I did make it to the gym this morning since we have the holiday party after work. It's always rough getting up at 5:20am but it's worth it. I've got so much to do to…

@Evamutt It is so hard not to take all the pups home! I hope she finds a wonderful home. And Shirley is so cute!!! What a sweetheart! @SusanDSME Winter is always tough with outdoor runs, great job sticking with it! It'd be a shame if your hostess was upset about you not eating the entire doughnut and sharing instead! Happy…

I joke I have exercise ADD since I'm constantly switching things up so I don't get bored. Currently I do Crossfit 2x a week, dance class 1x a week, and I stream Beachbody Workouts 1-2x a week. Dog walking also plays a big part in my physical activity. Not only does my own dog need daily walks of at least 45 minutes a day,…

@Evamutt It's a minimal kill shelter. The only time they end a pup's life is due to health issues or aggression issues. I'm primarily a dog walker. Since I'm a pit bull Mom, I usually take out the pitbull pups that other walkers are more hesitant on. Happy Friday everyone!!!! I had a counseling appointment today and it…

Good Morning everyone! Sorry I was out yesterday, I had a Leadership Training that took me away from the office. I was very proud of myself, I woke up at 5:15am to make sure I got my workout in beforehand. This morning I also woke up early to get one in since I have volunteering at the animal shelter after work :)…

Happy Tuesday everyone! I had a great time at belly dance class last night. It felt good to stomp and shake it out. Today I'm going to pole dancing class, it's a very dance oriented week. I found out yesterday that the doctorate program I'm considering only opens it's cohort every 2 years so if I don't apply this year I'll…

I agree with tracking. Seriously, take one look at my log yesterday. It was a disaster. But I tracked and I am back on track today.
-
Welcome @norhannasser! @SusanDSME I hope you had a good rest day! My weekend was exhausting. After two back to back parties I ended up bingeing my feelings on Sunday, ugh. Too many people, too little sleep, too much forced extroversion was a recipe for disaster. I'm officially on cut down mode. Enough is enough. If I'm…
-
@Evamutt I'm so glad you figured out the cause! I hope you get your inhaler straightened out! That is really scary Happy Friday!!! Sadly this weekend I have two holiday parties back to back so it won't be a super exciting weekend but at least after that I only have a week and a half of work before my holiday break. I'm…

You've sparked my curiosity, what's the story???

Traveling screws with my routine, but I've gotten good at fitting stuff in. At my Grandma's house, I drive my Grandma and my Great Aunt to their gym and then workout with them. They love being chauffeured there and dropped off at the door so I get brownie points and a workout. They belong to a full gym now, but I used to…

Like @gadgetgirlIL sometimes my "in the moment" feelings overtake my long term goals. It's hard when I'm feeling lonely or depressed or stressed to remind myself that the relief of food is temporary when all I want is some temporary relief from what I am feeling. It really is about building up new coping mechanisms instead…

@gymprincess1234 That flight sounds absolutely brutal. I think investing in warm meals is a smart move, just for sanity's sake! @SusanDSME Great new running gear, purple is definitely your color! I bet you'll be hitting 4 miles in no time! The weather here officially blows. It's icy and blustery and snowy. Yuck. I'm…

Sweet potato casserole, squash pie, frosted Christmas cookies, my Grandma's chocolate chip cookies, my MIL's orange cranberry sauce (I thought I hated cranberry sauce until I ate this!)

I'm livin on a prayer when it comes to the holidays. I've got 3 family celebrations across 3 states in only 8 days. It's an introvert's nightmare. It's stressful and exhausting and by the end of it I usually feel like hell (even when I am on my food game). My game plan is one treat per day. Period. I can always have more…
