  • The weehoo we go! Reasonably priced on Amazon, and it comes with the jogging conversion kit.
  • Mine still isn't working. I'm so frustrated! I disconnected and reconnect multiple times, updated all apps, restarted my phone many times, tried a workaround on my desktop computer... Nothing is working. MPF won't connect to Garmin connect at all, and there is zero communication between the two. Last sync was March 14, I…
  • Bummer! Am I the only one who is still having syncing problems?? Mine will not sync at all anymore. MFP won't sent calorie intake info over to GC, and GC won't sent over any exercise info to MFP. Why can't they play nice? I'm SO frustrated right now.
  • Ditto! Very frustrating! It did this a few days ago as well, but ended up connecting in the evening. My GC has been extremely fickle. It keeps showing I have 0 steps for the day (I ran 8 miles today) and 0 miles on the leaderboards. So annoying. Hopefully it's some bug that the software developers are working through. I…
  • I like vega pre-workout. It's plant based, so feels more like a couple of cups of maté. I run long distances though, and black coffee wreaks havoc on my GI when running. I definitely need the mental focus to get going sometimes, pre-workout does just that! That's my two cents!
  • I agree with previous posters - take a few shark week rest days. I do, and I make up for it before and after that week. I also take ibuprofen and I take daily iron supplements to help with the fatigue and discomfort. Hope you find a system that works for you.
  • I just got the Garmin forerunner 235. It's an awesome watch! Although it is mostly a running watch, it still has activity tracking capabilities via the wrist based heart rate monitor. The Garmin vivoactive would be my top pick if I didn't need the running metrics as much. They're both a bit pricey though, so the vivo smart…
  • I had some sauconys that had too much flex in them that caused considerable foot pain. I switched to Nike Pegasus and haven't had an issue since. Go to a running store and have yourself fitted properly, they'll be able to diagnose if your shoes are the problem.
  • Twice a year I go on a juice fast for 3-7 days. It does a great job of resetting your stomach to proper portion sizes, resets the taste buds so you're more receptive to healthy foods, and it even resets my alcohol and spice tolerance. It truly is like a reset button. As a bonus, you'll lose a few lbs! Check out Fat Sick…
  • Oh! And I also has cesarean births, and I was really afraid to run in the first half year post partum. Hence the spinning.
  • I'm 30 years old next month, 5'10" and find that running is really hard on my knees if I weigh over 185. After my pregnancies, I dieted and used my spin bike to drop a dozen lbs or so until I felt 'light' enough to run comfortably (meaning with less chafing, bouncing, and stress on the knees). I started to really feel good…
  • Good to know! Thanks for the info!
  • Great info! I've run in the past, my farthest distance ever being 8 miles at a 9:30 minute mile. That progress was stalled by my pregnancies, so I was without practice for a couple of years. I picked up running again around Thanksgiving 2015, and have increased my mileage from 2 miles up to 5 per run since then (6-7 miles…
  • Great info in this feed! I'm having the exact same issue. Pigeon pose helps me, but doesn't quite hit the spot every time (pain seems to radiate back - almost sciatic). Idk why I didn't think to try out the foam roller. Thanks!
  • The treadmill itself matters. I bought one last summer and paid about $800 for it. Worth every penny!! I've logged about 200 miles on it, and use it every other day. I live in Alaska where outdoor running with two toddlers is just not feasible during the winter. My treadmill has been a godsend. I agree with others,…
  • Kudos! It's not easy cutting back, I know the feeling. I'm coming off a vey wine-heavy vacation, and definitely need to follow suit. Then there are those days (like when my kids hell raise) that I want to fill up with wine instead of refocusing on filling up a less destructive way. Keep up the good work!
  • Is it vegetarian? Link please!
  • Yes!! I remember driving my car using the trip feature to measure my distance!! I was a poor college kid doing that up until 2009 when Nike+ hit the scene. It's only gotten better from there.
  • Great thread! I'm upgrading my polar H4 to a Garmin for my birthday and I'm going back and forth on ditching the chest strap. The chafing and slipping of the chest strap is a distraction. I'm leaning toward the forerunner 235 if I can convince my husband its worth the price tag vs other forerunners (225, specifically)!
  • Ohh!! I'm loving this feed. I'm going to California next week.I'm visiting from interior Alaska where there are exactly zero trader joes (and zero Target stores). I plan to ship myself a box of goodies so I have specialty non-perishables to last a little while. Future self will thank me. Present self thanks you all for the…
  • Amen! I have the worst fatigue during shark week. My mood swings are pretty awful, too. I won't do birth control, though. So I just have to suck it up until "the change"!
  • I second this! We make southwest tofu scrambles. In olive oil saute red bell pepper, onion, and green bell pepper until onion is translucent, add chili, paprika, cayenne, cumin, coriander, salt and pepper to taste then add your crumbled tofu to the skillet and toss until hot and well seasoned. We serve that with salsa,…
  • I've gone through cycles of this. What helps me is replacing those junk sugars with better sugars. Instead of cookies, I eat vegan cookie dough bites, delicious and MUCH healthier!, instead of ice cream, I run frozen bananas in the food processor to make banana swirl ice cream. There are also loads of smoothie recipes that…
  • Blendtec! I really disliked my Ninja that I had previously. The blades were really sharp and scary to clean, it couldn't purée hot soups, the plastic was flimsy, it wouldn't make nut butters, couldn't pulverize spinach in green smoothies, the list goes on and on. My blendtec was expensive, but I got a good deal on it by…
  • I'm all about my blendtec blender! After I got it, I started making meal replacement smoothies, at least one per day. Usually two. I also use it for soups, nut butters and processing veggie burgers.
  • Great info! I messaged you in hopes that you could help me set a goal for January!
  • I've had two cesarean sections. I started back up with hatha (gentle) yoga and spin cycling. Those are low impact ways to get your body moving again. Eventually I worked my way back up to running! Listen to your body and take it slow if you're especially nervous about working out. Don't want to psych yourself out of…
  • Thanks for sharing! Seeing your chart was super helpful in understanding the oscillating numbers on the scale!
  • I'm about 90% vegan, allowing for the occasional egg, or (sometimes generous) sprinkling of cheese. Otherwise just a vegetarian. I really enjoy cooking out of the Oh She Glows cookbook, and also from the Minimalist Baker blog. Both have realistic recipes with normal vegan pantry staples (no super weird ingredients - I'm…
  • Thanks for all the input! I think I'd like to try to squeeze in a workout on Christmas before guests arrive, but if I can't no big deal. I'll try to make up for it during the weekend.
