When I see an attractive guy @50-60 in the supermarket, the first thing I do is check out his cart. He becomes much more attractive when he is buying healthy food. Oh, and I check to make sure there are no diapers or feminine products  For all others, I'm honestly a little bit envious; ice cream does not make it in…

Wow - that is beautiful.

I also have a bad habit of night-time eating but I'm trying something new that seems to help. I changed up my routine. I get to work early (@630) leave work ON TIME (@330). Get home and have my dinner@5 -- go for a walk then come back and take a shower and get ready for the next day and bed. The exercise at night seems to…

I'm 54 and I have to agree we are in the 'use it or lose it' territory'. The last few years things have really been trying, the aches and pains are amazing but honestly a little exercise goes a long way right now for me. I'm taking a class called ESSENTRICS and it is a great start, I have DVD's and other items from over…

I saw a nutritionist and she said you should always try to get at least three of the four building blocks in each meal. Building blocks are Fruits, grains, vegetables and protein (she recommended using dairy for snacks). I would add in (next time) vegetables (my fav would to make a messy omelette with spinach, broccoli,…

Welcome! My name is Beth and I'm starting my journey again -- so I'm kinda a newbie too. What are your goals?

Hi Meaghan - Thank you for your posting. We are almost at the same spot irt height/weight and I feel your pain as I begin my journey again. I find when I get that hungry/angry at work a quick walk helps. I also have a large bottle of carbonated lime water on my desk and I'll tell you half the time a break and sipping on…

Hi -My FITBIT is also synched with MFP but I decided NOT to add my exercise to MFP. I did not want MFP to increase my daily calories. Right now, I'm just getting used to moving again so I do not need to eat more calories just learn to stay within a 1500 daily limit. We will see in about 30 days how that works!

I do think even the little thing helps and just making more 'good' choices vs 'bad' choices will build on top of each other. I found something that has helped me this last week. When I do something 'good' instead of 'bad' I post it on my status line. For example I had to remind myself to drink water so I posted BE STRONG -…

I would check with your dr - to rule out anything major. I've also been having leg cramps and foot cramps. Very painful. I think because I stopped exercising and was spending way too much time at work. The dr gave me a foot brace which was an absolute life saver for nighttime foot cramps and he recommended stretching…

Wow -- you are guys are great! I'm 54 and in need of losing 43 lbs. I've hit such a weight that at my age everything feels like it is falling apart (body wise not mind!). 2017 is going to be my year and I know Sherry it will be your year too! I'm starting out slowly trying to walk 10,000 steps daily (I have a fitbit);…

I, too, lost my motivation for the past month and gained @6 lbs. I was so tired of 'trying' and not making progress but I took this time to think. Really think. 2017 is just around the corner and my whole life I've been overweight and I wanted to start fresh. Part of losing my motivation (not sure if this applies to you)…

I'm also truly starting my weight loss journey in 2017 and know that support is what was always missing in my journey. I'm here to support you and I think you will do great! 2016 was a terrible year but 2017 is a fresh start. We can do this!

Yes, I can relate! When I walk more than 40 minutes (I'm a walker right now), I make sure my route has bathrooms. I often check out areas that I can use if needed (and thank goodness that hasn't happened yet!). But NOT having coffee before going outside in the morning has helped -- I know you don't want to but it will make…

Hi - I'm also 52 and just starting this journey with 50 or so lbs to lose. My plan is to watch my food intake and slowly start moving everyday. Stretching and walking. I feel so stiff and inflexible anymore and everything hurts and I'm darn mad about it. We are NOT ready to give up. Feel free to friend me and me can…

What has finally helped me stay focused is a 180 day plan. I actually wrote down (used Microsoft Note) areas that I wanted to improve (weight, money, etc). I wrote down honestly where I am now (not very pretty let me tell you) and where I want to be in 180 days (which happens to be 1 April). While I'm not doing well in all…
