I've got it! How about "would you shag yourself slim with the person above you?"

I'm from New Zealand and moved to the UK 11 years ago. Within a year of arriving I was 20lbs heavier. I dropped those pounds almost immediately by working at it. I got s shock when it happened so fast and was like "oh HELL no!" so I thrashed it off. Since then my weight has had its ups and downs and I've had to monitor if…

I have to eat a lot of vegan food for medical reasons (intolerant to meat, dairy and eggs) but I do eat fish and honey occasionally so don't consider myself Vegan. Even so I've learned to cook Vegan food and adapt to get nutrition healthy, so feel free to add me.

I really need to stop skim reading first thing in the morning with tired eyes. I read the above post and picked up the below version...then sat laughing like a giggly teenager for 10 mins... Kill me now please lol

You're so right! I giggled when he did his DIY energy drink, it was such basic stuff. "..and now we'll add a very special chemical substance to add those lovely electrolytes to our DIY energy drink... it's called table salt." Lmao. Really like this show. The antioxidants myth test they did was interesting too. I'm going to…

Oooh oooh! I just watched a show on this last week where they did a live test across a bunch of men and women in the hopes to prove or disprove the theory of empty or full stomach workouts!! There is a series in the UK called "Trust me I'm a doctor" new episode each week where they try to blow things out of the water, a…

I do two very specific things with my diet on those days, planning ahead to do them... 1. I avoid any and all acidic vegetables and fruits, including fruit juice, citrus, etc. For me they always, always lead to more cramps! Instead I drink more alkalising juices that also work to reduce my arthritis (you'll hate it, but…

I recently lost 11 lbs and I first noticed a significant difference at around 7 lbs gone. That little loss got me comfortably into my size 14 mini skirt (that's UK 14 - not positive what American size that is..10? 12?) which I previously couldn't zip up lol.

Yep! *puts up hand* I even did the Paddison Program up until last year to get on top of it through diet. I'm not even on Methotrexate now, and have a CRP below 5, so it is possible to get on top of it with diet & exercise. I was permanently on crutches until June 2014, now I can take the odd run! I gained a few pounds last…

Yes I don't think there would be any point in anyone thinking a genetic analysis contains the secret keys to weight loss haha. For me the diet & exercise section was more...side information? It certainly wasn't something I expected to be included.

I live in Edinburgh, feel free to add meh ☺️ All this dietin n' exercise 'as me heid doon *kitten* up!

@spoonyspork wow that sounds really interesting! Thanks for sharing that. I'm like you though and read the section on diet and exercise but haven't really stopped to think about how I could apply it. @brb_2013 yeah I agree. I wanted to know about the major disease genes for peace of mind. It didn't tell me anything I…

@Last_mango_in_paradise good luck with your results! I hope you find it as informative and entertaining as I did. @cross2bear it is fascinating isn't it?! I'm always amazed at what can be done with science today. I think your right. The explanation section did bang on about being a likely responder to exercise. I get what…

Yeah I read about that. That's unfortunate. I live in the UK and had no trouble getting it done last year. I wouldn't go as far as saying it has helped me though...not sure really. Some of it was useful to know for sure, but I've not done anything with the data described above on "diet and exercise" so I was curious if…

Amazing!! You look very healthy in your most recent pic. Here's to the new you

Homemade protein bars anyone? They're quite fun & easy to make

This is very good advice. Check whether pressing on the area leaves a temporary indentation as that's something you'd want to discuss with a doctor.

Thanks very much for the reply. That's very interesting indeed and I can understand the thinking. I must admit, when I had to cut meat, dairy & eggs from my diet (medical reasons) I found my behaviour changed and I now cook far more things from scratch. I think I got tired of combing through the ingredients on pre-made…

Wow i didn't know that people with eating disorders commonly recover as Vegan. I like questions like these, it makes people think about things they potentially wouldn't otherwise. To the OP - is this commonality something you've noticed in real life or did a recent article spur your thinking? If it's the latter is there a…

You're probably right, it's not cut and dry. The info I was quoting came from a TV show I watched recently which did an in depth investigation on the misconceptions around a list of things: counting calories, sugar, sweetener etc. According to the show there are a lot of misconceptions that are (so they tried to prove)…

I use my FitBit HR and it's quite good, though I had to mess with positioning at first to get it reading accurately during cardio. Luckily, I had another heart rate monitor to use with my Elliptical (goes around my waist) which has always been super accurate. I used this to compare to the Fitbit at first. I had to swap…

To answer the Op in a different way... There are foods that make you "hungry" vs foods that don't. By default foods that lead to Slow Energy Release (proteins, grains and beans) will stop you becoming hungry as quickly, as they don't lead to a spike of insulin and (ultimately) fat storage. My go to foods for this are…

Vegan Super Food Chia dessert!! It's creamy, seriously pudding-like, no added sugar, chocolatey, loaded with nutrients and...best of all, super easy!! You make it overnight, so it's the laziest healthy pudding ever. http://minimalistbaker.com/overnight-chocolate-chia-seed-pudding/

By the way - it occurred to me that the below scenarios are exactly the same: Person A - sets a daily MFP calorie goal of 1,600. They eat that 1,600 but don't eat any addition calories created from exercise. At the end of the day they have 1,600 goal - 1,600 eaten + 400 exercise = 400 under goal. Person B - sets a daily…

I talked this question over with my doctors as I wanted to get it right when I started a month ago. I have a condition so have to visit hospital every 2 weeks for blood tests and a chat with my nutritionist. I will share what they said, but bear in mind it's advice specifically for me, so won't necessarily apply to others.…

Never mind! I found instructions here: https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/201687-how-do-i-make-my-diary-visible-to-other-users- Happy to share - I'm on a no meat, no dairy, no egg, bare minimum processed food diet. Most vege is from the garden or greenhouse and we try to cook whatever we can from…

That sounds perfectly fine - you're taking the shake very close to your workout, so that sounds ideal to me. Are you taking protein shakes because your daily diet doesn't give you enough protein? If you are entering your food into MFP you should be able to tell whether you're coming up short. I ask because if it's only…
-
Be very careful with protein shakes made with animal protein powders. I used those for a year back in 2012 and it's the reason my body triggered my dormant inflammatory arthritis condition. I'm now registered disabled. Since then life has been such a struggle, I really wish I'd never touched those things... it's just…

I find the same thing to be honest, which is a pain because we cook everything from scratch in our household. I've just started using the app so I accept that I'll have to go through the pain of entering recipes for a while but... I'm hopig that once I have a store of my regular recipes it will become quicker to use it.…
