@FANCY1977 - In addition to the resources listed in the Launch Pad, there's a pretty active closed FB group called "Vegetarian Keto" that has a bunch of recipes and meal plans listed under the the Files tab.

Prof. Volek is a great speaker - thanks for posting.

FYI - Detailed rating of yogurt brands: https://www.cornucopia.org/scorecard/yogurt/ (Huge difference between low-rated mass-market brands like Dannon and Yoplait and the top-rated products from smaller producers.)

Yep, those are two scary scenarios. Is hard to find studies that apply cleanly to our individual situations, and it's also tough to do reliable n=1 self-experimentation with so many unseen variables at play (sleep, stress level...). But time + knowledge + dedication = results, most of the time, and you've obviously got it…

@ConleighS - Well, from agonizing personal experience... it's tough sledding to get off anything you're addicted to, especially if you're still on it. In your case (pancreatic issues), I'm guessing that carefully dialing in your insulin regimen might a huge step forward!

Oh, my...... >:)

Way to go! Great story. Just out of curiosity, what led you to Low Carb and Intermittent Fasting?
-
If you've been restricting your sodium, you want to increase your intake gradually, rather than suddenly, if you'd like to avoid simulating colonoscopy prep... :s

That's a good question! Dr. Kraft's study of patterns of glucose response (book: Joseph Kraft, Diabetes Epidemic & You) might provide some insights on the magnitude of spikes and the importance of rebound time. The question in the post above posed by Dr. Eades seems to be concerned with the absolute range of BG over time,…

Not trying to be a party pooper (or cookie killer..) but spikes are a good thing to avoid. I got a real jolt from this sobering article: https://proteinpower.com/drmike/2006/04/19/low-carb-caveat/ "... patients with diabetes who have fluctuations in their blood sugars incur more free radical damage than those with high but…
-
Now you know! ;)
-
Dang. If a couple cookies spike your BG to 241,would another bolus be helpful?
-
Yep, everyone's different... 45-60g (net carbs) per meal would turn me into a popsicle and eventually drive me onto insulin. :s 30-40g/day is my limit, unless I exercise for at least 45 min.
-
:o?
-
All right, I give up! What's your secret? ;)
-
Dang... can you dehydrate the mayo, then add H20 after you weigh it?? Kittens can sometimes be dealt with.
-
Ding, dong, the ^*#$= is dead! :p
-
So no photos? Darn....

You can go through the motions of doing colonoscopy prep and then weigh yourself the next morning. (You'll be under your goal, and then you can heave your scale into a dumpster from a 5th-floor window!)

In addition to @tumsashrinks' ideas,.... There are a few FB groups. Try searching for "LCHF vegan". There is one type of legume that's quite low carb - black soy beans, which are sold by Eden Foods. They imported this variety from Japan and have farmers who grow them. They're available cooked or dry. The net carbs are much…
-
Did you want it raw? Hmmm..... :s
-
Your sneaky scale is the Sméagol of your household gadgets - its treacherous ways will not stop till it's been consigned to the flames (or dumpster)!
-
@ConleighS, bedtime BG improving, too?
-
Wow. Maybe you've got it licked (as long as you keep your carbs low and total intake under control, of course...).
-
If you have a dx for diabetes, have you already had an A1c test? Anyhow, for many of us T2Ds who are carb sensitive/intolerant, a low net carb ceiling is absolutely essential in the quest for normal, non-diabetic blood glucose levels. For example, mine seems to be in the 20-40g range, though non-dietary factors like…

Hate to ask..... how old is this hip physician ?

Sugar alcohols are not all created equal! Erythritol - don't count Malitol - count double and carry a change of underwear.... :s

Ah, now we're getting somewhere! Step 1 - Learn to tell lizards from wizards. Step 2 - Don't listen to lizards.

Seeing Maltodextrin at the top of that list makes you wonder who was minding the store when they coupled powdered maltodextrin (and dextrose :s) with Splenda, saccharin, etc., in those finky little packets of sugar "alternatives".....

Bravo! Well put. Almost 2 years after finally ditching carbs, I have a hard time not wanting to thow out OJ, flour, and other glucose-spikers I imagine fueling someone's addiction... *** In the early days of American diets and health claims, the mad men behind the Cigarette Diet conjured up the clever addiction swap, Pass…
